MJ is a litte to far. But Kanye, like mj has done an amazaing job of clashing diffrent aspects of culture and art and fusioning them togheter to a point where it compliments each aspects.

I wouldn't say best modern rapper since I think his rhymes can be silly at times. However I would agree best modern hip-hop producer.
Mos Def sh!ts on this guy, and his beats actually have a degree of thought put into them.
Kanye needs to get decent beats and whine less. I picked up My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy based on the hype and it's meh at best. There's a few decent-okay tracks like "Power" and "Monster" though.
Music is in my opinion a expression of the musicians soul and this guy doesn't seem to have one... explains why he almost always uses samples and has a monstrous ego.
