[QUOTE="Rocky32189"][QUOTE="vlin1108"]Why not? You are believing concepts without any evidence to justify them. The bible says that if you do not believe in these concepts (even though there is no reason to) you will go to hell. I have a question for you: I assume you believe that god is a reasonable being and he gave us the right to make our own decisions based on factual evidence. Why would he torture us for eternity simply for using the reason that he gave us? Why does he teach that a good atheist goes to hell but a bad Christian goes to heaven (if they repent)?A religious person has no reason to fear eternal damnation.

I don't believe anything. A belief implies that you don't know if something is true or not. I know that God is real on the other hand. I have faith that whatever God decides to do is just and good, however.

How do you know that god exists? Unless you can answer this question, your religion is a belief. So god gave me the gift to make reasonable decisions based on the evidence put before me. Looking at the evidence I see that there is no proof that god exists and that the story of creation in the bible can not be correct based on current scientific understanding. I make the decision that god probably doesn't exist. God makes me burn in hell for eternity as a consequence. It doesn't matter if I am a charity worker, how many sins I made, or what good I did on earth. I get sent straight to hell while a sinning Christian who repents on his death bed gets a free pass to heaven.
This is "just and good" in your opinion?

The fact that you claim to know rather than believe is a little scary. After all, suicide bombers often commit their acts on the grounds that their convictions have passed from mere beliefs into the actual knowledge that they are serving God and will pass into a better world. Granted, your "knowledge" is probably less extreme in consequence, but that religion is capable of providing that level of certainty without the need for evidence makes it a devastating weapon, in the wrong hands.

see thats ignorance right there all of a sudden that person is bad for what he believes in? and if i remeber correctly dosent the bible say dont judge?
Bible also says to put people to death for almost anything, like working on Sundays... "For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death." (Exodus 35:2) So, it's more like, don't judge, just kill kill kill!nothing i have seen, felt, heard, or experienced has led me to believe anything supernatural exists. including what has been told to me by persons of authority such as parents, teachers, etc...comp_atkinsthank you. i agree and what if religion is the ultimate weapon to use against a non christain country? for instance christianity (u.s.a) at war with islam( middle east)

I know because I have seen God.
Material evidence is irrelevant as the belief itself (as illustrated in the Bible) is enough to be able to make anyone believe in God, since all humans share a bond with Him.
I doubt a charity worker would be sent to Hell if he isn't Christian, but a good person. Everyone's a sinner, but as I've said before, there are no bad Christians. The word itself implies following Jesus.

I am not a Muslim. I know that harming people is wrong when you aren't serving God (see: Moses).

It's enough to say that God saved me from almost certain death. Now before you start rolling your eyes I'd like to say that I was a kid back then; I didn't even know what God (Jesus) looked like.

What does Jesus look like? If I recall, nobody has a picture of him nor were there any direct paintings of him. Only a description of him, which could match any number of people. The only imagery we see of jesus is artists interpritation of what he looks like.
Correct me if I am wrong, though.

[QUOTE="-Jiggles-"][QUOTE="vlin1108"]I choose to be a Christian because God's word is the only way. I've noticed that people who don't follow religion have a void in their life; they are unhappy, cynical and mockingly blasphemous. Seeing such sadness only strengthens my faith in God, but I fear for those lost souls that call themselves atheists/agnostics.vlin1108
I do not believe in any religion, but I'm also a very positive and mentally-stable individual. I reside in a small-yet-cozy home in the United States, live under the guidance of my caring parents and am currently deep in love with a beauitful woman I am proud to call my girlfriend--this is something not everybody can boast about across the world, whether they believe in a specific religion or not. I am thankful every day for the wonderful life I've been given, and I'm much happier now than I ever was when I was younger (and religious at the time).
Don't you perhaps feel as if something is lacking in your life? I will leave you to your decision in the hope that time will change your perspective; when growing old (or older) people start thinking more deeply about things, about an afterlife.
Yes, but that's irrelevant with religion, unless God is the grand decider of whether or not I get a job at Best Buy within the next two months.
I believe in evolution, but I don't believe in carbon dating... after a long time period.vlin1108But, doesn't evolution go completely against the story of creation told within Genesis in the bible? One tells us that God created the universe 6000 years ago including all the plants and animals as we know them today in seven days. The other tells us that everything we see today is the product of a gradual process (billions of years) of evolution, natural selection, etc. They both can't be right, can they?
