no, we can go through this one at a time, your brain cannot hold too much information, you may just forget this all over night only to then post your sh!t the following day, tell me, what is your point?

I already got a translation for that text , why re translate it ? Here it is again "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing: But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they (Apostate) turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them". This command to kill or slay is in all mainstream translations.

lets try not to twist meanings , shall we ? :)

says the person twisting the information ugh the hypocracy lol

this is to answer your question about the sorah.

The thing is that the ahadith(the sunnah) are the explanations for our actions. Like how to pray, how many rak'at etc.
So these narrations that you posted up are in accordance to the law of Allah, they are sahih and they have been agreed upon by the ulama in the action there in(kiilling the one who exits the religion), as it was the practice of the Prophet Muhammadand the khulufa arashedeen.
Aside from that some verse that point to the fact that murtad has done something great and is deserving of a punishment that I found in some of the books of fiqh are verses 38-39 of surah anfal..
Say to those who have disbelieved, if they cease (from disbelief) their past will be forgiven. But if they return (thereto), then the examples of those (punished) before them have already preceded (as a warning).
And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: i.e. worshipping others besides Allah) and the religion (worship) will all be for Allah Alone [in the whole of the world]. But if they cease (worshipping others besides Allah), then certainly, Allah is All-Seer of what they do.

they are not DIRECT sayings of the prophet, ever heard of chinese whispers? its like Rebecca said that Adam said that Bob said so and so, the Hadith can never fully be matched side by side to the Quran, one of the beauty of islam is that it has stood the test of time, the Qu'ran has not been changed even by a singe word or letter, even the mathematical symmetry is still present, the Qu'ran is against killing of the innocent, going as far as saying if you take the life of an innocent, you have taken the life of all of humanity, the hadiths mentioning killing those who leave islam is no shock, at the time of the prophet, violence was rampant, do you know anything about how the situation was in Arabia? not to mention it was sandwiched between Rome and Persia, tell me, how does one leave islam? and how will the people around him know? there is a gamespot memeber here called Ghokle, if he went Saudi Arabia right now would he be killed? he obviously has to do something outright stupid in order for that to happen, the whole reason of killing those who betray the prophet at the time was becuase at back then, all those who left islam had an agenda to kill the propet or his followers, to scheme with the powerfull elite at that time, how do you think he was so succesful with what he did, you are taking hadith, and useing your own agenda to suit it to your needs.

Hadith is the prophets saying inspired by god , the purpose is to explain religion/quran texts to people . And yes , apostasy laws and others are still being applied in the Islamic world that follows sharia law , you said it your self , it stood the test of time , meaning these laws are still in effect to this day . so yes that guy would get killed if he denounced his faith publicly , how do i know ? I'm an ex-Muslim . However , lets not get into too much detail here , The text is clearly in favor of killing apostates , the guy in the topic clearly was one so they followed gods orders and killed him . Clear now ? My point , don't act surprised when your people do such things , it's in their texts to do so .

Beware! Whoever is cruel and hard on a non-Muslim minority, or curtails their rights, or burdens them with more than they can bear, or takes anything from them against their free will; I (Prophet Muhammad) will complain against the person on the Day of Judgment. (Abu Dawud)

Basically, Allah/God is forgiving and you should not do non-believers any rong. You cannot force anyone into Islam, as numerously stated in the Koran. If God wanted everyone to be a muslim, he could have compelled everyone into believing and there would not have been a need for a messenger. Instead, it's a test whether to see who believes and who not.

you're to blind to even comprehend that, like i said, you will find whatever it takes to find a fault with islam, but nothing will stop its growth and the amount of people who come to islam, and our Prophet knew this.

It's because of apologists like you who don't know jack about their own religion . Trust me if given the opportunity , thousands would denounce their faith . I know many ex-Muslims who wouldn't dare announce it publicly simply because they fear for their lives or being denounced by their families .

I remember reading a while ago they caught an Imam for desecrating a Quran but what he had done was desecrated it and tried using the desecrated Quran as evidence against another, that 11 year old Christian girl with Down Syndrome, he just wanted Christian out of the area and he tried doing this to stir up people just too get his way. I think it'd be very easy to do this just to blame someone else. In this case we have a "traveler" and they must not have liked him so I can easily see the motive of someone else desecrating a Quran to try blaming it on him... maybe they should just have a law in these countries like you're responsible for your Quran and all Qurans must be registered with the local theocrats with a make model year and serial number, if someone else desecrates it and they find it then its your fault and you're just as culpable, if that were to happen I don't think anybody would be getting pinched for this crap again.

Wrong. Most of the intolerance I see in this thread is from the non religious. If you're going to justify hate then stop whining when hate leads to actions such as this.

Religions across the world are some of the most intolerant things we have, and I place apologetics like LJ in there with them because they allow their own kind to get away with it and go "oh just tolerate everyone." Sorry, they had their chance for thousands of years

I just don't think LJ understands (or wants to understand) the difference between being intolerant of people restricting the freedoms of others, and being intolerant of others freedoms.

It's a world of difference.

An example of the intolerance you were just whiningabout . In any cast , This topic was spicific , the topic was about a man being burned for "allegedly" tearing pages out of a book , people here criticizedthese actions . would you have them criticizejews about this case so it wouldn't be so "intolerant" .It's a topic showing how intolerant muslims can be , of course people are gonna critisizeIslam.

Allthishate

They shouldn't. That's as stupid as to say that if Lanza killing 20 elementary children was a cristian/muslim, it would not have happened. Religion detests killing of children but because he was an atheist...this was allowed to happen. Atheism killed those 20 children. You atheists have blood on your hands, BLOOD of CHILDReN!

Do you see how f!$%#@ stupid that sounds? You do? Good...cause that's how stupid you are if you pin this on religion.

Dont bother ljs is a bigot/racist/ignorant keyboard warrior

 I'm the one in here saying not to blame religion and you call me the bigot. What a dumb ass tool.

And in this thread we have some topic about a group that burned a man alive as vigilantes. I don't think you understand the difference....or don't want to understand...between an organization sanctioned punishment and vigilantes. Which have as yet NOT come forward with their reasons. But then it's easier to assume than use some critical thinking as to why something happened so I'll leave you to your cocoon of ignorance.

Are you seriously suggesting religion itself is tolerant? Is that why being gay will still get you hanged in many religiously-affiliated countries? Hell, even here in the 'Land of the Free' the religious are throwing a fit over the free exercise of will.

Dear dumb ass...this is where you entered my conversation with someone else and then tried to pretend the discussion had changed. It hadn't...your stuck your nose in the conversation and when called on what it was about....lied. Straight out lie. In your case...you're just dishonest and stupid.

Dishonest yet again. I was the one that brought up intolerance. Nonetheless you stuck your stupid nose in a conversation you didn't understand and when called on it said you didn't discuss it. Oh...and get the quote chain straight....they teach computer skills in kindergarten now....

The quote chain was screwed up in your post when I quoted it, I didn't bother to straighten it out and I'm not going to.

Further, please read my "ebb and flow" comment above. When I quoted the conversation it had moved as a subject to general intolerance, as you yourself admit above. If you want people to stay out of your conversation, that's what PMs are for. If you post here, it's open to public comment.

That's why it's called a Public Forum.

We've been through this, and you've so much as admitted "I'm the one who brought up intolerance". Yes, you brought it up, and I furthered the discussion.

You then turned the conversation to personal attacks and squealing like a baby when you failed to address my final point, which isn't just addressing this conversation but you and your opinions as you have shared in many threads, that point being this:

You fail to differentiate between being intolerant of those who wish to oppress the freedoms of others, and being intolerant of the freedoms of others.

Instead of addressing the issue presented, you throw a fit.

Not that such surprises me, anymore. Religious folk are good at falling into hysterics when confronted with evidence they don't want to acknowledge.

No you responded to my comment...when I responded to what you said....you whined that the thread had changed. Which had nothing to do with entering my conversation. And after several posts it's apparent you still don't get that. Which is pretty sad and says much about your intelligence. Lack thereof....

Please pay attention. You and I responded to each other, then wisboi responded and I responded to him...which is the originating comment for our current discussion.

Please re-read the thread if you've already forgotten what happened ONE PAGE AGO.

As you can see, the topic being discussed is INTOLERANCE and YOU.

Oh are you still trying to make points? You were wrong then and quoting it over makes you wrong twice. I guess it's true some people don't learn from their mistakes. And because two morons discuss me on a forum just says more about them than it does myself. Nonetheless.....you still got yourself involved in my conversation.....I gave you the quote. But keep trying. 73% of OT is stupid enough to think you make points.
