Its safer than alcohol, you cannot overdose on it, etc. It is the most popular drug out there, and the reason for the majority of people in jail (which we are are paying taxes for) the government could tax it and make profit instead.

agree with guru, these threads just start fights>stupid rivalries>angry potheads>moderations>frustration.

So I believe anyone with a right mind would hit the "back" button and discuss something more important. IMO.

The drug companies would never allow this to happen, they make too much money from over the counter and perscription drugs that weed can replace at a much lower price.. That the drug companies have absolutely no control over this product.

Near the border? You mean way past it right? :P

Ah, these threads are getting near the border with annoying for me. I can't speak for anyone else. "Girl-help" threads are way too overabundant here that I don't even bother to read the entire original post(or click on the thread for that matter). However, we all know the "You Laugh, You Lose" threads are pure win. I also like race-related threads because it always presents a long discussion. I never cared much more religious threads though.

Wow, I have never thought of that, seems like a legitimate reason. I think also because marijuana can be so easily grown practically anywhere it would destroy the tobacco company, tobacco being difficult to grow on your own.

It probably wouldn't hurt tobacco too much, it would probably help it if anything. Or the tobacco growers could just utilize fields for hemp/marijuana, it makes a lot of economical sense too. If I had a nickel for every time someone said "Now I need a smoke" after getting stoned...

Yeah people clearly seem to be very nieve on points on this with the lobbying industries.. It took decades for any one to pin ANYTHING negative on tobacco, and the first thing they could pin on it was common sense bs.. That it could cause house fires due to people falling asleep with it, YES it took them a LONG time to even legally prove that..

I'd be more in favor of decriminalization of it. I don't see any reason why I should be legally able to get high on weed, but at the same time, it is ridiculous how many people are going to prison for harmless drug infractions.

Just decriminalize it. But keep it illegal.

Gange should be legalized, as it is potentially less harmful than booze or tobacco.

It shouldn't be ILLEGAL, but it should be REGULATED. That way, you know that you are getting product from a safe source and companies won't go out of buisness.

That's just absurd, marijuana causes cancer, makes you stupid, and it's addicting. I don't see why anyone would even try it (unless they're daft of course).

Dunno about the cancer thing, but the other two are false. I'm an AP student, and I choose to smoke when I want. I never get the "cravings" one would get if it were addicting.

.... Marijuana is not chemically addictiing.. Studies have shown that caffiene is far more addicting.. And the whole "making you stupid" thing is no greater than what products like beer does where the average adult consumes some on a weekly basis..

I'm strictly against it. I know it may seem like it sometimes, but adding anotherrecreational drugto the free market is not going to benefit us in the long run.

Correct.

It should be legalized.

While you can find flaws in anything, the negatives of cannabis are far less harmful than automobiles, tobacco, alcohol, skydiving, skateboarding, swimming...

What makes you think the usage of marijuana will increase upon legalization? I would argue that there would not be many more users of it upon legalization...especially since many people just do it as a symbol of "rebellion". That wouldn't be the case if it were legal. There aren't many people out there that don't smoke because it is illegal and then start smoking upon legalization... Even if everyone did start doing it, "productivity" would not go down. That is utter bull****. Lazy people are lazy and productive people are productive. Marijuana would not change that.
