[QUOTE="tjoeb123"]I've said it before, and I guess I'll say it again, louder and clearer: F%CK YOU, SOPA AND PIPA. F%CK YOU, PEOPLE WHO BROUGHT MEGA(site) TO ITS KNEES. F%CK YOU, ALL WHO SUPPORT ALL OF THIS BULLSH1T. F%CK YOU. F%CK YOU ALL.IBullseye
Could not have put it better myself.

bro don't knock ubisoft they are very clever and invented italyIs Youtube going to be banned as well? I know people upload movies illegally there. :SMr_Cumberdale
nope. youtube, has to much power,
I really don't like the fact that they can shut down a website on accusations of copyright infringement. Not that I'm defending megaupload since it's a clear violator. :P
This could get quite interesting. MegaUpload has always claimed they comply with the DMCA, and if there isn't a smoking gun that proves otherwise, the prosecution is going to have some trouble making their case. From a timing standpoint, people are making the argument that this is going to bolster support for SOPA/PIPA. I disagree. IMHO, this actually bolsters the case that existing laws are sufficient to prosecute copyright violators. MysticGenieWhile I disagree with SOPA by what it allows free reign, it wasn't about servers on the homefront. Those have always been easy to take down. SOPA was about access to servers abroad that do not fall under the same laws that we can apply to companies in the United States. There STILL is a need for correcting that issue, but SOPA isn't the answer.
"The indictment accuses seven individuals and two corporations -- Megaupload Limited and Vestor Limited -- of costing copyright holders more than $500 million in lost revenue from pirated films and other content."
Could someone please sit the entire federal government down and explain to them that a copy downloaded is not a sale lost?

Kind of like that Albanian sports streaming site that shall not be named.
Megauploads was shut down due to piracy complaints, so how do they know the site cost them $500 million. It would be really interesting to see if they bring that logic to a judge without any kind of proof. Jd1680a
That number made me rofl when I first read it. They think the people are stupid and can't see that they're just pulling numbers out of thin air. What a joke this all is.

Source, just curious?
That aside, just face palming that people think MU is virus infested, some sites singing RIP already and think they're so well off with MU down and other's untouched - good shows on naivety. First they came for...
We can only pray this takes the pirate bay route.monkeymoose5000It can't, TBP survived because they store a relatively small ammount of data compared to the amount of content available, you can't just hide a datacentre as big as megaupload's
Since when does our government use only the power they constitutionally possess? (Including but not limited to this current administration). How is this possible? Wasn't the bill denied?
InEMplease
Sounds like Anonymous didn't bother to check the facts before they lashed out. Megaupload was doing some serious shady dealings and massively profiting off stolen copyrighted material. The U.S. Goverenment was in the right here.Oh snap.
