[QUOTE="needled24-7"]

[QUOTE="mattbbpl"] I find it hard to believe that smoking anything doesn't increase the risk of lung cancer since smoke is generally filled with carcinogens.

That being said, if others want to destroy their own bodies more power to them. Who am I to say they aren't free to do so?mattbbpl

well smoking definitely isn't good for you, but moderate smoking of marijuana won't cause you lung cancer since you take a lot less inhales than you would if you smoked cigarettes. plus, using a vaporizer is pretty good

Technically speaking, the introduction of carcinogens into your body even once is enough to cause cancer although the risk would be extremely low. It's basically a law of averages type of thing: Every time you smoke you take on a very small risk. The more times you smoke, the larger the overrall risk becomes.

Pot is a carcinogen? Last time I checked it was tobacco with 4,000 different chemicals in it:?

Not pot, but smoke in general. All carbon based substances produce carcinogens when they combust.

Ah, I see. I used to smoke cigs but now I just puff the dragon. I feel much healthier for it nowadays.

So quick question OT, do you think this will spread to the other states quickly? Or is this a one hit wonder? And what are the chances of this bill passing? According to the reading it said it was a very slim chance. :?

Let those who want to assume the risks of it use it, tax it, and end a large portion of the so-called drug war.mattbbpl
that's not 'the middle', that's full blown legalization. 'the middle' would be "well, let's not immediately give people life sentences for an ounce."

it's an exaggeration on the 'three strikes' laws which are about as bad, just more socially accepted.

if that is an exaggeration then i do not know what is. this is not baseball. why three strikes anyway... it didn't work for me with christ and now i live the rest of my life heart broken and shamed. although i do not deny him right now. we must be up to 325 denials and counting, whoops... theres another. not.

Depending on how much you pay, its not that bad. My friends are big pot heads and they pay upwards of $350 for an ounce of good stuff.

An ounce to what I know is quite a lot of marijuana so it seems reasonable as its being taxed the same as tobacco, I always thought the war on drugs was a bit excessive, myself living in holland I find it a good idea as I haven't seen or heard of ay drug related crimes were I go and such, it also makes it more appealing to stick with the legal marijuana then move on to harder illegal drugs

Great, soon smokers will get ripped off by corporate growers and government taxation rather than their dealers. Expect a price hike and quality drop... and expect that to be protected by a lobby as powerful as the tobacco lobby.

I have respect for the recreational movement because they are being honest of there motives. Not like the medical marijuana movement that is a bunch ofaddicts trying to explain pseudo science.

.. Seeing as California is sinking into debt, if they could find another product they could tax for money.. Then I wouldn't be surprised to see some politicians actually support this with how desperate the state really is.
