The bands I enjoy are mostly indie-rock like City and Color, Death Cab for Cutie, Against Me!, Animal Collective, Iron & Wine ect.

what are some in this genre I might enjoy?

For a double-header if you don't mind I also enjoy harder-rock/metal bands like Mastodon, Hurt, Atreyu ect.

what are some others I might enjoy in this genre?

Film-Guy

Indie rock wise, you should try the bands Beach House, Spoon, Okkervil river, SHearwater, Maximo park, The Dear Hunter, and Damien rice.

Thanks man, I'll be sure to check these out.

So if you can reccomend anythng else Avant-Garde that would be cool. My knowledge of the music is pretty big but I'm always looking for something new.

if you really want to.....

hip-hop = aesop rock - mr lif - cypress hill (kind a died on me though) - cannibal ox - cool calm pete - junk science - despot(if i can find any) - del the funky h (well some of his stuff) - pharacyde (not many tracks) - rjd2 (LOVE)

not a huge hip-hop fan (i know, its in my name), i tend to appreciate the dj work more than than rap (hence the rjd2 love)

rock = the pixes - elbow - red hot chilli peppers - nirvana - travis - bloc party - blur

not much of a rock fan either, i normally like to here stranger sounding rock

electro/techno/dance = hotchip - groove armada - fatboy slim - daft funk - calvin harris - chemical brothers - pendulum - moby - the prodigy

other (pop/chill out stuff) = leon jean marie - massive attack - gorrillaz - zero7 - portishead - the ting tings - cinematic orchestra - 4hero.

genres might be a little messed up, not sure about some. good luck with that. il keep a look at this thread so dont be afraid to do mine months later ..... lol :D

Is this going to replace your 'Band of the Week' thread? Cause I liked that better.

If you're still doing it you should check out

The Death Set

Memory Cassette

Plugs (Fans of Does It Offend You, Yeah? probably know about them already, but still.)

Dr Manhattan

(Dr Manhattan isn't that great, but they've got potential and are 100x better live)
