I was originally going to weigh in with my views when I saw this topic title. But after 9 pages of pseudo-racism, im just left feeling morally numb.

Im an athiest living in the UK, and I do have some muslim friends, some of them want Sharia(sp? sorry its late) law; others don't. I'm not in favour of it but I don't want to cast away those friends that do; nor do they cast me away.

Though as far as I'm concerned if I go to Dubai, I abide Dubai law and so forth. And also, as far as I'm aware, under Sharia law women are sort of second class citizens - I think one of my friends told me that in a trial 1 male witness is equivilent to 2/3 female witnesses? - and that goes against equality which I for one, hold very dear. So therefore im obviously against its introduction (although adimittedly I don't really know all that much about it).

Hm..... I have to be around muslims quite a bit now because a lot have moved in nearby areas. At work I help a lot of them, I'd say just over half are ignorant pigs to me, the others are nice people and are happy for assistance.

However there is over half that I deal with that are very rude and look at me as if they think they are better, I can tell thats what there thinking. But I suppose every community is different, maybe they are rude to me because people judge them before they know them?

Listen pal im a MUSLIM and i can tell you that your the most delluded (sp) person ive come across on these forum. we dont want to impose sharia law you dipstick.

There is a verse in the quran that says "it is forbidden to force islam on anybody" so what your suggesting is totally wrong

oh and kuffer means someone who doesnt believe in god. christians and jews were given a book from god so how come they be kuffer.

stop listening to the media and go read the quran thats what muslims believe in

i have christian/jewish/hindu freinds and i treat them the same as my muslim freinds

It's entirely possible for him to know his friends' religions without that influencing him.

I'm guessing you are either quite young or maybe naive? Religion affects the world a great deal, tbh it is not in a good way either :/ I can't understand why people believe in religion and maybe the world would be a better place without it, but thats just my opinion.

But to be honest, knowing the religion of your peers isnt an unawkward question is it? It's not like a taboo now is it. Also it can reduce problems such as hindu's not being able to eat beef or muslims not being able to eat haraam (spelling) meat and only halal meat excluding pork which is not allowed regardless.

quite young... i dont think so im 20 years old and ive been reading quran since i was 4 years old. if you live life by a religion it basically teaches be kind to others obey god whats wring with that?
