MCR is not emo
EVOLV3
Then click on the link for emo and read the definiton...just because someone edited to say that they are emo doesn't make them emo. I could edit it right now if I wanted, it still wouldn't change the fact that they are pop, which oddly enough is kinda the opposite of emo.
Theres a link to All Music Guides page on MCR a few pages back which is written by a music journalist. The page makes no mention of them being emo. Look at AMG's page on emo, it will not mention MCR or any artists similar to MCR.
Care to back up on what you're saying without using Wiki as a reference?
No because he is ignorant
No they make pop music. That's why they are on the pop music charts. Pop and Emo are not even close. Emo is very similar to hardcore punk. MCR is not even close. What proof do you guys have that MCR is emo. It's such a stupid thing to think.
Throwing this out there...
Musically they are more akin to Green Day, blink-182 and other pop punk bands. They don't have that "emo" thing (pretencious lyrics, rushed lyrical delivery, breakdowns) that bands like Panic at the Disco or Fall Out Boy seem to possess (but you'd also find people claiming they aren't emo either.)
I think their style is emo. Mainly because I see emo kids at the mall who look identical to the boys in MCR.
[QUOTE="lonewolf604"]emo is short for emotional hardcore, which is a branch from hardcore punk, MCR is NO WHERE NEAR that genre, they are pop-punk/alternative. -Austin-
at least some one gets it

Not true.Yes....It was like me and the guy with The Cure signature against like 4 people who thought that MCR was emo
Just because you write sad lyrics doesnt make you emo. Is The Cure emo? Hell no. Im not saying that The Black Parade doesnt blow but ppl should also check out the old stuff before talking.msi276
Agreed. I don't see the big whoop about being emo anyway. It's not like I'm gonna not listen to a band cause they're classed as something. Hell, if it's good music I give it a listen :)
