"friendship"..."tolerance." Pfft, such antiquated notions. Why does so much hate generate from a show about friendship and tolerance? :?

Ok so I watched an episode and it's a good show...but the obsession over it is kind of creepy. Ok not kinda but really creepy. I myself don't really have a desire to watch anymore episodes but I could've seen myself watching it with my daughter and enjoy it. I wouldn't go out of my way to view it though.

A lot of people like to show pride in things they are fans of. It's not always an obsession. I mean just look at many of the users here, having signatures of singers, games, films along with an avatar from the same form of things they are fans of. Maybe even joining a related union to it too. But they're rarely ever classed as obsessed?
I don't really see how it should be treated any differently with this show just because it looks "childish". Doesn't a lot of Nintendo games look a little childish too? Isn't Mario aimed towards younger kids? Yes, and still many adults play and enjoy the games, but for some reason no one hates on that? What's the difference?
Think I got a bit carried away there, but it does annoy me a little...

In general though I'd rather not argue. I just don't like people judging and being stereotypical with no good cause, or a biasd opinion to back them up. Makes me feel the need to retaliate to a modest degree.
The only problem with mlp is not the show itself but it's fans.
Just look at who created this thread.
[QUOTE="lightleggy"][QUOTE="coolbeans90"]you implying that me liking MLP has anything to do with my sexuality?Well if this was real life and you were over 11 then I would think different about such people.I don't try to understand the sexual preferences of others.

wow, just wow... you can pretty much like to play with barbies, it wont make you gay...as long as you are happy with your sexual prefference then its not wrong to look on stuff that are made "for the other genre" most tomboy girls (like rainbow dash) are not lesbians, but they are still tomboys.
Might be aimed for that audience, but the show is cleaverly written, you can actually enjoy it, laugh with it, its a good show aimed for youngster, which parents can enjoy as well.Isn't my Little Pony made for young girls?

It makes me feel like a rebel ina good feel.
You made the Cartoon Crush thread one of the creepiest yet awesome OT threads in history(better than most YLYLs) but please don't take this to religion threads terriotory. Damn I miss OT's glory days. It was always like this.I want to have....relations....with the ponies.....

You know, when I wrote that I thought the same thing as I looked at my Eminem avatar/sig. Then I realized I'm one of the few with a sig of him and how much I am a fan of his work. With those two considered, especially the latter, it gives me that weird vibe now when I watched something like that and witnessed a good amount of adolescent males representing their interests in something like My Little Ponies. It's one thing to like it, I even admitted that I like what I saw, but it's another to constantly use gifs, pictures, or use "magic pony talk" (best way I could describe it). I think it's just a fad.
Nintendo games aren't really comparable because they don't have much of the "girlie" charm. I think Powerpuffgirls would be a better comparison. Now, I watched Powerpuff Girls when I was younger, still try to catch it some time on boomerang. The thing is, when I was younger all my guy friends and I would say we liked it and everything but the conversation would end at that. We wouldn't talk about how cute Bubbles was or whatever. I don't know, the whole thing doesn't sit well with me but you really shouldn't let it offend you cause it's just my opinion. If you like it then more power to you man. :)

We're not forcing anything on anyone. We're just minding our own business. Heck, as soon as I saw this thread, I redirected TC to our union, so this thread could die before the haters came.
But no, apparently someone insisted on bringing in the hate.
We're not harming anyone.
Guildclaws was a member of our union, and all he did was trashing the show. I asked him kindly why he was there if he disliked the show so much. I am so bloody tired of those that hate on our show, and on us, just because we're around. If you hate MLP FiM so much, stay away from us. Simple.
Stay. Away.
But I like the hatin. It provides so much material I can use for comedy, like how I use Charlie Sheen pics a lot in the FIM union.[QUOTE="Dystopian-X"]

I don't know. I thought about it and such, and I think the union members representing here are sick that people here are stereotyping them as homosexual a lot even if they just like the show for the sake of thinking it's good. I do see your point though, but I think everyone's built to have a fascination of something. Another thing is that a lot of people today are getting sick of having to stick to certain tastes because of their gender or socialcla ss or something. Like how in Eminem's case, that all good rappers need to be black(he even wrote a lyric sayimg he'd sell half if he was black). It's just that the bronies here are sick of being constantly derided here for doing that, but then again, they're in the same OT category of rap fans, mainstream music fans(seriously I hate the metal fans here, I'm sorry), and Call of Duty fans.

That's a respectable opinion and a nicer way to look at it. It would be nice if more people thought like that.
I can see why a constant flow of the same GIFS randomly popping up all the time would annoy someone. I myself get annoyed by repetitive comments on YouTube in a identical way.
I don't personally see too many show up though apart from in the MLP union we have here, but it's to be expected there. :P

The homosexual stuff is uncalled for. And I can agree that the show is good (or at least the two episodes I saw) Even if I think it's weird that they're fascinated with the show to such an extent I can easily accept it. I'm not here to criticize anybody's television interests. Nobody else should either. In the case they do, you gotta take it cause at the end of the day you still think the show's great and that's all that really matters.

If it weren't for the My Little Pony brand, the show would probably be even more popular than it already is. Or maybe not, because then people wouldn't be so defiant about it.

Well, I actually like the show.
I do get the feeling that a lot of the "fanbase" we see here on the internet is all just centered around the meme, but whatever. If they're real (and not stating that they're attracted to the ponies... o_O) then all of the power to them. Men should be allowed to like girly stuff, too.

There are a lot of genuinally passionate fans. Just look at the amount of fansites up and number of pieces of fanfiction written. It's not a meme or a fad.

I'd be hard pressed to believe that. I know of many people on forums that have MLP:FiM avatar/signature themes but don't watch the show. It is a meme in part and that can't be denied.
Of course, there are people (like me) who actually like the show, but there is definitely a meme going on here.
