New Users/Bad Manners

Does it seem to you that a lot ofnew users are awfully cocky? Why do you think this is?

I'll notice a post that is rude and unnecessary, and 9/10 I will look at the poster's avatar and see Level5-7 with 50-150 posts, which indicates a new user. I thinka lot of the time this is because they areattempting to build a sort of "badass" reputation, sosome of theolder users on GS will think of it as'clever', or cool, I'm not really sure. Maybe it's just me.

Note: I only mentioned the leveling system as emphasis on the fact that it is new accounts in which I've noticed this behavior most often.

I'm not nearly as bad as I used to be.. though many will not notice it. I've put in a large effort to be more.. pleasant. I'm still doing a bad job, but I promise I will improve!.

Not all new users are rude. (at least I hope I'm not...) The reason that you don't see older users doing that, cause after a while, they get kicked.

hes been a member since 2003 hes far from new, he may have also had point losses and was downed levels for it

You're not a cynical jerk but you created a thread just to complain about rude users? I don't think how new or old you are to this website has ANYTHING to do with how much of a jerk you are. Jerks are jerks just as friendly people are friendly. I try to live in love personally. Makes everyone much happier around me ususally.

Sometimes I see rude posts by people of levels higher than 15 or so

I guess I see what you mean, but I still don't think how new or old they are in a forum has much to do with it. This is just a place for discussion and people know that. There's gonna be jerks no matter how many posts they have or what level they're at.

I've definetely seen noobs like that, but not as many on this site as there are on other sites.

You're right, I do see that a lot. That's why I make an effort to personally throw a brick at every member two or more levels less than me. Newbies learn through pain.

I really haven't noticed the pattern your talking about. I really don't remember the new users, so they all blend together. But I've seen people of all levels have bad manners towards others.

Well judging from what I can see from other websites (gaming ones especially) and see how loose they are in terms of enforcing moderation, it is natural for people to come here and expect the same level of freedom in regards to their posts.

They'll quickly learn their manners after a few moderations here... hopefully
