New Users/Bad Manners

Does it seem to you that a lot ofnew users are awfully cocky? Why do you think this is?

I'll notice a post that is rude and unnecessary, and 9/10 I will look at the poster's avatar and see Level5-7 with 50-150 posts, which indicates a new user. I thinka lot of the time this is because they areattempting to build a sort of "badass" reputation, sosome of theolder users on GS will think of it as'clever', or cool, I'm not really sure. Maybe it's just me.

I'm fairly new...i try not to have "bad manners"...and i've seen people of all levels with bad manners...:x

i've been on gamespot for years and i have yet to be level 50 nor fit in the role of the arrogant jerk :|

dont generalize people by their levels, not everyone has time to post every second. some people like me, lurk the forums for years.

Being new was awesome. You could do whatever you wanted, and no one would remember it was you. 8)

I'm not nearly as bad as I used to be.. though many will not notice it. I've put in a large effort to be more.. pleasant. I'm still doing a bad job, but I promise I will improve!.

-but I just think that they have not had a chance to get modded enough yet
-either they change their behavior or they get banned...simple as that

But I see your point. On another forum I post at, the new members often try to make themselves look as cool as possible. All you have to do is talk with them and help them relax.

This place has become awfully hollow. Most of the decent users are gone, as are the decent topic makers, there was a time when OT had debate, now it is just inane topics, and I mean more than it was in the past. The new users are mostly faceless and have nothing to define them.

New User = Bad Manners

He is saying that
Rude/Unnecessary Post USUALLY = from a new user

There is a big difference in those 2 statements

I think that's because sometimes those new users are actually old users that got banned and started a new account.guynamedbilly

Maybe you guys just see new users and think "oh, he's going to be a jackass" simply because that's what you expect. I'm not rude and I don't give a crap about being popular by pretending to be cool but a lot of new members would feel that they have to act cocky and "cool" in order to get your attention. All you have to do is talk them down, you know?

I hope that older users know they should use google...

someone who's lvl 30 or higher isn't going to want to take the chance to get banned. I think people who are high lvl have pride in their time here at gamespot and don't want all of that to go to waste. Although I don't think trolling the forums is going to get you a user ban.

I'd guess many of them aren't "new," but rather irritated ban dodgers trying to get a rise out of people. And I'd also guess that some people here use alt accounts to troll or say things they wouldn't want associated with their normal account. After all, your internet reputation is the most important thing in life, right?

its the attitude of gamers, they are rude and have a nasty sarcasm. Just go on ANY gaming board and you will see such silliness and and non stop stupid arguments. Go on XBL to witness all the foolishness gamers shout out and if you notice when you go into a chat with nothing but gamers, they scream racism and curse up a storm trying to act big.
