@iandizion713: NO! Just stop already, this is reality and you'll have to face it regardless!

Liberals are acting like Trump is going to kill all the gays, make slavery legal again, and take away women's rights....
Like he's a Muslim or something. lol
lol. Zing!
@Riverwolf007: I think you say that in jest so let me give you some fun reading.
http://blogs.findlaw.com/supreme_court/2015/10/13-worst-supreme-court-decisions-of-all-time.html
There are probably plenty of other terrible decisions.
You overturn those later when people wise up. That's how the system works.
The overall system has worked out mostly fine not counting a few exceptions.
One shitty decision for every what? few hundreds? Thousands?
@FireEmblem_Man: The American people voted for Hillary. All were asking is the Electors vote for Hillary too.
I think we should put it to twitter.
We could have her in charge in a few mins.

@Riverwolf007: It's going to be easier than you think because Trump is going to be relying on people heavily because he does not actually know how things work and has 0 experience governing.
Bullshit. Being a bad president will kill the Trump brand.
I doubt he will let that happen and it will be personal to him.
He has every reason in the world to do the best job he can.
That doesn't mean that he's capable of doing a good job to begin with...
@FireEmblem_Man: The American people voted for Hillary. All were asking is the Electors vote for Hillary too.
This would make sense if one's ability to think morally is completely absent.

Of course not. It means he is highly motivated and the kind of narcissistic asshole that would want to put in the kind of effort it takes to do the Job.
If he is the kind of crazy that craves adoration (which he is) i'm cool with that. But I'm the customer and he is going to earn his adoration and have it revoked and replaced with the opposite if he screws it up.
Technically, the "Not My President" statement is true, even for those who do support him: He's currently our president-elect, not our president.
I wonder what Obama will do to "poison the White House well" in his last few months. I wouldn't put it past him to contrive some sort of ugly foreign policy mess for Donald to inherit. War in Syria? War with Iran? War with Russia?
Whatever he has in mind, I'm sure he can count on Hillary to be an accomplice.
@FireEmblem_Man: The American people voted for Hillary. All were asking is the Electors vote for Hillary too.
What utter nonsense.
So you are pretty much saying subvert the will of the people.
And yes the people, because it´s the United STATES of America , not America the liberal land of the free as long as you are liberal.

I actually think this is better than the possibility of what Trump supporters would have done if Trump didn't win and didn't accept the outcome if Hillary won.
You know damn well they wouldn't be protesting.
I have no idea how this can be a known thing. Is it just because you think of them as respectable? Trump had been telling people for weeks that it's rigged, and that he would only accept the outcome if he won. It wouldn't be surprising at all if they were protesting a loss given that context.
Hell people were discussing actual civil war if the elites kept screwing them.
There were many elections that did not go the way I would have liked. I got up the next day and went to work as did the other people who felt as i did. When you are an adult you have to accept things are not always going to go your way but your life and responsibilities go on. The sun still comes up. What we are seeing is people that have been coddled all their life and don't know how to handle things that don't go their way. I like the new mane for college students "Snowflakes" it is very descriptive of how they are.
I won't participate, but I understand their anger, she won the popular vote and for anyone with at least half a brain, she was the better candidate. Unfortunately 46% of eligible voters didn't vote, erroneously believing a false equivalency whereby they think Hillary and Trump are equally bad.
Bill Maher said it best, Americans can know the finest details on sports radio or 100 different variations of dub step, but the won't bother to learn about important things like who will be running the country before they vote.
I think they did because they rejected Hillary.
@dropthepj: Amen, im an American and my vote didnt count.
How do you think Repubs who live in Cali have felt.....forever?
Stop crying about it and move on.
how do you figure? you were allowed to vote weren't you?
does cali have some messed up system that assigns greater weight to individual voters in one area vs. another area or is each vote counted individually?

I like calling people names too Jim. God I'm glad we have leadership who supports such views rather than derides us for being our own assholish selves am I right?
The petition to ask Electors to vote Hillary as President now has over 2 million signatures. Join the good ol fight, America voted for Hillary, not Trump.
https://www.change.org/p/electoral-college-electors-electoral-college-make-hillary-clinton-president-on-december-19
I think you people should learn how the Electoral College works and why it was incorporated in the electoral process. You are asking States where Trump won to change their votes because there are more Democrats on the coasts, doesn't work that way.
@JimB: It can if they want. There is no law that states they cant vote toward the will of the people. Come Dec. 19, they can do as they please. We arent asking them to break the law. Were asking them to vote for Hillary like the American people have voted for Hillary.

@Chutebox: Majority voted for Hillary, majority should get to pick. America didnt vote for Trump. We didnt want him.

I don't know if you realize this or not, but we don't live in a direct democracy. The United States is a Federal Republic. We elect representatives to vote for us on a federal level.

i don't agree that the vote didn't count at all, just that, depending on where you live, a vote is weighted to count more or less nationally.
so you are saying that the people in cali who vote republican feel their vote doesn't count when they clearly do.
1 person = 1 vote in california or am i mistaken?
is there a system there that assigns weights to those votes to skew them one way or another based on where in california they live? if that were the case your comment would make sense.
@plageus900: Yeah i know, it goes against the will of the people.
Should we overhaul our entire government and create a direct democracy?
@omnichris: Hate crime is virtue depending on who the violence is practiced on. Funny, I was just talking about this with a guy.
@plageus900: Yeah i know, it goes against the will of the people.

We should give the people what they want. The people voted for Hillary, not Trump. Every vote should count.

@iandizion713: You didnt answer my question. Do you think our government should become a direct democracy?
@Chutebox: Majority voted for Hillary, majority should get to pick. America didnt vote for Trump. We didnt want him.
The electoral ensures that each state has a voice. What your saying is people in the Midwest don't matter.
each state should have a voice proportional to it's population. currently that is not the case.
why should a voter in DC have more say than a voter in texas?
the system has failed now 5 of the last ~70 elections and stunningly twice in the last 16 years alone. it might to due for some modernization.
this isn't a partisan statement, it's a fairness statement.
@iandizion713: You didnt answer my question. Do you think our government should become a direct democracy?
I did answer your question. The peoples vote should count. It should go to the majority. The American people voted for Hillary, not Trump. We dont want Trump, we didnt vote for him.

I'm talking about the government as a whole.
@omnichris: Infowars.....I can't believe that place is still a thing.
Where the hell have you been? Who predicted the campaign outcome and who was calling for a Hillary blowout?
I mean cripes man. At some point the reality of who does and does not have credibility has to sink in right?
I'm as stunned as you that infowars has more credibility than cnn, msnbc, abc, cbs, fox and the comedy news but here we are.
@CWEBB04z: The electoral college means that individuals in some states matter less than others. The electoral college makes votes worth less. For example, Alaska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming have a combined population of >3,000,000 people and have a total of 12 electoral votes. Colorado has a population of 4,000,000 people but only gets 9 electoral votes. So the votes of the people in Colorado are worth considerably less.
Hell, even Trump agrees its a sham.

For the Presidential election, of course. The power should be in the peoples hand.

jesus finally someone that gets it and isn't trying to use it as a partisan dividing tool.
if you live in say alaska, in 2008 your vote counted more than TWICE as much as a person living in kentucky
@Riverwolf007: InfoWars has credibility? The guys from the birther movement, claim that Sandy Hook was staged, believe that same-sex marriage is a eugenics plot and the government is creating gay people? The same guys that believe Donald Trump is a Hillary plant, that the government controls the weather, or best yet, that 9/11 was an inside job?

Seconded, I'm warn out and don't feel like responding beyond that.

Yes Electoral votes can do what they please, which is called faithless electorals.
But they have never decided on a election and they should never do so.
So clinton supporters you lost get over it, Trump won and that's it.

... No it isn't, it has to do with the fact that every state (regardless of population) gets some say in the government.. By this logic we should abolish the Senate.. Montana has the exact same amount of senators as California.... Like Senator's, every state gets at least two electoral votes, as the compromise made to try to have some kind of equal representation of the states.. I am all ears for a better solution, and I don't see having direct population votes being a real solution, because it completely disregards why the system was put in there to begin with.
@Jacanuk: Hillary won the American peoples vote. Were just asking they legally do something that they can do even though it has never been done before. No reason to get upset, this is a legal action.
@Chutebox: Majority voted for Hillary, majority should get to pick. America didnt vote for Trump. We didnt want him.

Each state does have a voice proportional to its size.
California has 55 which is more than any other state. And almost 20 more than nr.2
@Jacanuk: Its not all equal though. Every vote should count. When the American people vote for Hillary like they did, they should receive Hillary.
@Jacanuk: Its not all equal though. Every vote should count. When the American people vote for Hillary like they did, they should receive Hillary.
What your talking about is completely disregarding the foundations of the US government.. The smaller states agreed to be apart of the union with this compromise in being given at least 2 electoral votes, regardless of population.. Just like how every state has two Senators, regardless of population.. This was the compromise that was struck between the big states and the small states..
@Chutebox: Majority voted for Hillary, majority should get to pick. America didnt vote for Trump. We didnt want him.

the proportionality isn't equal though, that is the real issue.
if you live in texas, yes you live in a state w/ more total EC votes than if you lived in maryland. however the number of EC votes PER CITIZEN is higher in maryland than texas. the people in texas are being punished by having their individual vote count less at the EC level than a person in maryland.
