I will be genuinely impressed if this supposed movement gains any traction. Because right now? It sounds like grand delusions.

And to remind you: every vote does count. As part of the system that has been in place since the nation began 240 years ago. Just because you're latching onto a meaningless part of the process doesn't change this fact. It's time to wake up.

Focus on the valid goal of changing the EC. Which I also doubt will happen so long as the country works the way it does.

No every vote doesnt count. My vote only counts in Florida. I am not allowed to have my vote united with my fellow Americans. I must stand divided from my people. Im an American, not a Floridian. So why does my vote only count in Florida?

@doozie78: We are trying to progress into a true Democracy where every vote counts. Among many other things.

You are mistaken. Every vote does count.

That is why electoral votes exist. It´s there to make sure that your vote counts as much as if you lived in Ohio or Washington or any of the 48 other states.

Just because you did not like the choice does not mean your vote did not count.

Also are you drunk? true democracy?

@mmmwksil: That petition is not to change a vote, no vote has been made yet. The vote takes place Dec. 19th. That petition is asking Electors to legally vote to reflect the will of the people. The American people voted for Hillary, not Trump. We will fight to remove the EC, but thats a much harder thing to achieve. But yes, its part of the progressive movement, so we will back it 100%.

Nice trolling there...

If the movement is real you are talking about the same kids who went Bernie or bust and where most stayed home and forgot that in a democracy , you need to vote otherwise shut up and get with the program.

Not to mention that most has the attention span of a goldfish like most young people today. So give in a few months and they will have moved on to the next cause.

Are you reading from a script or something? Not a single word that doesn't sound canned coming out of you. Just open your eyes, seek honest media, and give this guy a chance at least. If he turns out bad then yeah, i'd protest with you because I'm not a republican. What you're protesting now is complete bullshit.

Bro i cant help but sound scripted, ive done had to repeat our stance 100+ times to yall. We are giving Trump a chance to hear our voice. This is our true motive. We want Trump to know loud and clear the American people voted for Hillary, not him. We will make ourselves loud and clear on every single issue going forward. We will not be compromising in our voice. Liberalism is dead to us. We not longer support it as a majority.

@dante1972: Protesting is a part of American society and is the right of the people. If someone is breaking the law, you have our permission to arrest them.

@Jacanuk: As i have stated, my vote didnt count toward a united tally. My vote only counted in Florida. I am an American, not a Floridian. Why does my vote not count united and equal as everyone else. Why cant we have true democracy. Why are yall so against the will of the people?

So compromising for one of the worst possible corrupted candidates (Hillary) was fine and dandy but NOW you're changing and not compromising? That's a laugh. You don't seem to understand that America has chosen the candidate who literally is more pro-peace, Donald Trump.

People are fucking sick of war and corruption and you picked the cult that was going to get us into a war with Russia which was absolutely the worst possible outcome. He dodged a massive bullet for us, you should thank him if anything.

Well as is well known, you won't get what is simply called mob rule. For the time being just breathe and give the guy a chance to do something positive first, he certainly has the opportunity to bring positive changes for us. Now we wait for it to happen.

He's already killed off the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which is a good start!

It was bipartisan supported because a good portion of the whole US government are fucking sellout traitors to their own country. I agree we should hold their feet to the fires but you're still going about it all wrong, and you will see this in time.

Even mob-rule will not stop the corporate control of congress and the rest of government. You should be fighting to remove the money from politics. Remove the corporate control.

Hillary (and the dumbfuck Kaine) didn't fight against it! You really bought into the propaganda didn't you? She supported it until it was politically expedient to totally flip-flop like a moron over it. She has no backbone, and certainly isn't an honest person.

I don't have a party, i only voted for Trump to thrash globalists, and I really hope he lives up to my expectations. I was a Bernie supporter.

And as have been said again and again and again.

Your vote counted. The electoral system is in place to make sure that the hippies in california has the same voice as the hillbillies in the south and in a much smaller populated state.

If you disagree with the electoral system, then do what we all do in a democracy and work with the system and try to stir up a support for a change. Do not act like a spoiled little brat.

The protesting in Portland got out of control the last few days. Vandalism, assault, etc. People were being pulled from their cards and beaten.

I live in Hillsboro which is about 15 minutes from downtown Portland. Hillsboro is a very diverse and liberal community. We're also home to Intel, nVidia, Nike, and a ton of smaller high-tech companies. The majority of people here aren't happy Trump won, but there isn't any protesting. Why is that?

Liberals are showing their true colors now. Assaulting Trump voters, damaging property, blocking roads, yelling obscenities, making very vulgar and disgusting signs for everyone to see all because their choice for president didn't win. I hope these assholes keep their promise and move to another country. Preferably one of those countries like Saudi Arabia that their "queen" Hillary takes money from and then they'll be begging to come back to America.

That's still lower than I'd like it to be, but at least it shows these people are in a firm minority.

Thank goodness. We need to keep this illegitimate-president/birther-type nonsense to a minimum.

I'm not singling everyone out. Just the ones rioting or throwing a fit because their candidate lost. I have no problem with people having liberal views. What I hate are the ones that are unwilling to accept differing views. I hate bible thumpers like Cruz on the right too.

Now? The nail in the coffin for my vote was watching the people on my side of the political fence going to opposition political rally's and setting fires, spitting upon people, destroying property and chasing and beating opposition members while they screamed at the bloodied and beaten that they are nazi fascists.

And what was the response after losing?

The irony of the whole situation is before the election the left was outraged over the possibility that Trump wouldn't accept the results. Even Hillary accepted defeat. Obama shook hands with Trump. Their supporters act like spoiled brats throwing a fit because their mom won't buy them a new toy.

I was just looking at CNN and came across this article: http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/12/politics/donald-trump-campaign-promises/index.html

It seems Trump is re-thinking some of his strongest campaign rhetoric.

Obamacare? He wants to keep some of it.

Prosecuting Hillary? More important things to do.

Muslim ban? *no comment*

To be fair, a small minority of their supporters act like that and the other side has a small minority of religious social conservative prepers who would also be out there doing something similar. They sure made a fuss when the first black man was elected.

Bullshit. Time to stop lying through your teeth about every single issue. That is why Trump is where he is.

It happened at every Trump event and the media made a concentrated effort to cover up, condone it or excuse it and you all just went right along.

We only saw 95% of what was happening because of you tube videos. Had that not existed it's would have been completely hidden.

You have a choice here to learn a lesson or continue the narrative. I can tell you right now doubling down on the narrative will lead to more populist gains worldwide.

Can you take advice this time or will you ignore it?

Liberals are showing their true colors now. Assaulting Trump voters, damaging property, blocking roads, yelling obscenities, making very vulgar and disgusting signs for everyone to see all because their choice for president didn't win. I hope these assholes keep their promise and move to another country. Preferably one of those countries like Saudi Arabia that their "queen" Hillary takes money from and then they'll be begging to come back to America.

Now? The nail in the coffin for my vote was watching the people on my side of the political fence going to opposition political rally's and setting fires, spitting upon people, destroying property and chasing and beating opposition members while they screamed at the bloodied and beaten that they are nazi fascists.

And what was the response after losing?

@riotsofpeace and #lovetrumpshatefiresworkbetter.

The left was dead to me the moment they pissed on classical liberalism.

The irony of the whole situation is before the election the left was outraged over the possibility that Trump wouldn't accept the results. Even Hillary accepted defeat. Obama shook hands with Trump. Their supporters act like spoiled brats throwing a fit because their mom won't buy them a new toy.

What part is BS. That it's a small minority? Is it actually a majority? Maybe a big minority? Is the part about the right acting crazy about Obama the bullshit? I need clarification.

When it happens and it is not denounced it is a majority. They did things that were approved by the base. That's why nobody said very much about it.

@Riverwolf007: I feel like Obama and Hillary have said we need to come together and give Trump a chance but yes, they have not come out and condemned the protesters. It's hard to condemn the peaceful ones but I think they should condemn the violence and destruction.

I don't care what anyone does at this point. They should have said something about this entire year of political violence practiced upon a bunch of old people that wanted to go to some rallys.

Nothing was said because at the time it looked like it was working great.

They took polls and people flinched and said "no god no! i'm not voting for him!!! please don't hurt me oh god oh god!"

Ok, well, they were not that obvious but that is what they were thinking.

Acting like spoiled children throwing a fit when they didn't get what they wanted.

Is that what you would say about the signers of the Declaration?

Hopefully you are not trying to compared this to the spoiled kids who are sad because their parents lied and they are not the most important thing in the world.

Such a sad commentary...

Im a liberal, I supported Hilary Clinton even though she was a corrupt old witch. I would still do it again if I had the chance mainly because of my own belief that a Trump win is complete disaster for global warming initiatives and the environment we live in as a whole. Not to mention, im not a fan of the pushing of the christian agenda down everyones throat like Trumps VP obviously wants to do.

Regardless of all this, I find it funny that the liberals and especially Obama hasn't come out and condemned these protests, and to ask for calm. The fact is, Obama is serving the corporations first, and they want to incite disorder among the democrats, to wreak havoc. I would prefer that my fellow liberal friends stop protesting Trump for now. If Trump starts pushing a racist/sexist/homophobic/xenophobic agenda as the PRESIDENT, thats when we should start protesting. However before that, I want Trump to stand up and denounce all his bigotted talk that he used in his campaign. He effectively took the anger people were feeling against being destitute and funneled it towards minorities instead of the REAL culpurate--the corporate bastards that have our nuts in a vice.

Like the Tea Party protests, you have some violence and vitriol rhetoric. But, at the same time, peaceful protesting against a president and his policies.

People are upset. I sympathize with the non-violent protesters. It's in our given right to protest because we live in a free country with freedom of expression and speech.

How many protests covered were ones where the people congregated in a proper and just manner rather than shutting down streets and highways? Surely these clowns thing they have a solid approach when in fact they are just reinforcing why people said no to ole Hildog. People are sick and tired to the left acting like children when things do not go their way. IMO, we won't see such a hands off approach by the police come Jan 20, 2017.

Seriously? Stop thinking that the left are the only ones acting like children. The republicans have stonewalled any attempt of compromise and neglected to care for the country. The Republicans complain about unfairness in elections yet rig the elections in their favor by gerrymandering and protecting the electoral college as if it is too divine to get rid of. The Republican politicians are the biggest crybabies and the biggest whiners. They refuse to believe in scientific progress or reasoning only to remain in their dogmatic beliefs whether it's creationism, anti-gay rights, being "pro-life," whatever.

Also, hands on approach from the police? That's been going on forever thanks to police powers becoming more powerful by the year. What gains were made? None. If you want a powerful state with ultimate authority, I suggest North Korea.

Explain to me which group is acting infantile after a fair and legal election. Such a response is expected because this group seems to think anything not going its way is justification for moronic activity and it thinks that way because it has been told so. This is the group taking over public parks and roads because they dislike wall street and big business. This is the group causing trouble when a court case goes against their wishes. This is the group acting like jackasses because a Democrat did not win the presidency. Tell me again which group tends to act with civil unrest.

What we have seen in the big cities is how the morons run the asylum because the elected government does nothing to stop the destruction and stupidity. The police have been very laid back and restrictive with these "protests" and many before.

They also should have spoke out against the racist violent hate group Black Lives Matter too instead of inviting them to the White House and going against our law enforcement.

Obama's legacy is about to be erased in a few months and its too late for him to change opinions of him now. We saw what his agenda was.

Jesus I'm slow to the punch. Anyone notice the mass amount of Craigslist ads going up in major cities offering to pay $35/hr to riot? These aren't even real protests/riots. This is a Soros-funded insurrection. A billionaire is literally using the easily-manipulated left as his puppets in an attempt to flip our democracy on its head.

Why won't this Soros bastard just give it a rest already? Apparently he's getting sued for it, but even a 550m suit probably won't hurt the guy too much.

You are slow, I heard that awhile ago but then again it's always the same conspiracy theory on the right and I guess Soros is behind every nefarious thing that ever happens. I honestly have no clue about that but I would go down there and peacefully protest and no one has offered me any money.

Should we go back to 2008? Take off the blinders. Also, the "fair and legal election" is irrelevant when you have people's rights on the line. If someone threatened you with violence, would you not fight back?

And if you seriously think that the police have been laid back and are letting these protests go on, again, take off the blinders. The police have been breaking up these protests, tear gas and all. You have police brutality and misconduct go unpunished.

I'll venture a guess

You're a community of law abiding people too busy earning a living to support yourself and your family to be horsing around late on a weeknight.

Hey everyone check it out. It's an abject lesson on why you should be careful of who you harass while you are protesting.
