Gotta love the way one of the conservatives here simply insulted the opposing party. Whereas the liberal mod provided arguments that were actually supported.

All the mods here are liberal. Don't worry, your party does it too, you are just allowed to enjoy it on national television.

Meh, politicians are just people. Democracy is the 'rule of the people, by the people and for the people' Thus the good and bad of humanity in general is inherent in democracy.

Yeah you are allowed to bash Conservatives on national television, but when a Conservative does it, its "immoral" and gets them ripped off the media.

Obama campaigned on a platform of phased pullout from Iraq over 16 months. The last money that Bush requested for combat operations ran out. Why is it a surprise that he is asking for more money for these wars to support the troops during the time between point A (today) and point B (his proposed date of full withdrawl)?nocoolnamejim

^^^ this
by the way have you ever seen a speech of Obama's and compared it to a speech of Bush's? It's like he thought about what he was going to say before he took the podium

Hmm. Well, it wouldn't be the first time someone quoted themselves I guess. Although bringing in two different accounts that both belong to you and having a conversation with yourself is a bit of a cheap way to try and imply that there are more people in agreement with you than actually are.

[QUOTE="Pirate700"]Obama is pretty damn close to one but that's not what I was getting at. McCain offered change through a lot of hard work. Obama offered change by the government giving handouts and throwing money around. The latter sounds a lot better to lazy people during tough times.

Oh, you mean he decided to employ Keynesian style economic policies? Good for him. That's part of why I voted for him ;).

Throwing money around that isn't there leads to bigger problems....

America has been doing that a lot longer than Obama. In fact we have beendoing that a lot longer than Bush too.

People's expectations were what Obama set them at. The sad thing is people actually believed he as going to follow through. Obama was like the kid running for class president promising no more homework and ice-cream sandwiches for lunch and when he get's elected he doesn't do anything of the sort.

That's perfect. If you don't mind, I would like to use that analogy in my next lecture to my students.

I do understand that. And that's not what's bothering me right now, though the "monkey" comment was over the top IMO. Please be polite and respectful to your fellow posters. Don't be calling them names like "troll" or throwing aggression their way that will incite them to respond back in kind. All that will lead to is a locked thread. Thanks in advance for your understanding.

So basically, you are mad at Obama for being pragmatic? Obama isn't a big fan of the Iraq war by any stretch, but you can't just leave the country all of a sudden because of (irresponsible) idealism. And he ran on focusing more on Afghanistan, so I don't really see what's the big deal with regard to that.

Let's see. For starters, he said he was going to put every bill on whitehouse.gov for a few days, with a comment section for the public to comment, BEFORE he signed it. That didn't happen. How about his promise about "revolving-door" lobbyists? Yeah, that didn't happen either. I also think those companies that were promised a tax credit for hiring people as part of the stimulus bill, will be waiting forever since it wasn't included. Those are just off the top of my head.

Yeah, it takes years and years to figure out if a president was really good. I don't even think we have had enough time to really judge Regan and Clinton.

No politicians write their own speeches. Many of them do whatever they can to pander to their base. This is politics, don't be naive. As a politician, Obama is certainly one of the best in history. President? Time will tell.

So atleast obama and all of his avid supporters see that running a country isn't as easy as it looks. Its hard running a country when you don't even know how many states are in the country that your ruling. Or that before you would not pay the proper respect to this country you want to run by putting your hand over your heart. Well I think that is the least of his problems. He sure does have alot of time to do all of this celeb stuff like honor the nfl superbowl champs and all this other stuff he has done. Wait that is still the least of his problems, he needs to focus on running the country properly and all of this stuff is insulting. I dont mind if he is conservative, liberal, black, white, pink, whatever, all i ask is that he run this country like he said he would. Change...i have seen none of it.

Obama seeks $83 billion for Iraq and Afghan War

Wasnt he against the war not too long ago when he was senator running for president? What a fake...

Obama is no differnet than any other politician...only Obama seems like hes more fake than any other president we've had. More interested in being a celebrity than being president.

I just dont get how people let this slide like its no big deal...if it was Bush people would be all over him...no matter what he did hed get bashed, and no matter what Obama does hes praised. People are such hypocrites.

Obama wont change anything...politics are politics...they are all out for the same thing. The world is just a ****ed up place...one person cant change that,,,

Idk why people believe this guy...

MURS-
First of all, he needs money to fund the troops while they are still there, they don't pay for their own food from the local McDonalds. And secondly, I've seen nothing the same amount of negative press as I did for Bush but this time it's from the conservative media...

It was cute but hardly accurate. The media hyped Obama baecause of his charisma and the blind passion of some of his followers. If you actually listened to Obama's promises, they didn't seem so far-fetched.

Yep. All I see is sour grapes. Really, it just seems like some are only concerned with having power (regardless if they are using it properly or not), instead of being concerned with the well being of the country.

i don't know many ppl that thinks he is the messiah but i know many are hoping for change and a new look in the white house. Obama is smart, displays class and seems to know what to say when to say it. giving the short amount of time he has been in office, he has gain much respect around the world...can't say the same for every prez America had. but, it never fails. every time i come to this board there's a thread about Obama doing something that they dont see fit. i cant even remember seeing a topic giving him credit..... even thou he is well liked by many all around the world. plus, he haves many difficult tasks to deal with ( which the previous presidents left behind ) and all ppl here can do is bash the very person trying to fix the things they probably had a helping hand in braking, he is the only person who stepped to the plate with the right credentials, the only person brave enough to take on the presidency in these bad times....and what do ppl here do? wish failure on him when he is still brand new in office. i thought ppl were suppose to support their leaders... in fact, these same ppl thats whining dont even have a better plan of their own or offer any good suggestions to help out their own prez. but as soon as Obama slips on one word, or trips over a crack in the side walk....they come running to this board like itz the world summit....pathetic. and i'm almost positive these very same crying ppl never typed a letter to their congressman but will sit here throwing sissy fits on a gaming board. haha, i'm beside my self...... laughing with myself at the envious ppl making fools of themselves.

[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]As stated I wasn't referring to any specific individual. Just struck me how different the spin is when one is behind the politician....and not.:P

I really couldn't understand why the liberals went after Bush so much when infact his policies were so...liberal. I guess they just like to cheer for their side no matter what the issues are.

You expect the party of complaining to not complain? They are even starting call out their lord and master.

Stop with the Limbaugh talking points. No Dem considers Obama to be their Lord & Master.

And the Repubs sure seem to be the "party of complaining" these days. I wonder why :)

[QUOTE="MetalGear_Ninty"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]Rather a premature assessment. He hasn't done anything....:|

You can't say he hasn't done anything. He has been assertive in terms of dealing with the current economic situation.

Specifics would be nice and I hope you don't mean the so called stimulus package which is more spending than stimulating.

Yeah, I'll go with the stimulus package, you may not think it is a good tactic, but it's still something.

If you are remotely openminded, watch "The Obama Deception"on youtube. A good documentary about Obama and his lies.
