[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]Hypothetical question: If something happens to Obama within the next few weeks, who would the electoral college vote for?Joker_268why even say such hypothetical question. "god give me strength"Possibly because in this day in age -- there's still a lot of hate, so if something happens -- what would be the outcome? Obama is NOT the President yet, even though most media corporations claim he is -- he's not.

Most likely Biden would be sworn in. But doubt that will happen.
But he hasn't been chosen as President yet. :|Hypothetical question: If something happens to Obama within the next few weeks, who would the electoral college vote for?Stevo_the_gamer
Joe Biden. It really doesn't matter though b/c he already chiseled his name in the history books and no one will ever forget this moment in time. To all the negative people on this forum, 30 yrs from now when you look back at this historic moment, do you really want to remember the hatred that you had or a sense of being a proud american regardless of who won? We should just be thank full to be a part of something so huge. This thing is bigger then me and you and future people will talk about how lucky we were to be alive and a part of this.

Just relax and take a deep breathe b/c I know there might be some hard feelings still. Were American, we should be proud already, not b/c your new president isn't the one you liked. Just accept it and celebrate with the rest of us.

Woah, what makes you think I'm being defensive or something? You made it sound as through Biden was the VP now, and that if something ever happened to Obama (God forbid), that Biden would be sworn in as President. That's not the case. I'm asking a hypothetical question, and as I can see -- most of you believe that popular vote determines the Presidency.[QUOTE="mvphalo8"][QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]Hypothetical question: If something happens to Obama within the next few weeks, who would the electoral college vote for?Stevo_the_gamer

Just like the previous user said just enjoy the moment.
However, this country was founded on Christianity. JediRiffHmm...
"The Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion" -Treaty of Tripoli signed by John Adams, Second President of the United States
"...Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law" - Thomas Jefferson, Third President of the United States and author of the Declaration of Independence
"During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What has been its fruits? More or less, in all places, pride and indolence in the clergy; ignorance and servility in the laity; in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution." -James Madison, Fourth President of the United States\
". . . Some books against Deism fell into my hands. . . It happened that they wrought an effect on my quite contrary to what was intended by them; for the arguments of the Deists, which were quoted to be refuted, appeared to me much stronger than the refutations; in short, I soon became a thorough Deist." -Benjamin Franklin
"I looked around for God's judgments, but saw no signs of them." -Benjamin Franklin
"Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, imprisoned; yet we have not advanced an inch towards uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half the world fools, and the other half hypocrites. To support roguery and error all over the earth." -Thomas Jefferson
"As I understand the Christian religion, it was, and is, a revelation. But how has it happened that millions of fables, tales, legends, have been blended with both Jewish and Christian revelation that have made them the most bloody religion that ever existed?"-John Adams
"Gouverneur Morris had often told me that General Washington believed no more of that system (Christianity) than did he himself." -Thomas Jefferson's private journal, about George Washington
The Founding Fathers definitely sound like Christian men.

Don't think I'm attacking you or anything, I just think we should embrace this moment, b/c who knows when we'll see something of this magnitude again. Also, people were saying the same thing when Obama beat Hilary, that it wasn't over when in reality they new the true answer to what they were saying. You gotta admit, it does feel different already.:)

Ah, I think it's wonderful to have an Black individual finally have the privilege to lead such an amazing state -- and I certainly respect him and hope for the best for our great state. But I worry over what if the first black President ends up being a bad President? Of course, that's a big "what-if" question and certianly shouldn't hold much weight -- and frankly, I'm off base here considering my main point is how so many people have touted Obama as being President, when in reality -- he's not President until the electoral college gives him the such honor. Wii they? It's extremely likely, but could those "pledged" electors vote for somone else? You bet'cha.Yes. It does feel different -- but different in a "good" way? That's entirely debatable.
Just remember this day 04/11/08. America's first black president and he WILL bring about change. Lets see a glimpse of what he will do.
EDUCATION
Barack Obama puts children first by investing in early childhood education, making sure our schools are adequately funded and led by high-quality teachers, and reforming No Child Left Behind.
ECONOMY
Barack Obama has offered a detailed plan to get America's economy back on track, by creating new jobs and easing the burden on hardworking Americans by offering middle-class tax cuts three times the size of McCain's.
FOREIGN POILCY
Barack Obama will continue the long American tradition of smart diplomacy to keep the country safe while improving America's standing in the world. not like McCain who would have continued to put our troops in harms way. What have we gained from invading Iraq. Other than lose our troops who are fighting for no reason.
And i can go on, just give the man a chance and just calm down ppl.
well, i'm from Belgium but i am soo glad obama won the election :)
Obama is a very inteligent person and has alot of charisme! i don't see him being a bad president....
o, and for some of the haters! Obama will work together with republicans and with Mccain, so don't overreact! Just hope that together, not just obama or the democrats, but whole the nation comes together and bring change! That's obama's message if you've heard his speech! ' together ' now all at once T-O-G-E-T-H-E-R!
That's important!
Anyone here in California voted No on Prop 8? Just wonderin how many people here were against it. I voted No so it sucks that it passedbarcx17I've seen a lot of OTs appose it, I actually rarely saw Pro-Prop 8 people here in OT.
I did as well.[QUOTE="barcx17"]Anyone here in California voted No on Prop 8? Just wonderin how many people here were against it. I voted No so it sucks that it passedLink256
And yes, it is bull**** that it passed.
Government for the people, by the people. People voted yes. Deal with it. :PAnyone here in California voted No on Prop 8? Just wonderin how many people here were against it. I voted No so it sucks that it passedbarcx17

Is that the one that eliminates same sex marriages?! If so, that's sad it passed. :(
And because of it passing -- prepare for Connecticut and Massachusetts to follow suit.Anyone here in California voted No on Prop 8? Just wonderin how many people here were against it. I voted No so it sucks that it passedbarcx17
I'm not for gay marriage, but I don't see how Californians would want a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage. That's just unnecessary.

Ironically, increased black turnout looks to be precisely the reason why it passed.

They did so to prevent a proposition being wrongfully overturned again.I'm not for gay marriage, but I don't see how Californians would want a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage. That's just unnecessary.

The courts ruled that not recognizing same-sex marriages was unconstitutional. At that point, the only real recourse is to amend the constitution.
They did so to prevent a proposition being wrongfully overturned again.Stevo_the_gamer
Like Proposition 22? That wasn't an amendment though. There couldn't have been another way to validate Proposition 22?
EDIT: Well, I would've voted against it, because I don't think that there should be a constitutional amendment against same-sex marriage. If marriage is so sacred, it shouldn't be defined by the government.
Better question to be asking why is it taking so damn long?[QUOTE="THE_DRUGGIE"]When's North Carloina going to get off the fence and pick someone!? :evil:Link256

Probably biden
people voted for the Obama/Biden ticket so technically he's second in line for the presidency if someting should happen to Obama, and i'd be happy for him to be running for the country
he was a very sensible choice for a running mate and I'm sure obaama will benefit from having him as his VP.
This man may possibly be the best thing to ever happen to our country. jd7-03The President doesn't even hold much power ... He can't do any good without a decent Congress. :?

Look what Bush did in eight years by himself (and his admin), he pretty much destroyed the country.
