Official 300 Discussion Thread....All others will be locked....

What's so special about this movie? Why all the fuss? I don't even know what is't about. Please enlighten me. On a side note, has anyone seen the movie, Number 23? if so, was it good?Matthew_Kaeser

I didnt like the second one because it seemed as if they were trying to make more of a comdey than action movie, i want the third to be darker, more action. Thats one thing that made batman begins better than all the other batman combinded, it was darker. The other had goofy villians and henchmen, Batman Begins was more serious.

 i would say yes.  I would like to see any deleted scences, and an unrated version.

The people who complain about 300 not being historically accurate are really starting to piss me off. Every review that I've read so far has complained about this.

yea i understand what your saying, i also enjoyed the movie for its thrills ;), but just a few things as a classics major, taking a Spartan seminar course this term which are out there;). 

A) Spartans didnt fight alone, there was another group of Greeks, about 700 (1000 greeks then) who fought, how do you think 300 men could form and hold a proper phalanx formation fighting that duration of time , the Spartans did not fight alone and without the help of the others, it would have been a much shorter confontration.

B)there were not a million Persians fighting at the battle, probably around 150,000 200,000 tops, how do you think Xerxes could have a million soldiers fed and the logistics would have been a total nightmare, its not like 150,000 troops is something to scoff at anyways, that was just Herodotus exagerating things :)

C) Spartans would never enter into battle without wearing a breastplate, it was part of the hoplite armour and we know of a Spartan warrior who fought invading thebans in the 4th century who went into battle without his breastplate naked, and he was fined by the ephors for not wearing his armour, while also being given the Spartan equivalent of the victoria Cross for bravery, lol.

I realize its just a stylized movie, loosely based on events, and i enjoyed  it very much and i agree critics are over the top in their critcism, but i think A is quite important and so is B.  And C bugged me becuase they would have looked better in breastplates anyways lol...

si, just some people thought the men in 300 were the thespians.

my personal favorite parts where
1. the slow-mo parts
2. When the guys son died and he went on a homocidal rampage.
3. When the wife disses the persian messanger
4. Leonidas and all his witty comments
5. When she stabs that annoying guy
