I don't get why it's so horrible. It's supposed to signify all the different kinds of people in the United States coming together under God.
SgtKevali
No. it's not. The people in the lower right are supposed to be the "bad guys".
Yeah and apparently the Origin of Species (the book one of the people on the lower right is holding) is some source of evil.....SourceIt explains why the artist used Thomas Jefferson and Thomas Paine in his paintings as well as the group of people on the right of the picture.
Also, I don't see what's so horrific about the painting. Granted, the artist is a hardcore Christian and overexaggerating Christianity's influence in the United States but the painting isn't horrifying or "right wing Christian propaganda."

wow. you didnt look at it hard enough.
the bottom right are all liberals, and they fear jesus.
[QUOTE="ghoklebutter"]Biased much?Xx_Hopeless_xXHow?...something like 80% of Americans or more believe in God..
i will humor your logic: if what you say is true, then all of the liberals (the bottom right of the painting) make up the 20%.
Srsly what is that?i-like-pie
satan. someone pasted a guide to the painting by the artist himself earlier in the thread. its worth checking out (and laughing at).

You can't possibly see the giant bias here? The fact it shows the judge, lawyer, and media as going to hell? I feel compelled to make the original my monitor to the right, and the cthulu one to my left.
Also, if the Emperor get's to be on the right side of the painting, why isn't Obi-wan on the left?

No, That's not how I interpret it. People circle around behind him too, there is no left and right side. That's how it was meant to be. I think the artist released some sort of guide to the painting. Plus, you have all the "bad" stereotypes on the right: Judge with papers strewn about, greedy businessmen, guy with the origin of species book, unmarried pregnant woman, the liberal media journalist, what appears to be an actor, plus, to top it all off, Satan in the corner with them.

There's no need to try to interpret it. The artist has done that for us.
He labeled pretty much everything in his drawing with a description, and put notes at the bottom. You can check out what he has to say on the people in the bottom right.

Yes, but the woman on the left isn't shown with a husband either, and why would John F Kennedy be on the "Evil" side. He was a Catholic :?Ah, Alright, I'm reading through the guide right now. And from what I gather, I still am not seeing the "Horrible" painting. It's about the people that criticized the "One Nation Under God". The Liberals sepcifically targeted it.

The woman on the left had a ring, if you look real closely. The artist has good attention to detail.

Where does it show them going to hell?I'm pretty sure having satan being BFF's with some of the 6 deadly sins standing right next to them indicates they are not in good standing to be sent to heaven. The fact the painter himself, explains how each has sinned and will probably go to hell.

Yes, HE explained they have sinned because they are trying to take God out of the "One Nation under God" out of the Pledge of Allegiance. So what am I missing here? I can't really seem to get the "one side represents bad, and the other good (upper right has numerous famous presidents, both liberal and conservatives, a solider, etc. Upper left has other historical figures, most of whom are seen as good. and the bottom left has a solider, a doctor, a man with a bible, etc. and the bottom right has a judge, it looks like. a business man, a journailist, and a prego woman. I don't see one side or quarter as people who are considered evil, or one side being conservative and the other liberal). I fail to see the subcontext here.
I kinda like it actuallyboth the left and right should get a kick out of this.

notice the kind of people on the bottom right, and compare them to those on the bottom left. zoom in for minor details.

I lol'd, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to hell for this

Upper area I think is people who have passed on isn't it? They're standing with Jesus. The people on the lower left side are all "good" while the people on the right are "bad". The fact Satan is standing behind them and they're all turning away from Jesus make that pretty clear. So what am I missing here? I don't see it as horrible either, but it's clearly a very right wing painting. I was simply pointing out that the guys on the lower right are supposed to be the bad guys.
