The lack of buildup was probably because throughout the ceremony they were announcing the nominees with clips. Though it still felt rushed lol. I haven't seen several of the nominees this year, but I will eventually.

Well that it. I am very glad that The Hurt Locker won best picture and a few other awards.:) Kinda sad through that Inglorious Bastards didn't get that many awards.

[QUOTE="t3hrubikscube"]Jeez, there was absolutely no build-up for Best Picture!akbar13
It ends a 12 and they had to get going. There was no advertisements for like 20 minutes.

Yes, I realize this... It was just very quick.

They already presented the nominees throughout the show, there was no need to go on some big thing again.

But think of how much he got trolled because his ex-wife won both best film and best director. I think that was worth not seeing his speech.

First of all, at the people that thought Avatar was a "lock."

I thought the show was pretty damn boring. A few jokes here and there. I can't believe they actually went through with Sandra Bullock. Carey Mulligan deserved that one. Of course, the foreign film category was a surprise, like always. It was worth watching for Kathryn Bigelow's win. She totally deserved that award.

Ewww Hurt Locker won too many. That movie wasn't that good, everybody just loves an underdog. It didn't really surprise me though.

I think that Avatar was sort of undermined by its popularity. Critics don't want to praise a movie everybody already knows and has seen.

Did anybody else think that Bigelow looked like a smug ***** up there?

I was sure that Best Picture and Best Director were going to either Avatar or The Hurt Locker, but I was sort of surprised. I sort of expected one of those awards to go to Cameron/Avatar.

Don't bother. You won't enjoy it now that you expect it to be really good.

It is mediocre at best. I watched it with high expectations and was not pleased.

The only award I was sure they'd get was Best Supporting Actor, and they did get that. Great role in that movie.

Ridicolous.. Hurt Locker wasnt even top 5 movies of 2009 imo.

Good movie, but overrated.

Inglorius Basterds should have won best film and UNE PROPHETE should have won best Foreign film.

I agree with the best supporitn actor and best supportin actress awards... same with Best actor award.

If it had anything to do with "politics", then The Hurt Locker would have lost. Considering the fact that it's the lowest grossing film to ever win and the producer actually broke the rules, telling them to vote for the right film.

I'm disappointed that District 9 didn't get anything. I don't have much to say about The Hurt Locker since I haven't seen it, but I moved it up in my Queue on Netflix to see what the fuss is about.

If betted money on the winners, I would be rich right now. All the high profile nominees that won were expected, for me. There were so many tv shows that I watched that gave predictions, that it became obvious who were going to win. I need to check out those short flims though, they look very interesting.

District 9 didn't get any recognition... In the beginning Steve Martin and him were going over most of the movie that were nominated for best picture and skipped district 9.

ThatGuyFromB4

Since popular things are often the most criticised, expect "insult to injury" to Avatar from critics.
