The lack of buildup was probably because throughout the ceremony they were announcing the nominees with clips. Though it still felt rushed lol. I haven't seen several of the nominees this year, but I will eventually.
I know! What the hell? He just said it in less than 30 seconds...dreDREb13Either they were trying to rush or Tom Hanks was doing it wrong :P
[QUOTE="t3hrubikscube"]Jeez, there was absolutely no build-up for Best Picture!akbar13It ends a 12 and they had to get going. There was no advertisements for like 20 minutes.Yes, I realize this... It was just very quick.

As much as I am glad James didn't win, I actually really wanted to see what kind of Ego-filled speech he would give. :PJazz_FanBut think of how much he got trolled because his ex-wife won both best film and best director. I think that was worth not seeing his speech.
Hurt Locker didn't deserve Best Picture, just my opinion.

I agree. Good. Not that good. I only agree with 3/6 awards it recieved.
First of all, at the people that thought Avatar was a "lock."
I thought the show was pretty damn boring. A few jokes here and there. I can't believe they actually went through with Sandra Bullock. Carey Mulligan deserved that one. Of course, the foreign film category was a surprise, like always. It was worth watching for Kathryn Bigelow's win. She totally deserved that award.

It was you! I totally told you "El Secreto de Sus Ojos" would win! 8) (as long as Oscar voters saw the movie, which I'm glad they did)
a lock?! The only lock I'd say for Avatar was visual effects and cinematography. I was expecting Sandra to win, but I can't really say anything about it... :/First of all, at the people that thought Avatar was a "lock."

Ewww Hurt Locker won too many. That movie wasn't that good, everybody just loves an underdog. It didn't really surprise me though.
I think that Avatar was sort of undermined by its popularity. Critics don't want to praise a movie everybody already knows and has seen.
Did anybody else think that Bigelow looked like a smug ***** up there?

I also noticed it was rushed at the end but looks like I gotta watch a lot of movies including the Hurt Locker.

Don't bother. You won't enjoy it now that you expect it to be really good.
It is mediocre at best. I watched it with high expectations and was not pleased.

Exhibit A: Titanic.
Exhibit B: Return of the King.
The only award I was sure they'd get was Best Supporting Actor, and they did get that. Great role in that movie.Well that it. I am very glad that The Hurt Locker won best picture and a few other awards.:) Kinda sad through that Inglorious Bastards didn't get that many awards.

Ridicolous.. Hurt Locker wasnt even top 5 movies of 2009 imo.
Good movie, but overrated.
Inglorius Basterds should have won best film and UNE PROPHETE should have won best Foreign film.
I agree with the best supporitn actor and best supportin actress awards... same with Best actor award.

Hurt Locker beat Avatar? Whoa what an upset. Not surprised though. I though it was going to be a showdown between those two movies.

As soon as it won, I was like, "Samurai will be happy!"
:P
Still waiting on a DVD release..
If it had anything to do with "politics", then The Hurt Locker would have lost. Considering the fact that it's the lowest grossing film to ever win and the producer actually broke the rules, telling them to vote for the right film.Once again the academy and there politics for best picture and best director

If betted money on the winners, I would be rich right now. All the high profile nominees that won were expected, for me. There were so many tv shows that I watched that gave predictions, that it became obvious who were going to win. I need to check out those short flims though, they look very interesting.
District 9 didn't get any recognition... In the beginning Steve Martin and him were going over most of the movie that were nominated for best picture and skipped district 9.I'm disappointed that District 9 didn't get anything. I don't have much to say about The Hurt Locker since I haven't seen it, but I moved it up in my Queue on Netflix to see what the fuss is about.
