I would set my profile to private if I was a female user. Personally, I wouldn't even tell anyone that I was a girl in the first place on this site, or at least not publicly in the forums. It would annoy the **** out of me if I had to deal with some of the stupid crap that they put up with.

I've always agreed with that. I've never seen the point of making yourself private. On sites like Myspace and Facebook too where you would essentially just be creating something for people to see that you could have IMed or called anyway.
Some people close their profiles because of the comment ratings abuse.
That needs to go too, as does the staff member that added it.

You've started a blog, which is a good first step. Make good posts, add more to your profile (game collection, game reviews, upload some game videos), join some unions, and things will start to move.:)
I see no problem with private profiles. infact. I have the option turned on which means I don't see anyone else's posts. so I can't be offended. its great :roll:

I don't understand why people have their entire pages private, but continue to write blogs. You can see the title, but it's impossible to actually look at it.

Well, you can easily make enemies online, and if you don't want people you don't like reading what you write, or thumbing down your blog comments, you go private to lock them out. I think it's pretty easy to understand, but that's just me.
