First of all, I most certainly dont talk for every Athiest in the world i'm but one man in this universe with a sense of belief or better put would be a sense of disbelief, disbelief of god that is, well the christian god that i would have to say is the most common in god to be worshipped in the Western World.

If god is this all powerful being that created the universe and answers the prayers of the rightious and just and will save you aslong as you are faithful to him, then why does he allow so many innocent people to die?

Surely the bible preachers peace and fellowship amongst all men and women across the planet and it lays down a set of laws that humans must follow to stay rightious during their time on this world otherwise he will vanquish them, which he surely will do, i mean it says so in the bible there is storys of him punishing people and sending entire apocalypses to wipe them out.

And yet....

He let that happen, i mean the common consensus amongst alot of christians that i have come across and seen in american media is that he does everything, if he can give a baby of completely innocent and god-fearing parents a life threatening condition that makes it die before its a teenager couldnt he have done the same for good ole Adolf,

Or Stalin

Or Pol Pot

or even the hoff

or stopped this from happening, i mean surely he could have pulled a gust of wind out of bum that made the plane have to immediately land or even created a storm to dangerous to fly in,

Okay okay sure they are all man made disasters i mean americans dropped the bomb, germans spawned hitler that was corrupted by a school knocking him back in vienna and fueld by his hatred of what the allies did to his country while stalin was probabaly touched as a child by nothing other than a man.

but then what about his....

The 2004 tsunami i'm sure you all remember this doozy of nature that was responsible for hundreds of thosuands of deaths,

Or haiti, what you still dont remember this other act of nature that killed hundreds of thousands?

ok what about this,

You have to remember this, it was in Japan not too long ago it was all across the news,

If god is supposed to protect the innocent and not punish them, then why did all this happen, i mean surely man couldnt have caused all those earthquakes, surely not all of those killed were terrible people there had to be a few innocent ones in there that didnt deserve to die.

Why does he let this happen if there truely is an all powerful god?

My answer is simple, there is no god or if there is he is nothing like we think he is, he may aswell be Cthulu.

Or maybe he wasnt responsible for those earhtquakes and such maybe he just didnt notice the tremors and couldnt stop them because he was too busy giving Aids to babys in africa and causing drought?

That's your reasoning huh? He should stop the world from working? Stop tectonic plate shifts, affect human's free will, smite people down at will.

There are so many better reasons, and you choose the one that primary school children query? *shakes head*

The only thing you proved is that God might be a dick. Just someone who instead of killing the predator from killing the bunny, he watches. Maybe even films it for later. Even gets a thrill from it. But nothing else.

The short answer is we don't know.

"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are [His] ways higher than [my] ways, and [His] thoughts than [my] thoughts." (Isaiah 55:9, NKJV)

There are longer responses on the internet if you really want to know why.

There's only one reason needed... All religion points to books written by men. Religion is man made and if you look back far enough to the very beginning of each of the main religions you will find that what got them to spread was not "faith" it was brute force by armies controlled by monarchs and warlords. When democracy kicked in religion stopped spreading and now its used to separate people and fuel wars. Religion has always been a tool and its origins point to a man. Religion is a weapon of war and has caused more deaths than all diseases combined.Religion is the worst thing to happen to humanity.

It's simple, really. The untouchable "get out of jail free" card, all in two little words: free will. The ultimate explaination; the ultimate cop-out. And if that doesn't work, Satan fits the bill nicely.

Satan doesn't exist. Its a very modern concept. The origins point to the book of Job when a angel tested Job's faith... That's it. tested and was given permission by God to do so.

You don't need to prove that God doesn't exist to claim that he doesn't, just like you don't need proof that my 15-inch invisible golden penis doesn't exist to claim that I don't have one.

I think the point, more over, is that the natural forces of the universe shouldn't even exist if there is a divine being behind the universe.

Because nature is a) like an autopilot for life, and b) complex and has evolved in a certain way on its own. If god existed why would there be a need for tectonic plates? why would water precipitate when clouds could just form when crops needed water? Why would crops need water at all? Why would people need food and water? Why didn't god just make us all as monks and talk to us himself, why weren't we all created perfectly with absolute knowledge and able to make our own chocies like the angels were? It makes no sense, it all just points to a pathetic attempt to explain humanity's existance on earth.

Why can't God just come down to Earth and say "Hey guys, I'm God. I've come down to get rid of all evil in the world so we can all live beautifully. I don't care if you follow me or not, but this is what I'm going to do". Now that's a God I'd devote myself to, no questions. I'd convert to his system in a second. Instead, we have, apparently, a God who plays this childish game of "I wrote a book, but I'm not going to prove to you that I did. I'm also not going to prove to you that I exist. Instead, you just have to take me on faith. If you do, you'll come to Heaven. If not, straight to Hell. However, I'm all-powerful and all-loving. In fact, I'm so loving that I allowed my son to bleed on a cross because all you people, who I created, had some bad thoughts. That's right guys, I punished one person for the sins of another." What an insult to humanity that is...

God doesn't reveal himself as much to everyone. Some hearts are hardened and he lets them continue that way. Your probably one of those predestined for hell, he doesn't choose everyone. Enjoy the heat.

God does exist. Though beliefs slightly differ, Mulslims, Jews and Christians all believe in the same God of the old testament. They all stem from the same tree. Athiests choose to believe in no god and thats their choice. It is a cop out though. Most of the time I find they believe in nothing because they do not care or want to bother investing anytime. They think of themselves as intellectuals who know all but in reality they no very little. None of us know all too much but some of us are more willing to accept our ignorance than others. At the end of the day all knees will bow so its just a matter of whether people find god on their own or realize when its too late.

LOLOLOL WHAT.

Atheism is a cop out? Atheism is realising we don't have all the answers yet and exploring the possibilties through what has got us this far - science. Believing in God is pretty much "we don't know how this happened, so a wizard in the sky did it". Can you not grasp how primitive that is? I can imagine my grandkids asking me about religion in the future, asking if people really did believe in such ludicrious things and laughing along with them as I say "well not me, but yeah, a lot of them did".

They think of themselves as intellectuals who know all but in reality they no very little. None of us know all too much but some of us are more willing to accept our ignorance than others. At the end of the day all knees will bow so its just a matter of whether people find god on their own or realize when its too late. BossPerson

I can imagine my grandkids asking me about religion in the future, asking if people really did believe in such ludicrious things and laughing along with them as I say "well not me, but yeah, a lot of them did".

looooooooooooool i was gonna post exactly what u just posted, but i wasnt in the mood to open another can of worms :p.. glad to see someone else did

Leave him alone. He doesn't know what he's talking about.

Lol you guys are so easy to get going. All you need to do is post religion in OT and you can gauranttee a good response of posts. These are all troll threads. No one is going to ask someone, "hey when did you convert to christiantity"..."Well funny you asked, it was one day I was on gamespot and saw the light!!" Anyways I will use this post to promote my boy: Ron Paul 2012 - For Americans who want real change and want to differiantiate from the sheep herds of America

You don't need to prove that God doesn't exist to claim that he doesn't, just like you don't need proof that my 15-inch invisible golden penis doesn't exist to claim that I don't have one.

Barbariser
Of course you do, you made the claim thus you need to prove it. The burden of proof rest of the person making the claim not the person hearing the claim.
