Possibly the worst article I've read in months. Most likely the guy just can't play.

[QUOTE="Samurai_Xavier"]I tried to kill this thread like 6hrs ago but people just had to keep on pushing it. Why can't we just settle for all sports require different physical requirements for the players that are somewhat equal in energy exerted. Football and Soccer as as much a sport as ultimate frisbee and they all require a lot of practice to become good at. It's about time something intelligent came from your keyboard.Ive seen pretty much similar injuries in soccer. You can stop, we dont need to turn this into a "what sport is more violent thread".

Compared to soccer, seriously. Enlighten me if you think otherwise.

The linemen are the ones that need to be big, because they have to keep other big guys from getting past them. It's not easy. And the running backs and receivers are some of the most athletic people in the world.
Nice statistics. Though saying that, nice backing up of yours point with proof on the previous page, Samurai. What stats do you want me to give? :|Compared to nothing.[QUOTE="needled24-7"]

They still dont run anything compared to soccer players. They get to rest, walk, get back in line and formation, wait for the play to begin. Rest and walk again.
So? More running =/= better. Yeah they may be in better shape, but what are you getting at, exactly? This is a joke, right? >_>ElraptorThis entire thread is full of idiots, on both sides. You should lock it as I've seen several obvious trolls and derogatory comments made.
OMG this thread is still going on even after I won it too....
I'll summarize my stance:
Americans don't like soccer because of the low scoring since all of our sports (aside from basketball) have around 3-5 scores for each team per game. Soccer is popular because it's the cheapest sport to play, and by this point it has become ingrained in the rest of the world. Now off with you. /thread
That's a rather arrogant assertion on your part (that you "won" the thread), given that no one has really resolved anything.OMG this thread is still going on even after I won it too....

If we don't like "low-scoring" sports, then explain why hockey (which is a low-scoring sport by your standards) enjoys a following around the US.
I'll concede the "cheapest sport" part to you, though. Skates alone are pretty pricey.
I picture a 60 minutes report: The biggest problem facing america today, not it's not their corrupted government, failing economy, stupid presidents, obesity, pollution, terrorism. No the biggest problem america has is Soccer......*cricket shirps* ..................................................................................

Hockey scores are around 3 goals per game for each team, and I was being sarcastic. Also hockey isn't nearly as popular in comparison to football, baseball, and basketball. Hockey does make up for it with the hard hits though, and teams still do score more often than soccer teams.I don't want to mention the ignorance of americansof the truth of their "democracy"because then i remember theirgovernmentkeep tryin to drag the rest of western world down with em. I don't want the world to be a rabble of free-for-all by corporations.

Like I mentioned earlier, though, a 1-0 game in hockey can still be exciting, given the pace of the game and the number of shots taken on goal. :)Renegade_Fury
For the record: I can't stand NFL football, not because of the reasons mentioned in this thread, but because the whole system (from officiating down to player drafts and free agency) is too badly tilted in favor of teams in the biggest TV markets. The NFL is what drove me to the NHL in the first place. :o

Low scoring games are fun no doubt, especially in baseball too. It's just that they are balanced out with high scoring ones as well. ;)Well in the draft the college student usually has no choice which team he goes to unless, he **** like Elway or Manning, but that is extremely rare. In Free Agency I can see how you could think that, but typically players just go to the team that's willing to spend the most cap space. It's not like in the old days where my niners would buy everyone, though next year might go uncapped... Either way, it's up to the front office to make sure their team doesn't suck. As far as officiating goes, yeah it sucks and I do think the NHL refs are much better or at least more fair. I watch both sports pretty passionately though. :)
What stats do you want me to give? :|needled24-7None, because you can't, as you pulled that previous statement out of your ass. Saying "American football players are some of the most athletic people in the world' is pointless since your views are merely nationalistic and not factual.

Soccer is only boring to watch when the two teams you're watching both suck, and i don't think it's offensive or inaccurate to say that pretty much every American team is pretty terrible. Ninja-HippoAgreed. Watching the Eurocup final between Germany and Spain was like being on Cloud Nine.
Also creates the weakest people known to man.AirGuitarist87Nah that was actually a very controversial (and fairly obvious) fake injury because they'd just lost the game and the keeper knew if he pretended to be hurt by the supporter they'd forfit the points.

And I never said either sport was better than the other. That one guy Samuraisomething (I think that's who it was) basically said that all American football was was guys trying to get big, and that they are lazy, etc., and I was telling him he was wrong.

I prefer to think that it was one of those time-delay pressure point attacks, like on Kill Bill. Just makes it seem that bit more funny.[QUOTE="AirGuitarist87"]Also creates the weakest people known to man.Ninja-Hippo
I think one reason why it's not really popular in the US is because it isn't known to Americans as a homegrown, All-American sport. Same with hockey, which is known as a Canadian game. Baseball, basketball and gridiron football are "American" sports and are all popular there. Pretty xenophobic if you ask me.

lol. I guess in OT Opinions are Facts.Just a question as I'm not that familiar with the European leagues, is there a big difference between relegation and simply not making the playoffs?
I mean if a team isn't good enough, they don't even get to play in the post season. What's the difference?
DaBrainz
Don't think this ever got answered. In most countries there is a pyramid system, several divisions (in England, Premiership is top, Championship, League 1, League 2, Conference, Ryman's league, Ryman's North and it's southern division then several others.) so in theory, a team is a pub league could one day be champions of England. Those top of their division and sometimes second and third, go up to the next level but those bottom (and sometimes second and third bottom) of a division go down to a lower one. These means less money, less prestige, a smaller fanbase, the best players leave and it can be very difficult to get back to the previous division, in some cases relegation begins a spiral that only eventually stops so relegation can be a disaster for a club.
[QUOTE="KG86"]I totally agree with this... It is way more fun to watch it than American football or basedull (shrugs)If anything it is making the US better.

Lol, I totally agree. American football and baseball are snore-fests.
When the FIFA Soccer World Cup comes around, you'll see over a billion people watching. Yes... only ONE sport can do that :)
