I would say its great so far, better than 2008 already. I would give it a 9, I'm looking forward to porcupine tree's new album THE INCIDENT, and the Avett Brothers new album later this year.

for the most part its pretty meh.The only new album i bought this year was Green day's 21st century breakdown, but MCR's new album may be out late this year so that'll brighten up the year for me :)
Terrible, that's why I haven't heard any.CRS98
There are lots of fantastic albums from 2009, you just havent heard them yet;) Search around and you will find something.
Sorry, I just assume new music is terrible. your assumption is right for the most part[QUOTE="Film-Guy"][QUOTE="CRS98"]Terrible, that's why I haven't heard any.CRS98

I don't believe any of my favourite bands have made any music this year, though Incubus did release an album of awesome B-sides. Mind you, that doesn't really count, so I'll give this year 2/10 thusfar.
nothing has stood out for me. last year had cynic's newest album and the year before had the debut of blotted science. LoG-Sacrament
Here are some albums that stand out to me, you should check them out if you havent yet:)
Wild Light- Adult Nights
Dredg- The Pariah, the parrot, the delusion
Todd Snider- The Excitement Plan
Crystal Antlers- Tentacles
Tortoise- Beacons of Ancestorship
Grizzly Bear- Veckatimest
Dirty Projectors- Bitte Orca
Papercuts- You can have what you want
Bill Callahan- Sometimes I wish we were an eagle
Woods- Songs of shame
St. Vincent- Actor
Fever Ray- Fever Ray
The Decemberists- The Hazards of Love
The Dear Hunter- Act 3: Life and Death
Other Lives- Other Lives
Super Furry Animals- Dark Days/Light Years
Bell X1- Blue lights on the runway
Animal Collective- Merriweather post pavillion
Anthony and the johnsons- The Crying Light
Andrew Bird- Noble Beast
Merriweather Post Pavillion by Animal Collective- 3.75ish/5
Crack the Skye by Mastodon- 4/5( could be better if it wasn't lyrically and conceptually all over the map)
The Ecstatic by Mos Def- 3.5ish/5
Still looking forward to albums by AFI, Porcupine Tree, Wintersun, and Between the Buried and Me... and Mew :P. This year has a lot of potential to own or suck, still.
I've bought a couple of decent albums. But it doesn't beat two Nine Inch Nails releases in a year.
Good albums this year are:
Journal for Plague Lovers - Manic Street Preachers
Primary Colours - The Horrors
Immolate Yourself - Telefon Tel Aviv
Veckatimest - Grizzly Bear
The Eternal - Sonic Youth, earns a mention, although not as good as it could have been.
I await the new Mew album, and the new Health album, as I expect both to be good. Other than that, average year so far.
Mos Def- 3.5ish/5DivergeUnifySo if I was looking to listen to some of his work I'd be better off getting Blackstar?

[QUOTE="DivergeUnify"] Mos Def- 3.5ish/5Wilfred_OwenSo if I was looking to listen to some of his work I'd be better off getting Blackstar? Black on Both Sides is an awesome album, if you haven't heard it yet. I personally haven't heard Blackstar, but it's really well acclaimed The problem I've found with The Ecstatic is it feels like he doesn't really have much command so to say. Listen to his song "Hip Hop" and he's got complete control over everything he says. On the Ecstatic there feels like a lot of filler content and he just doesn't have too much command.

New Mew album? Details plz

No More Stories, comes out 24th August in the UK. They were supporting Nine Inch Nails and playing stuff off it, it seemed as good as ever.
That's exciting! :D I finally got a full album from them at the start of summer and was really impressed :)The only album that I've really enjoyed this year is Fantasies by Metric. The new Set Your Goals album comes out this Tuesday, though.
:D

ive checked out a few of those bands before and didnt like them much. its pretty rare that ill like more than one album a year anyway.I don't really listen to any underground or indie music, but most of the mainstream has been quite annoying so I rate it fail/10.

I've tried to get into Four Year Strong, but I just can't. I'm really excited for the new Set Your Goals album. It's been leaked online, but I refuse to download it. I hope it tops Mutiny!.its been meh for me so far.
im currently waiting for Breaking Benjamins new ablum to come out in september then it shouldnt be too bad:P
Mainstrem music sucks every year...you really should start looking for better music:PI don't really listen to any underground or indie music, but most of the mainstream has been quite annoying so I rate it fail/10.
Commander-Gree
kasabian's album is ok, although the best songs on it were either on the fast fuse ep or leaked, arctic monkeys new stuff sounds boring, twangs new stuff amazing, but hands down and miles out in front so far this year for me has been doves brilliant album

Haha I just don't really listen to much music in general lately. The only album I'm looking forward to is the new Muse album in the fall.
Well I've found a lot of great new music this year, but most of it is not from this year. However, Contagious by Trapt, New Divide by Linkin Park, and Lifeline by Papa Roach were all released this year, so it isn't all bad so far. I just wish Breaking Benjamin would come out with something new. >__>
