The most important fact related to this thread is how short this riot period is/was, how swiftly people were arrested, tried and convicted, and how tiny and insignificant these thugs are compared to the overwhelmingly large number of counter protestors.

The second most important factor is to acknowledge that there are legitimate questions with respect to migrations of people and the ability of societies to deal with the economic fallout. The discussion degenerates into a focus on the color, looks, ethnicity, religion of migrants, etc, all of which are just red herrings. This is a numbers and skills equation and there are real issues around housing, employment, healthcare, etc. which affect everyone and economics as a whole.

Last, I cringe when I hear tropes about countries like the US and Canada being founded upon immigration as a justification for poor govt management of immigration today. Separate the economics from the social attributes of the people. A giant unpopulated resource rich continent in a pre-industrial era is NOT comparable to mass migration in the realities of today's world. Govts everwhere are failing to address the real economic issues. And hypothetically, even if this was not the case there still is nothing to justify these riots. Burning down innocent businesses and random police stations. In British English, "Asian" means brown South Asians most of the time. In the UK, it's much less common for "Asian" to mean East/Southeast Asians, but they're usually referred to as either "East Asian" or their individual ethnicities most of the time.
