Both have their pros and cons.

Though I see many more cons in rap than I do rock...

...i mean con as in a bad thing, not con as in con artists

I personally am a rock fan, but I'm not going to bash rap just because I don't like it. Other people like rap, so I say to each their own.

I prefer rock. Rap has always seemed immature to me, probably due to the gang culture associated with it.

Not another one of these... Personally, rock, namely metal. I do listen to rap occaisonally, mostly Mike Shinoda and Lupe Fiasco.  I do not believe that one genre is superior to another.  Rap isn't all crap, and not all metal is unintelligable screaming.

Rap nowadays sucks (the mainstream at least) and I occasionaly listen to Rock (Classics mostly). So I listen to 80-90s rap and underground.

For those who think rap and hip hop performers aren't artists, please don't be so close minded.  In fact, listen to k-Os and tell me that isn't an artist.  I would love for this discussion to continue without blanket statements like that.

Why do people compare these genres? Really? It hurts my brain.

I like Rock more, but I do enjoy Rap/Hip Hop.

Oh, and capital insults towards Rap in this thread, gushing with mind bending creativity never seen before that definitely isn't fuelled by an ignorance of the genres' best talent.

But there are so many other rappers from the south that make up for it, like Outkast, Goodie Mob, Ludacris, and Nappie Roots.  Call me crazy, though, but I kinda like Paul Wall.  I'm tired of his content, but I like his rhyme style.  Young Jeezy I was never crazy about and Mike Jones... well... he's the type of guy you want to hit in the mouth with a pipe.

Anyone else feeling deja vu at the moment?

Music ftw, these dumb ass topics are for people that haven't realized that each genre has its share of good and bad artists.

Uh huh.  I love it when people demand an explanation of other peoples' opinions, yet provide no justification for their own beliefs beyond "I don't like it."

Yea but those artists don't make music the way paul wall, mike jones, or young jeezy do.Â
