I'd rather not get too involved with it again, but I am morally opposed to same sex marriage. If you claim to be christian, and you support it, then you are not christian.

It can't cause problems, legalizing it can only result in equal treatment of couples under the law. If a church doesn't want to marry gay couples then fine, but there is no decent reason that belief should be supported by U.S. law.

I'm not claiming that it will cause problems 100% of the time but I there are numerous articles about how children with same sex parents are more likely to commit suicide, and to have drug problems.

Articles published by whom?

Are their claims based on correlation?

Also, rich, white, protestant, males are more likely to commit suicide than any other demographic, does that mean we should stop people from being rich and protestant?

Furthermore, the reason these groups were so high in suicide rates was deemed to be their isolation, if there is a causitive effect of having gay parents and suicide wouldn't it make sense that the cause of that might be the isolation they face as pariahs for having gay parents? Perhaps we should attack the unfair stigmas instead of the innocent people who are just trying to give children good homes.

And the children that commit suicide with a mother and a father? If we eliminate same-sex marriage for that reason, then eliminate all marriage along with it.

Oh LikeHaterade :P You know what they mean. Same sex relations(or behaviour similar to it) is called an 'abomination' in the Bible, in numerous areas. Even though, you know, Abomination is a modern word assigned to describe numerous acts when they had 'issues' making a proper translation and didn't have the tools to look at the contextual issues at the time. But hey, it says it's an abomination NOW, so it must be true.

Lol, let me see. :) Lev 18:22-23 "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination." Lev 20:13 "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death." 1 Cor 6:9 "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals" 1 Tim 1:9-10 "realizing the fact that (civil) law is not made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers" Rom 1:26-27 "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error."

Or Bible basher?

There's a difference between an opinion and a substantiated fact. An opinion is that legalizing gay marriage will cause young people to be gay a substantiated fact is that gay people are already gay and the legality of marriage won't change that. There's also a difference between throwing outaccusations and having a substantiated opinion. An example of throwing out accusations would be saying that anyone who doesn't agree with you is a Bible-basher, a substantiated opinion would be saying that people who think gay marriage should be illegal because of their own personal opinion, and in spite ofsubstantiated facts to the contrary, are ignorant is a substantiated opinion based in logic, reason, and facts.

Good, when America becomes a Christian theocracy you can outlaw gay marriage citing those verses, but right now we guarantee all men equal treatment under the law regardless of creed, so the Bible means squat in terms of legality.

The bible also says not to eat shellfish because it is an abomination, yet I don't see Christians protesting Red Lobster, yay for picking and choosing what to believe. Also I don't see what the bible has to do with U.S law.

It has almost nothing to do with US law. That is not the point. If you are christian, you might want to change US law because of what the bible says.

Mmm. The status of marriage doesn't involve itself in which sexual organ each partner has where I live (Canada yay!). Proof it doesn't matter, and it doesn't harm. :)

[QUOTE="PerfectCircles"][QUOTE="Darkainious"] Lol, let me see. Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals" 1 Tim 1:9-10 "realizing the fact that (civil) law is not made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers" Rom 1:26-27 "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error."Darkainious

Or you might want to respect that little thing we have called freedom of religion and seperation of church and state, you know, the one that was created in part because of the institutional discrimination certain Christian sects were responding to by coming to this continent from Europe in the first place.

[QUOTE="PerfectCircles"] I call bull**** on that one. I've read many articles that say the exact opposite, they said if anything the child grows up being more tolerant. *edit* wait I remember you, your going to talk about how your sister works in some rehab place for girls and the majority of the girls come from same sex household

PerfectCircles

Haha yeah I am. I am sure they would be more tolerant. Heres an article for you (Oh and you are about to claim this source is biased :) http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=27431

 Why are you posting the article if you know its biased.

I don't think its biased. I just think flamers are going to flame. Thanks Snipes_2 8)

Mmm. The status of marriage doesn't involve itself in which sexual organ each partner has where I live (Canada yay!). Proof it doesn't matter, and it doesn't harm. :)

Lockedge

Lucky. :(

I think we're(the US) starting to come around though. :)

What translation is that?

A modern one. Homosexual is a modern word, so this is probably the NIV or some form of it.

SO you think its right to force everyone to live under your beliefs? What if the majority was Muslim would it be ok for them to force their beliefs into law and make you follow them?

I'm glad Prop 8 is on the road to being repealed. I've got a friend who got married during the brief window between when gay marriage was legalized an Prop 8 passed.

WorldNetDaily *is* biased! They promote the birther agenda and they had that mind-bogglingly moronic "V for Vendetta" review!

Absolutely not. Homosexuality should be discouraged

Don't give into the homosexual agenda! If we allow gay marriage, our entire society will be even more degraded. Gay marriage is an oxymoron, everyone knows that marriage is between a man and a woman

Aye. I'm hoping it does well, either in the 9th circuit or the Supreme Court. I wouldn't mind the US's marriage laws revamped in one fell swoop, but if it's just California, I'm totally good with that too. I like how NOM is up in arms about "7 million Californians having their will overturned". Right, because the other 48% of California didn't matter either? If there was a 1 vote difference separating both sides, population would be a non-issue as it's pretty indecisive either way. Hell, in cases as serious as this where altering the constitution is involved, there should at least be a 55% or 60% mark that propositions need to hit in order to show a clear sign of support. 52%? That's hardly over half and not enough to bring up a complaint involving the number of people involved. Complaining of activist judging ismore appropriate(even if this case doesn't involve it). That's all my opinion though.
