[QUOTE="magicalclick"][QUOTE="rowzzr"]if the school has regulations against cross dressing and/or public display of affections toward both sexes or anything like it, and the students agreed to this via a contract upon school entry, then the school has a legal right, i suppose. if not, this is dumb.Saturos3091
You can't have CONTRACT in a public school. That's pretty much it.

What makes this even more wrong is that they canceled prom for *EVERYONE.* They didn't just prohibit the girl who was violating the dress code from going.

I think it's important that they did because now everyone's anger is directed at that girl. Had it been just her, she would've had sympathy on her side. Now, she'll be the target of everyone's ire from now until graduation and she'll be remembered as, "The dumbass who ruined it for everyone because she thought she was special." After what's sure to be a dreadful few months, she probably won't pull another stupid stunt like this.

[QUOTE="theone86"]

[QUOTE="racer8dan"]God doesn't expect you to never sin again, he knows your going to make mistakes, when you repent it has to be something you truly, from the heart, want to eliminate from your life, if your just saying the words and continue on it means nothing. thats the difference.

racer8dan

So if god is real, and god controls everything, that means god gave homosexuals their homosexual urges, and he knew that those urges would never stop as they would be a part of who that person was, and yet god decided that them having those urges was THEIR sin and if they acted on those urges they would have to ask for HIS forgiveness, and then those people with homosexual urges who are asking forgiveness for somethingthat happens naturallyare supposed to worship him as a benevolent being, correct? Maybe it's just me, but I don't follow the logic in that all the way through.

I'm NOT going to turn this into a religion debate. I simply stated the fact that, theres no such thing as a homosexual christian, because if your a christian you believe in the bible and the bible talks against homosexuality, I didn't write it and I personally don't know everything thats in it and I am certainly not a bible scholar.

Leviticus discusses homosexuality, and do you follow every rule in Leviticus? Jeez, I sure hope not. Stoning women to death ain't cool.

Lets flip the situation. If it were a male wearing a dress then the same would have been done. What they should have done was not allowed the cross dresser to prom.

I am sure if a boy went to the prom in a dress the same thing would have happened. She is a bitter fat girl looking to cause problems for everybody else.

We don't know they were doing it for attention. You are simply assuming they did even though we have no reason to, because if we don't assume that, your arguement really doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Technically, the main problem here is the dress code. If that's what the prom got cancelled for, then obviously the dress code has to be revised. That's exactly what should happen anyway - the main arguments I've seen for keeping it in its current state are basically "it's how we've always done it" and "because I prefer it this way", which are utterly invalid because neither of those pathetic attempts at rationales have any logic behind them.

So the school is causing untold psychological torment and punishment toward a girl for their own bigoted regulations?

I smell a lawsuit.

Not really, no. Especially not a female wearing male clothes since alot of women cross dress daily and it isn't as big of a deal.

There are people who are more comfortable in the opposite genders clothing, they arn't all grabbing for attention. I probably wouldn't notice or care if a woman wore a tux.

I also don't see how one person breaking the rules=punish everyone, unless the school was indeed trying to psychologicly torture the two. In which I hope they are sued so badly their head spins.

Plus they would of been kicked out anyway since it was also against the rules to bring a date of the same sex. I'm curious why the school decided to do all this. It's got "lawsuit" written all over it.

So wanting to be able to attend prom with her girlfriend makes her a spoiled princess brat? I think she just wants equal treatment and didn't expect the school officials to be total bigots and cancel the prom for everyone.

I have seen girls with no date go with their friends other girls and nobody said anything. So obviously she did something to draw attention to herself ie cross dressing. She knew the dress code and thought F-em I am gonna do what ever I like. That's what makes her a spoiled brat.

This lesbian thing is just a excuse to get back at them for not letting her do what she wanted.

It was in the rules for their prom that your date must be of the opposite gender, its not just about the cross dressing its about the school discriminating against gays and lesbians. Also the cross dressing isn't that big of a deal who cares if some girl wants to wear a tux it isn't hurting anyone, the school needs to chill out and leave their bibles at home not in a public school.

Since homosexual couples were also against the rules I've no doubt there would of been trouble regardless of if she crossdressed.

The club simply doesn't let you in. The bouncer doesn't go inside the club and tell everyone they have to leave now because you showed up in the wrong attire.

The club is also not a public school.

Nice attempt at a strawman fallacy, but what I'm saying is that the school should revise its dresscode. I don't see how that magically translates into "make an exception for one couple". :|

Man it must suck so hard to not be able to take your date to the prom. In a more extreme incident, I have a gay cousin, and she lives in Botswana and she can't be seen with her girlfriend or she could be fined/imprisoned :? How messed up is that? Imagine being unable to be intimate with the person you love.

Don't make this a religeous argument. There are many gays who claim to be Christian.

Juggernaut140

They can claim to be christians all they want, but it doesn't really matter, hell is their destination. If you say your a christian then you believe the bible, if you believe the bible, then you believe whats written in it, if you believe whats written in it, you believe homosexuality is an abominable sin, sin takes you to hell.

INless its a private school, a female student wearing a tuxedo shouldn't be a violation.. Dress codes are there to prevent people from being too exposing or a disruption with what it says on it.. A tux does neither.

And here is where our debate ends, because quite frankly any one who takes the bible literally isn't worth the time for a rational debate.. Because their entire perspective is irrational by today's standards to begin with.

Indeed She Should have! :P

INless its a private school, a female student wearing a tuxedo shouldn't be a violation.. Dress codes are there to prevent people from being too exposing or a disruption with what it says on it.. A tux does neither.

Even public schools have a dress code......

The hell with "today's standards", I couldn't care less whats considered "standard" today. I personally believe we were created by God, believe what you want.

That only applies within lesson time, prom is not a lesson therefore it does not apply.

I don't really see how this applies. Believing that lesbians will go to hell dosn't mean you need to impose your view on them, just let them go to hell.

Public schools have a simple dress code that has nothing to do with guys wearing feminie clothing (as long as they are covered up) and vice versa.

Well now you can't know what every public school system has for a dress code. And anyway my initial comment was to your response that public schools don't have a dress code. Which they do and you now agree on.

Not true, at my old high school there are now distinct rules for each gender ... They tried to smarten the place up by bringing in formal school uniforms, inevitably the girls now look like they bought their outfits at a role play shop.

This is all going back to a post that said gays can be christians. I was just stating my thoughts on the matter, like everyone else on the forums do.

Sounds a little ridiculous. Seriously, what's the big deal? Just have the dance. Let the girls be boys. Not a big deal. Have some tolerance for goodness sake.

Pixel-Pirate

So basically one person could not follow the rules so change them is what your saying lmao.

I go club stand in line and the club has a no jeans or t-shirt dress code but everybody else should follow the dress code but me lol cause I am special. Yeah it's all about me I don't have to follow the rules.

Yeah that makes perfect sense to me and only me.

The club simply doesn't let you in. The bouncer doesn't go inside the club and tell everyone they have to leave now because you showed up in the wrong attire.

The club is also not a public school.

I guess you never been to a public school there is a dress code it may not be enforced but there is one. In a small school I am sure it was.

As for the club the bouncer will remove you if you don't want to leave. I am sure she knew what going on and refused to leave was most likely making drama and being difficult. So they said that's it proms over everybody go home cause they didn't want to put a foot in her behind that she deserved.
