Should marijuana be legal?

It's pathetic when people smoke drugs and think they're cool by doing it or with friends, etc. It should ONLY be legal for medical purposes. I'm not facist or anything but drugs ruining things these days and they always have.WushuFighter

If they made it legal and pain killers, anti-depressants, and even alcohol illegal I'd be a happy man.

As far as anyone knows it has no negative side effects, immediate or over a long period of time.. meanwhile you can kill yourself by taking the majority of a bottle of Tylenol. I just don't get it..

"Think they're cool"? Jesus, do you even know what a drug is? Most people don't smoke or do drugs because they think it makes them look cool. They do it because it feels good. Cannabis is probably one of the most tame street drugs available. Cannabis is a lot less dangerous then some legal drugs (alcohol being a good example.) You can't OD from smoking too much weed. Does it do some long term damage from continual use? Yes, but tobacoo, alcohol, and some over the counter/prescription drugs do too.

What people who are against cannabis legalization need is perspective.

Yeah cannabis is more tame but it is still abused. Same with every other drug or alcholic drink there is. It's a pretty touchy subject but I was talking about crowds of people who think they're cool by doing drugs and not knowing what they are getting themselves into.

What "crowds of people" are you talking about? It is pretty simple, if you get high you will either like the feeling and continue doing it, or if you don't like it, you won't.

marijuana is the least dangerous 'recreational drug' but its still a drug. it will cause damage to your body overtime, but anyone who 'would' do drugs, 'will' do drugs - even if that means breaking the law. legalization might be better, because it would feed the government money and cause less shady drug dealing and minimize gang drug wars most likely. marijuana and all other drugs should be used for medical purposes only. but the government telling people what to do with their bodies could be considered facism. But on the other side, because its illegal, it drives people to either stop it, or friends of the user to help curb his/her addiction. Meaning if it was legal, people wouldnt think its really a big deals, like tabacco, and more and more people would begin to do it. I'm undecided on this arguement. if it isnt broken, dont fix it.

All drugs that have a medical use should be available for medicine ONLY.

NO drug should be available for recreational use, and yes, I am including caffeine in that generalization. Drugs are not for dumbasses who think the world revolves around them; they are for people who are in pain and need relief.

The problem is that the current system is broken. We waste ridiculous amounts of money attempting to remove the supply, as well as processing and jailing non-violent "criminals", which in turn leads to the real threats to society being released early due to over-crowding prisons. At the very least, it should be decriminalized.
