I'm not sure what the point is given the tldr state of mind that our population lives with.

Listen to yourself. You are whining about having to wait 5 days to get your handgun.

I'm pointing out the reasons why I don't think NICS works.
I don't like it either but at least you have some security in place. Your a cop so you know that having a safe that has a poor fire rating and is not part of a security system is not smart. I have a pistol box next to my bed but the rest are secure.

Some of us can't afford the kind of safe that some people would like us to have. Unless you're willing to chip in, I'll stick with my gun cabinet.
In other news, the For What It's Worth blogger has published the names and addresses of the White Plains newpaper editors and journalists who posted said map of licensed weapons owners in their paper. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Journalists Addresses Posted In Revenge For Newspapers Google Map Of Gun Permit Owners and Where are the Journal News employees in your neighborhood? both have more information.
If journalists want to be that stupid, they should have to be able to live by the precidence they set. Their addresses and names are all part of the public record after all. They are fair game with their boneheaded move to publish weapons owner's names.

When someone breaks into your house you would want your gun in a safe, that way you could throw the safe at them.Houses where the thief knows a gun is are more likely to be robbed, not less. they can make money on guns, or upgrade their own arsenal. The houses least likely to be robbed are the ones where the thief doesn't know for sure either way. I live in Georgia, I don't need a license of any type unless I want to conceal and carry.Well at least thieves now know which places to avoid. This may very well save lives.

Nah, I'd rather throw lead.
cons: it shows who is armed and who is not, removing the unknown element of legal gun ownership. (greatly improving the information aspect of potential crime, information is key to any successful enterprise)
invasion of privacy
increased sense of insecurity from understanding the impact this might have (expect gun sales to rise sharply)
pros: it allows people to move away from or closer to areas based on their comfort level of legal gun ownership (false sense of safety? a shallow theory based on a shallow understanding of cause and effect? )

Is a lead safe safe?I can't believe no one commented on the newspaper's reporters and publishers places being mapped out and divulged.
Turnabout is fair play like they say....I can't believe no one commented on the newspaper's reporters and publishers places being mapped out and divulged.

The blogger apparently wrote a letter to the paper or something like that and it was posted online inquiring about the address for the female publisher and they edited the address out. It looks like the paper doesn't enjoy their personnel having their addresses divulged, yet they think nothing of ding so with people who do wish to remain anonymous and want to publish more information on those said people (see above links to find said info, I didn't want to post directly to said info as the mods here may ban someone for doing so). Go figure.
The newspaper is simply trying to intimdate gun owners, nothing more and nothing less.
radicalcentrist
That may be the intent of the woman who runs that paper, but it could also be a political ploy to demonize those who own weapons by using her paper to do so and a way to push for even stricter gun laws in NY. The wench should have stopped it as an invasion of privacy, but instead gave criminals tons of information that is usable to them.
[QUOTE="DevilMightCry"]This was utter nonsense, retaliation to responsible and registered owners, as some kind of rational response to the gun debate and CT shooting. Godamn journalists at the Journal News and their non sense.Ace6301fixed that for you. i guess he's still butthurt over the massive defeat that Romney experienced.

Just generalizing several hundred million people on the actions of like...maybe 12 is not calling out.
Janet Hasson is the I D ten T that is President and publisher of the Journal. One also has to wonder why the editor,Cynthia R Lambert neeRoyle has taken her Facebook page down as well as her Twitter page. What is even worse, the reporter who put it all together,Dwight R Worley, is also a registered weapon owner. Go figure. Yes, these people are most likely liberals as most of the press is.

No. I am a gun owner with a conceal carry and I don't want my information being public, that's also the worst advantage you can give a criminal. You don't want them to know that you have a gun, they will come more prepared if you do.
I do support gun registration though, which is standard practice.

It's not a wet dream since the ideology of the president doesn't matter considering his lack of power when compared tk the judiciary and congress. The ideology is just an added bonus. As long as he stacks the court with liberals (compared to the courts current placement), all is good.[QUOTE="kingkong0124"][QUOTE="DroidPhysX"] Do wish he was more of a centre left wing president.DroidPhysX
