Yup. As the title reads. At class today, one of my [former] friends asks me if I celebrated the Muslim holiday yesterday. Well seeing how as I was an agnostic for the past couple of months because i saw too many contradictions in religion (sorry for people that took offense to this) i told her "No, I dont see the point in religion anymore". She proceeds to tell me "Wow,You're going to hell". How am i going to hell, when i dont believe in it?
Well, if someone seriously and genuinely tells you that you're going to go to Hell, it makes sense to them since it's what they believe in, and they clearly think that you're incorrect in your personal beliefs. Obviously since you don't believe in it, you don't think that you'll go there. It's really as simple as that...
Religious people are funny like that. I bet they would get all upset and offended if I went around telling them there's a good chance that when they die they'll find out that there is no hell, only darkness. Personally if a religious person tells me I'm going to hell I just tell them "see you there".
I think your "friend" was wrong to say that. According to a number of religions, that's what will probably happen to you if you don't believe, however she still shouldn't have said that. To be honest, I think religion is a private issue. Do you believe you're going to hell? Do you act immorally? Who knows and frankly, who cares. I hold certain religious beliefs, but if you don't believe them that's your decision. Because of that, I think you shouldn't be worried about going to hell or not. Just live life as you want to.
Just reply with the same thing I always reply with when people say that to me, " Don't worry, I managed to get myself a nice condo down there by the lava ocean."
Speaking as a religious person, your friend misses the real point of religion. :P

It wouldn't be fair to send an agnostic to hell just because supposed divinities have failed to provide tangible evidence. I don't believe non-believerswould be sent to hell for not believing. If something does exist NOT believing doesn't stop it from existing. The idea that Non-believers go to hell for not believing just seems like somefanatical propaganda to me.

Well he was taught in religion before so I guess he can't really forget what he has been taught his whole life. Hell is indeed a scary place But I do get the irony, nice one :lol: So TC? What do you have to say in your defense?

They might take you more seriously and you might be able to make a point if you try to conduct yourself like an intelligent adult. Avoid insults and abuse, they only make you look more ignorant than the person with whom you are debating.
Inteligent adults don't go aroung condeming people to hell.
TC you don't need to believe in a religion to believe in a higher being (god) I personally think there is someone of a higher power, and we will be judged for our actions, but I think humanity has fabricated god into religions and praying, etc

yeah I used to make points but now I decide I cant be ****** with that anymore so I just laugh at them and mock them. They barely listen when you make valid points anyway, I have to say muslims and heathens are the worst.

Well it just depends on your religion. In Roman Catholicism, faith "and" good works are required. Also I believe in the concept of purgatory; so lets say you're a good person, but weren't really religious. So you'll go to purgatory for a time to pray and repent.
