I'm trying to following New Years Eve when people kept hugging me and i was embarrassed by the squishy person they found themselves squeezing. Here's the deal though; if you work out, what are your routines?

I do 100 press ups, in various sets, 20 curls with heavy bells and 15 tricep dips, every other day. In th days in between i do a 10 minute ab workout (video on YouTube) and i run for about 20 minutes.

But it doesn't really feel like enough to me. It seems like my 'workout' is always over and done with in the space of half an hour, whereas my buddies go the gym for like two and a half hours. I wonder what the hell they could do for that long, beause by the end of my 100 press ups my arms are pretty beat.

How about you, OT?

Yeah that's more or less me in a nutshell. People always say i'm insane when i say i need to hit the gym and lose weight because when i'm clothed obviously i look like i'm in perfect shape, but every inch of my body is covered with like a tiny layer of flabbiness. :P I'm doing good though, my arms aren't exactly 'big' but they used to be the aforementioned squishy piles of nothing whereas now they're at least hardening up a little.

I took a look at p90x and it looks awesome, but i live in a fancy studio apartment so there's no way i could install a pull up bar anywhere and that looks like a pretty integral part of the whole thing.

On certain days of the program it is yes, but you can use resistance bands to substitute i think. do you have access to a gym?

There is also the option of placing work-out bands over a hinge (I believe you can also use a door somehow) to stimulate a pull-up motion.
I used to do them that way since I was too weak to do more than a single pull-up.

Anyways, I usually spend about an an hour at the gym. This includes a 5-8 minute warm-up. 2 hours seems a little excessive to me, it's possible they're the type who go to the gym to talk, more than work-out.
Usually these are the same type who love bragging about how long they spend in the gym, how hard they work, etc.

if you want to work your lats you can just put the workout bands in your door, then bend over like you are in a prison shower and pull them towards your waist. Ive tried those bands though and they usually dont tend to have much in the way of resistance.... so i use powerlifting bands.... but those dont fit in a door hinge.

I want to work out but I have a feeling I woldn't stay with it in the long run. I'd like to get the P90X but does it work? And with the whole pull up bar doesnt it just go over the top of the door or do you need to connect it in the the wall or something?

Day 1: Upper-body routine + Legs, Day 2: 45 minutes of cardio + abs, Day 3: Off. Each day lasts around 60 to 70 minutes. Works for me, but make sure that you're getting proper nutrition or all the work you put in at the gym is for nothing (ie. fats, proteins, carbs).

I also find a 2 days on, 1 day off routine effective. Heavy weight leg and arm exercises on the first day, stamina and abs the second.

That does not sound like what you what you to do for that.
(not sure if your post indicated a desire for advice...if not, I apologize)

Long, steady, med-to-low intensity cardio sessions are terrible for reducing fat (especially on the belly).
You want very high intensity interval trainning for that (targets fat and leaves muscle) + diet changes

If you do not know what interval training is

It does not have to be running (hard for some people, boring to others, etc).
It can be any cardio you want.
-just go as hard and fast as you can for x amount of time, then rest (go slow) for a shorter amount of time
-the longer you go as fast as you can + the shorter the rest time + more intervals = better

The hardest part of working out is consistency. If you want to get into shape quicker, then you should spend more time at the gym or working out. I prefer the shorter workout over a longer period, which is also a exercise of will power.

Sure. I've been working on gaining weight in muscle, so I usually just lift. I heard Schwarzenegger's explanation about bodybuilding, but I do it for different reasons.

I don't "work out" to get big. I run cross country and track for my university. My coach's workout schedule has me running about 60-65 miles this week. You can do the math for how many that is (average) per day.
