Yes but its harder to gain weight and bulk if you do cardio

You do know that football players do speed/cardio, and look at them.

yeh but he might be an ectomorph like me so it is a crap load harder to gain weight and bulk up when your doing cardio unless your eating like a mammoth

More means that you can get from point a to point b faster. And with endurance you can go longer, and harder than you could otherwise. A combination of all three is ideal.

thats not going to do much for you tc....go to the gym...this is all you need to do. 3 times a weeks.

heres my work out...

A
squats
bench press
military press
dips
upright rows
abs

B
squats
cleans
deadlifts
pull ups
rows
abs

so you go like this. monday is "A". weds is "B". then friday is "A" again. then monday is "B" then A then B....

shouldnt take you more then 2 hours. working out for too long is bad for your muscles. so if you find your self working out for then 2 hours your doing it wrong. high intensity. go as heavy as you can. 4-5 sets each.

keep it up and in 4 months you will se improvments. keep it up more and you'll be as DEEZED as i am:P

I alternate between cardio and strength training daily, taking the 7th day off. I throw in yoga twice a week.

Or at least that is what I pretend to do.

you do know that lifting weights alone does work your endurance, speed, explosiveness, and strength rite? it all depend on what type you do. power cleans for example.

It's just useful man. And you didn't mention endurance at all. Also if you ever actually have to chase someone, or run from someone, and you don't heed my advice. I'm sure you'll be saying something like this: "I should listened to Big Red on OT:(, DAMNIT:o:x!!!!"

I get my cardio from hockey, which is 3-5 days a week

and I lift heavy 4 days a week. Bench 185lb , squat 225lb, amd deadlift 245lb... all for 4-6 reps.

whats the point? lifting weights seems to give me a better type of endurance because you have to push through pain, not just because your short of breath

What if you're running from someone/something that could destroy you, but can't catch you? What if you're chasing someone? What if you're playing paintball and you have to get from cover point to cover point quickly. What if you're chasing someone who stole your wallet/GF's purse? What if you're being chased by an angry mob with baseball bats, and pitchforks? What if you're playing unorganized pick up and play football?

[QUOTE="-Big_Red-"][QUOTE="Stanley09"] like someone else said, you gain endurance by lifting weights. for example when you push through the last few reps of squats or deadliftsStanley09
But you wouldn't get nearly as much endurance if you would actually train for it aswell. For instance in 9th grade I couldn't even run a quarter mile without stopping. Now my first year out of high shcool I can run 1.5 miles without stopping.

whats the point? lifting weights seems to give me a better type of endurance because you have to push through pain, not just because your short of breath

What you're talking about is perseverane(i think) Endurance training gives you that too.

[QUOTE="-Big_Red-"] It's just useful man. And you didn't mention endurance at all. Also if you ever actually have to chase someone, or run from someone, and you don't heed my advice. I'm sure you'll be saying something like this: "I should listened to Big Red on OT:(, DAMNIT:o:x!!!!"-Big_Red-

dude, when you focus on strength. why the need to run from somebody when you can destroy them with pure power?;)

What if you're playing unorganized pick up and play football?

ill cross those bridges when i get to it.

I just try to drink a lot of water and walk at least a mile outside of routine activities a day. Still weigh what I did in high school.

I don't work out. Your heart is good for a finite amount of beats, so why waste them exercising?

aransom

I don't think it works like that...

doing leg workouts will increase explosive speed without a doubt. and just because you dont run cardio every day doesnt mean you cant run at all
