I wouldn't mind seeing one of the star wars books written by aaron alston, michael stackpole, or timothy zahn getting turned into an animated tv series, or a full length live action movie.
Iffy350
7 8 and 9 should be his books timothy zahn the last command that series..Admral thrawn i just re read them great books..Only thing i didnt like is eventually chewie dies in that in that univers..Im not sure why he killed him off guess he couldnt right gggrrrawwl or chewies language..Not sure why chewie never had a universal translater either..All the tech they had in that universe lol..
Episode I was definitely geared towards kids, but III was hardly something i'd call a kids movie for sure.wis3boi
Indeed, Anakin was my little eight year old godson's hero... until he saw Episode III.
When Anakin killed all those kids, he was broken hearted.
Haha, I was relatively young when E III came out, and my mom didn't want to let me see it, but my dad just told her we went to some other crap movie. She heard about the kiddie massacre scene. Again, anyone like Indy more than SW?
Episode I was definitely geared towards kids, but III was hardly something i'd call a kids movie for sure.m0zart

Which was part of the reason Episode 1 was made to feel rather lighthearted--to give contrast later on.now matter the track record of the latest trilogy (I and II are fun to watch in a it's so bad it's good way; and i genuinely liked III), i pretty damn happy to hear this.

You only had to look at the first post, Mate :P
That's what I get for not scrolling over links... How embarrassing... :oops:Is Lucas directing these? If not, this is fvcking awesome news. If he is, then I'll be disappointed. He's a washed up has-been who destroyed a great creation.
Well....this is interesting.
Can't really say how this will go, could be pretty good; afterall, Disney didn't seem to @#$% Marvel up that much. At least not to my knowledge. At least Star Wars is in good hands now...which is rather sad beause the bad hands it was in previously were its own creator's hands. Just goes to show that absolute power corrupts absolutly.
I atleast hope that soon one day, we will finally see the Theatrical Cuts of the Original Trilogy pressed to Blu-Ray transfered from the original 1977, 1980, and 1983 35mm Film Reels.
These current defacements are just the beginning. Today, engineers with their computers can add color to black-and-white movies, change the soundtrack, speed up the pace, and add or subtract material to the philosophical tastes of the copyright holder. Tomorrow, more advanced technology will be able to replace actors with fresher faces, or alter dialogue and change the movement of the actors lips to match. It will soon be possible to create a new original negative with whatever changes or alterations the copyright holder of the moment desires. In the future it will become even easier for old negatives to become lost and be replaced by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society. Our cultural history must not be allowed to be rewritten. Attention should be paid to the interest of those who are yet unborn, who should be able to see this generation as it saw itself, and the past generation as it saw itself.- George Lucas - 1988

That is possible. That is if Lucas hasn't destroyed all evidence they existed already. I hope to have the bluray bundle under my x-mas tree this year. Make it happen Disney. Then lock it in the 'Vault' for ten years like everythin else.
Could be good. Could be bad. Couldn't be worse than Episode 1-3. I just rewatched the whole saga (all 6 films) last week. That was only the second time I'd see episodes 2 and 3. And good god. Those prequels are terrible movies. Literally the only redeeming quality is that they're in the "Star Wars" universe, which rocks. They're just legitimately bad movies, in every other way. Lame attempts at humorous dialog. Terrible direction. Great stories, told sloppily, with barely any cohesion. CGI completely overdone, and clearly used just because they could, not because it would actually add anything to the films (yoda's terrible lightsaber fights, etc.). Terrible acting across the board, even from otherwise great actors. Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman... SAMUAL L. MOTHERFVCKIN JACKSON?? But I guess you can't hold it against them. There's only so much a great actor can do when he's reading boring lines, completely devoid of emotion or purpose. And then there's Hayden Christiansen. I don't know if he's a better actor otherwise, because I don't think I've seen him in anything else. But jesus christ. His acting in 2 and 3 might be the most agonizingly bad deliveries I've ever seen, outside of 80s B movies.
Anyway, /rant
Point is, it's great to see the reigns taken away from Lucas. At least this way there's a chance that a new trilogy will be good. If it was another 3 movies written, directed, and produced by Lucas, you could be just about guaranteed that they'd be the worst Star Wars films ever, and possible candidates for "worst films ever". Lucas has proven himself to be completely unable to do anything right anymore. Which is why, looking back on them, it actually makes sense that he didn't have as much to do with the originals. Empire was easily the best thing ever produced with the Star Wars name on it, and Lucas didn't write it, direct it, or produce it. I can't even imagine how bad it would have been if he did. Oh wait, yes I can. By watching the latest blu-ray re-re-re-release.
hopefully its about the thrawn trilogy. never read the books but they are suppose to be pretty good from what i hear. would also make sense to do it because it happens after episode 6. though they would need a new cast to replace the original from the original trilogy.but i really i dont epsiode 7 coming out in 2015. its too soon plus it has no cast,no director, and no script. compsing the music is easy if they get john williams. and since george is no longer in charge of lucasfilms, disney could probably release the theatical cut of the 4,5,6. would also be nice if they release it in theaters as well. oh and i would really love to see extended edition soundtracks for all the films. only episode 1 got one and that was more than 10 years ago.
Is it just Lucasfilm LTD or all of Star Wars? Does this have any influence on 1313 at all? I was really looking forward to that...
C2N2
They bought the whole thing. Absolutely everything. But, reportedly, it will not have any effect on 1313.
Hopefully we'll see the first Star Wars movie that doesn't suck nowthemajormayor
We saw the first Star Wars movie that didn't suck 35 years ago. And the first one that was a cinematic masterpiece 3 years after that.
I'm hyped, even if the film sucks, I can look forward to redlettermedia's review of the movies.LonelynightI just watched all of this last week, beautiful.

The prequels were what made me hate the series as a whole(that and being unable to watch the originals without all that new cgi).

I still hold te opinion that 4, 5, and 6 are more visually appealing than 1, 2, and 3. Something about lucas's new CGI looks like it's all made of plastic, with painting backdrops.
You misunderstood. It's a new trilogy, Episodes VII to IX. Both of the previous trilogies took 6 years and Lord of Rings, took 4. So 2-3 years per iteration is plenty of time to make a good movie.
Niff_T
Ah, so it's only going to be a new trilogy?
And it wasn't the 2-3 years that worried me, it was them potentially milking the franchise indefinitely.
Count on them milking the franchise indefinitely. I realize that Lucasart's money doesn't just come from new movies, but there's not a chance in hell of Disney paying 4 billion dollars and then stopping with one trilogy. Any way you look at it, they need to "milk the franchise" now, and that's probably going to mean more than three new movies. So GL is not invloved, its off to a good start already, Iam kinda looking foward to this, it cant be any worse than the prequals right?

yeah, it's pretty much despicable how lucas has completely ruined those movies, and refuses to release them again, unaltered. Especially after all of his talks against that exact practice. He really is a terrible person, who has wrecked his own legacy, and deserves to be remembered as the fat, worthless, joke of a person that he will be remembered as.
Anyway, I'm pretty happy that I still have my original trilogy VHS boxset. Totally original, except for not being widescreen. Also, I recently found superb digital copies of all three originals, in the original anamorphic widescreen. They're not HD, obviously, but the picture quality is about as good as it's gonna get, without being one of the sh!tty rereleases. PM me, if you'd like to know where to get those.
Considering Lucas was slowly murdering this series one remaster at a time this is probably a net positive. With Disney it will probably either die quickly or get better. Here's hoping for a rerelease of the origional versions of the movies on bluray.

I have DVD copies of the originals...minimal changes, none of that bluray sh!t. They do have a few cgi extras like the concert in Jabba's Palace (that is always hilarious and well done, in my opinion)

Yeah, but in episode 4 don't they have Greedo shooting first at Han?
That really pisses me off.

I should have been specific. What I was referring to is the ridicule against the artist's right to change their work. Look I have no problem with Lucas making changes to the films, what I do have a problem with thought is altering the films and not making the original versions available. That is destroying art and cultural history.
So the problem isn't "altering the films at all", the problem is that he didn't make the original versions available. Keep that in mind, because he just as easily could have not done ANY new releases at all. This is pretty disturbing, because that then implies that EVERY artist is forever obligated to keep doing rereleases every time there's a format change.George Lucas neither wrote nor directed Empire Strikes Back, and did not direct Return of the Jedi, what right does he have to alter them? He conceived it and until recently, owned the IP, so yes, he did have a right to change it whenver he likes. Now Disney has that right instead.
That doesn't mean I have to like it, nor does it mean I have to buy it. But it is most assuredly doesn't belong to me, or you.
It's a shame when an artist is ridiculed for making changes to their own work. Wow. Just wow.BluRayHiDefI agree. The guy with Randy as his profile picture said something about him being a fat, worthless joke of a person. Come on now. He just thinks what he's doing is better.
I don't see what's so bad about Episodes 1-3, sure they are no where near as good as the origional trilogy. But they are still enjoyable films in their own right. The dialog might be a little silly at times, and Jar Jar is annoying (but was a good character for kids to laugh at), but overall I enjoyed them. I don't get the hate.
Looking forward to the new trilogy. Can't wait! Won't top the orgional trilogy though, I don't think anything ever will. Closest thing that came close to doing it was Lord of The Rings, which is my favorite modern day film series. But still it can't touch the orgional Star Wars trilogy.
