And Justice is a awesome CD, wow, glad someone said it, I like Metallica's stuff even with Load and Re-Load, but St.Anger made me sick, litteraly.

I agree that Slayer rules, but not with anything else you said. Metallica are gods of metal. Sure, they're not as good as they used to be, but I still like them. Opeth is amazing. They have an extraordinary amount of talent. Never really listened to Dream Theater so not going to say anything about that. Theres nothing wrong with Metalcore. They have some great bands like Killswitch Engage. And Melodic Death Metal is awesome. Children of Bodom and Arch Enemy are good examples of great Melodic Death Metal bands. Listen to the Bridge of Destiny solo, can you honestly say thats not an amazing piece of music?

I agree that Slayer rules, but not with anything else you said. Metallica are gods of metal. Sure, they're not as good as they used to be, but I still like them. Opeth is amazing. They have an extraordinary amount of talent. Never really listened to Dream Theater so not going to say anything about that. Theres nothing wrong with Metalcore. They have some great bands like Killswitch Engage. And Melodic Death Metal is awesome. Children of Bodom and Arch Enemy are good examples of great Melodic Death Metal bands. Listen to the Bridge of Destiny solo, can you honestly say thats not an amazing piece of music?

Metallica are not gods of metal. They are a thrash band, whose only real accomplishment was Kill 'em All, and only for its historic significance. Opeth is terrible. Simply because they write long, meandering songs does not make them talented. They may be talented musicians, but 90% of metal bands are composed of extremely competent musicians. Point void. They can't write coherent songs, the dynamics on any given song are almost always ridiculous. They suck. Metalcore is just a sound. Music for the body, not the mind: hence, sucks. Melodic death metal took everything great about death metal and... well, left it behind. And solos area really not essential.

- Opeth does not suck, they're are not "pure" Death Metal, they are DM with elemenths of prog. rock, blue, folk, and jazz

- Dream Theater (although not really my cup of tea) are over rated imo, but still very talented musicians

- Slayer does rule, but not as much as Kreator

- finally we agree on something; Metalcore should not be mentioned in this thread, or any other conversation regarding metal for that matter

- Melodic Death Metal is awesome. Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquility, Wintersun...so many great bands

- i agree some progresive metal is bad, but there is a hell of allot of good progressive metal bands to.

Agreed, except the metalcore thing, there is one metalcore band i like... Killswitch Engage, which I consider them heavy metal. Hate me if you must
