it's wierd how badly the marvel universe crushes the dc universe entertainment wise but then batman comes along and is better than the entire marvel universe put together.
other than batman i don't care at all about almost anyone else in the dc universe.
all the dc biggies are so drab and boring.
superman whose main superpower is pulling other superpowers out of his ass when he needs them.
wonderwoman who is ok but kinda creepy when you see the historical focus on bondage she was always all about.
green lantern who anyone can beat up as long as they own a banana costume and a wiffle ball bat with sand inside.
there are few dc toons i truely like and the ones i do are always ones that the mass media and population will never see like preacher and sandman and the question and the two guys from the old horror books cain and able.
Man of Steel is DC, and the Dark Knight movies were their formula (well, Warner Bros., and Marvel was Disney).
But seriously, the Spiderman movies were actually sh*t. The whole Spiderchrist is dying for our sins on the train thing was terrible. Plus, Tobey Maquire is the most feminine and wimpy actor of all time. Batman Begins was a turn in the opposite direction. X-Men... just no.
brucewayne69
Just no? There's no denying the first X-Men was pretty successful. And there's nothing inherently wrong with that film. If anything, it put the ever awesome Hugh Jackman in the spotlight. I didn't mention Spiderman, but I enjoyed the first one. Wasn't really down with 2 or 3, and never touched the reboot. Don't really see how Tobey Maguire fits into this discussion, though.
But like I said, if it's a question of revolution, points go to X-Men and Spiderman because Marvel's still putting out movies, and they're more in line with X-Men and Spiderman than Batman Begins. They're not bending over backwards to change their properties. If anything, DC is aping from Marvel, wanting to reboot Batman/Green Lantern for the idea of Justice League.
I prefer the more realistic approach that Christopher Nolan took with the Dark Knight Trilogy. I liked that Bruce Wayne destroyed his joints/body by being Batman for, what, a year? I think that Batman would have eventually had to use guns to last longer though.
3D ticket sales, mostly. Remember, none of the Batman movies were ever released in 3D.I've seen several of these types of discussions before and so many people favor The Dark Knight over the Avengers (on different websites), so how the heck does the Avengers make more money? Just better marketing/advertising?

i'm a huge Marvel fan, so anything from them, i'll pick that

Would had been easy to choose Batman but you hate Batman Begins so now it's tougher. Why are you reminding her of her own opinion?[QUOTE="soulless4now"]
I can't decide. It's a tough choice.

I would say they are as good as each other. People who are banging on about "if you like storylines then its all about batman..." surely you are also imune to massive plotholess and weaknesses in his storyline. For example at the start of the dark knight rises the guy was a cripple. He went to the doctors and he could barely walk etc. He then gets a robot leg, breaks a brick HUURRRAAAAHHHH he is back. The guy loses to bane to which he is then sent to the prison where he finds himself and apperently gains new cartalidge making it possible to train and to climb up a huge tunnel and jump super far.
Honestly there is a website in which it picks apart all of batmans horrible plotholes. A great one is "I hate guns, *cue bike with guns*".
The trillogy was great, but I still believe the second film was the better film overall. The third lacked a slick exercution.
. A great one is "I hate guns, *cue bike with guns*". o0squishy0obut did he kill anyone with those? Just look at the first movie, he had his tank full of guns, and he used it to destroy the train
They're really not the same. Nolan's Batman trilogy is closer to a serious crime drama whereas the Marvel comic book movies are more light-hearted with a fair amount of fan service. Both are good in different ways. That said, I prefer the Batman trilogy because I was just more into it.krazykillazGot to agree with you there
Really? Plotholes? I don't think there are many of consequence, the only one I can think of is how Gotham's population contracts from 30 million at the end of The Dark Knight to 11 million in The Dark Knight Rises, but that's it.I would say they are as good as each other. Simple
Iron Man ****
Iron Man 2 **
The Incredible Hulk **
Captain America **
Thor ***
The Avengers ****
vs.
Batman Begins *****
The Dark Knight *****
The Dark Knight Rises *****
The Dark Knight Trilogy wins

Clearly has never read a superman comic before. "pulling other superpowers out of his ass when he needs them" only he doesn't do that, not at all.
Lets look at his original powers:
super speed
super strength
can leap one eighth of a mile and jump over a ten story building
super hearing
super sight
super tough exterior that "nothing less than a bursting shell could penetrate"
One's he gained later on:
Flight
Heat vision
Frost breath
That hasn't really changed at all, and the one's he gained later on he's had for a long, long time
[QUOTE="Hatiko"]Morrison isn't leaving because of disputes with DC, plus he has about 9 months before he leaves! Liefeld is clearly a jerk, and a terrible writer, so no loss there. But I saw that about the WB employees... All I can say is.... FRANK MILLER JUSTICE LEAGUE WOOHOO Justice League vs. Al Qaeda baby!Marvel and DC are both dying. Marvel is trying to go crazy with infinite crossovers and has this fetish of heroes fighting heroes (Fear Itself, xmen schism, AvX, now Avengers Arena all in a row), DC is losing writers (Rob leifeld, some people may like this though, Grant Morrison, and others) although I applaud DC for trying to put aside some of the iconic villians and try to create new ones at the start of their post-Flashpoint new 52 (court of owls was well done, but Scott Snyder is a great writer). And I like how Hickman and Waid are onboard for Marvel NOW! (I'm not reading any of that though, waaaaaaaayyyyyy to much for me to still read)
Now onto movies, Marvel makes great movies, recently (yesterday) a rumor circulated that two staff members of WB walked into a comic shop and asked dumb questions like : "what superhero films have had good Facebook pages?, Do you think comic fans would accept a superhero film without Nolans involvement, would him serving as a producer suffice? What do fans think of Aquaman? Hes lame isnt he?, What is regarded as the strongest lineup of the Justice League and would work as a film?, What should DC do film wise?, making me die in the fact that anyone at WB has ever read DC comics.
Don't get me wrong, I have the Batman chronicles laying on the ground beside me along with Panic in the Sky and They Saved Luthor's Brain, I like these big heroes, they just need to go back to telling great stories and not trying to get a quick cash grab by doing some huge crossover (2012 AvX: Marvel , 2013 Trinity War: DC) And please get Dan didio to know what he's talking about and get DC editorial back on its feet. Don't say that Final Crisis happened then that is "sort of" happened and then that it didn't happen at all.
Oh and to answer your question, the Marvel movies, I like DC comics better, but I hate this whole "Let's make superheroes dark, gritty, and real" because they aren't supossed to be. Superheroes aren't supossed to be real, that ruins the fun of them. Just my opinions BTW cause I know I'm gonna get hammered.
brucewayne69
I know Morrison isn't leaving over disputes, I was just pointing it out that one of the biggest hitters in comics today is leaving DC (he had a long and great time with them though).
And Justice League vs Al-Qaeda, you know that is what he is going to do. Frank Millers: JLA vs Bombers of Doomsday of Middle Eastern Coalition, oh wait whoops! The new JLA is a random team:
Again, why was Rises bad?DKT simply beacause of the first two movies. Rises was bad. Avengers was great. And most of the other marvel oives are good too! But im a sucker for batmna, and TDK!
Bardock47
If you want comic books movies, Marvel.
If you want deep (considering the source material) introspective movies with themes, development and the like then your better off with the dark knight. Not saying the marvel movies don't have those things, they just aren't the things you think of in those movies.

That isn't the line up that they would use in the movie, and that's not the Justice League. It's the Justice League of America, a government run team. I'm probably not going to get this book, but it looks interesting.
Idk if you read comic books, but did you hear the rumor that Snyder and Jim Lee are doing a Superman book? That I'd get.
[QUOTE="o0squishy0o"]. A great one is "I hate guns, *cue bike with guns*". The_Last_Ridebut did he kill anyone with those? Just look at the first movie, he had his tank full of guns, and he used it to destroy the train No, but in all honesty that's just because he got lucky. In The Dark Knight, he was shooting his guns all over the place, blowing up all sorts of $***, and the only reason no one died is because it's a freaking movie and you can't show Batman shooting people to death.

Oh, i know they wouldn't use that in a movie. and I know it is the Justice League of America, hence why I said "new JLA is a random team". I knoe the JL is basically the same just without MMH who is replaced by cyborg (probably to have the "black guy").
And no I didn't hear the rumor about snyder and lee doing a superman book. I would drool all over that.
