The "T" should be removed from LGBT

I am gay and I don't think the T should be included. Its a WHOLE different issue, so I don't know why its being added to us. Being attracted to the same sex is a whole lot different issue than thinking you are a member the opposite sex. We dont choose to be gay. Nobody can prove we chose to either. However, we can prove that you were born a man or woman, so that is a choice to have a sex change. Its a fact.

I think the T is setting us back from progress because a whole different issue is being lumped in with us for no reason. . Our issue is a whole different matter, and not all gay people think having operations removing the gentilia you were born with is ok.

I've never heard anyone opposing gay rights point out the fact that the transgendered "movement" is included within the lgbt umbrella term as a deterring factor for them to accept it, whether explicitely or implicitely.

Why does it matter if they're lumped together or not? Discrimination is bad regardless of whether it's against race, gender or sexuality.

I think it's a good idea to know what it actually means to be transgender before making absurd judgments about them. For instance, not all transgender people want to get SRS on their external genitalia; many are comfortable with that they already have because it doesn't make them feel dsyphoric. Moreover, while transition treatments are freely chosen, being transgender is not. That's because transitioning is not the same as being transgender.

Just a thought.

As for your main point, look up Stonewall if you think that transgender people haven't helped the LGB movement.

I half agree because my MtoF friend is pretty much a straight girl.

But I also know that many other MtoF identify themselves to be MtoF and lesbian.

So I dont think this arguement is worth the time.

Uh, this isn't a question of changing genders.

If anything, trans people seem to undergo sex changes in order to reinforce the genders they were 'born with'.

Someone who is obsessed and dissatisfied with his body to the point of mutilating it for the sake of conforming to society's standards of what his supposed gender should look like is mentally ill. The last sentence is correct. As for the first sentence - no. I explicitly said that being lesbian does not prevent women from being happy. It just prevents them from experiencing the higher state of happiness that they would achieve if they could appreciate a man. As a general concept, the male body is absolutely superior to the female body (obviously men and women have equivalent intellectual capabilities). That is why homosexuality is rational among men, but irrational among women. Homosexuality among women is not actually destructive despite being irrational, so it is not a mental illness. Being transgender is both irrational and highly self-destructive, so it is a mental illness.Laihendi

Two points/questions:

1) Are you qualified to make value judgements of women's desires and needs as a man, specifically as a gay man who has no interest in women sexually?

2) If a woman transitions to a man, which in your estimation is the more superior gender physically, do you still consider that mentail illness?
