[QUOTE="toast_burner"]They can't marry. Sure there are countries that are worse, but not being the worst doesn't mean you're great. Who won the war for Independence? Who saved who's ass in WW2? Exactly.Agent-Zero
The battle of Britain ended before America joined world war 2. I'm not sure how they saved the British's arses.
Sure their if America didn't join it might have turned out differently, but it's impossible to predict what would have happened.
I love how many people on here are pro-same sex marriage but not polygamy...I'm against same-sex marriage for the same reason I'm against polygamy.

So you would allow polygamy? Why aren't you going on a "polygamy parade"? I'm sure those Muslims feel very persecuted right now..oh wait..they're not the ones complaining, you guys are.[QUOTE="toast_burner"][QUOTE="kingkong0124"]

So you would allow polygamy? Why aren't you going on a "polygamy parade"? I'm sure those Muslims feel very persecuted right now..oh wait..they're not the ones complaining, you guys are. Because unlike homosexuality polygamy is a complicated issue with some legitimate concerns. I agree that it has legitimate concerns, but according to most social liberals it's okay as long as all the parties involved give their consent. I don't think it's right, as marriage traditionally has been between 2 people: 1 man, and 1 woman. I find it funny how you guys are the ones with the persecution complex. Muslims, who think that polygamy is a good thing in accordance with their religion, are not the ones crying out about "civil rights" issues or that it is against the religious beliefs..funny how that works. When's the last time you saw an Islamic polygamy parade?[QUOTE="kingkong0124"][QUOTE="toast_burner"]

Both have crappy food (the British have THE WORST food, of course)... So, I'm going with the country that gave us Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Venom, Iron Maiden and all that good stuff.
HoolaHoopMan
To be honest, by South European standards both are pretty bad.
I'd probably go with countries like Japan, Australia, Canada etc. Places where there is opportunity - along with great healthcare, education, quality of life etc. The couple of times I have been to the USA have been nice, but I wouldn't want to live there, maybe the New England area. Definitely not the West Coast. I think I just don't like Americanism. I love the UK - especially its history, but there is nothing fantastic about it - it was nice, not great. (Not necessarily saying Japan, Australia and Canada etc are fantastic)Fire_Emblem_RDWhat about places like Austria? Vienna is regularly voted as having the highest standard of living in the world, Austria has some of the highest paid salaries, and it has the lowest rate of unemployment in the EU last I read.

[QUOTE="Postmortem123"][QUOTE="l4dak47"]Speaking as a U.S. citizen, all I can say is the U.S. is really, really, really sh*tty in many ways. l4dak47
What's so bad about it? I've been to the U.S a couple times and it was pretty awesome.
Education sucks, healthcare system is woefully bad, our politicians are fvcking god-awful, waaaaay too many fundies in this place, dumb laws, we keep losing more and more rights and freedoms, and I can go on forever. The only thing the U.S. is good at is bombing brown people. Not exactly an honorable thing.well we(the UK) arent that much better

We do, yes :)
Back when I took a vacation in the UK, the immigration and customs officer asked me aas to my intentions. They ask if you plan on finding work or staying for any long period of time. The Brits do not want people coming in and taking jobs from nationals. Canada required a $150 CAD for a work permit that is ony good for 34 days then you have to leave. If you go to a different job site, you have to leave for the night and go back the next day and pay another $150 CAD (though as a contractor, I get that money back and is ultimately paid for by the end customer).

It's only 50% after a certain income level is reached. Otherwise, everything that's been mentioned, which seems to be more than the others have going for them from what I can tell.[QUOTE="Storm_Marine"]

And long story short. If I moved to Austria instead of...say...Singapore. I'd lose around USD$40,000 every year. And like I said, what makes Austria so special that I could justify losing that not-so-small amount?

To be fair; everything after ~60k would be taxed 50%, the first 60k would still fall in lower brackets.[QUOTE="Storm_Marine"][QUOTE="Hexagon_777"]It's only 50% after a certain income level is reached.

Hm, not an expert on their taxation system but mostly going off on what other Euro countries (including my own, which has a 52% top bracket) do. Found this.
