^^I'm just not quite comfortable with guns, and the only reason for owning a gun way out in the country, is because it would take the police longer to get there than in a location in the city, and police response time is already something, so those where pretty much my reasons, but you're right, not many criminals out in the country, but still, thats why i moved.

Story, listen to the 911 call.

I've had to fire on an intruder before (I hit him but didn't kill him) and know the terror of a home invasion. This is why I want to beat people who tell ME I shouldn't have guns in MY house.

br0kenrabbit

I would have to totally agree with you.

I wasnt living in the US when this happend, We lived in an affluent neigborhood and had a big yard, the closest people wouldnt have heard us if they were inside their homes. Weeks before our home got broken into. A house in the same neigborhood got broken into and a maid and a security guard were killed, Supposedly the maid was raped. no one else was in the house at the moment but thieves in this country werent known for just breaking and entering. They would usualy do other things given the oportunity. AlthoughI didnt see them with the gun in their hands theydid seem to be going for us. as there were three other ways they could have left the house through the kitchen If they wanted to leave. besides they broke in through a side door to the kitchen wich they could have tried to go out from. If in fact they were fleeing.

At the time I didnt know that I had hit one of them and we only found the blood the next day. I didnt feel wierd about It until I heard that one of the guys had died. but then again Im pretty sure that If we wouldnt have been able to scare them off our fates would have been very different.

The way I see It I succesfully warded off an attack and protected my loved ones and home. For thatI feel no regret. Plus the person who died would have lived had he seeked medical attention. My guess is he did not for fear of getting caught.

If society had a solid education system and that we don't depend on our leaders for education. In America, the education system is dumbed down so much it's practically one of the most avoided countries if people wanted to go there to study; foreign exchange students. People kill people and guns help kill people. Reporter: Mr. President, why did you have a meeting with Dick Cheney the day before 9/11 and you said that the conversation is not to be recorded and no one else is permitted? Reporter: Mr. President, where were you minutes after 9/11? Also, out of all the years, months, days why did Dick Cheney ONLY took control of the air command centre which controls all the fighter jets, specifically the ones near New York in the morning of 9/11? Reporter: Mr. President, why did the official US report did not mentioned the building that collapsed near 9/11? It collapsed in a pancake style just like 9/11 WTC but it only had fire burning on two floors and the building was about 50 floors high? Reporter: Mr. President, WTC was also structed to resist impacts like two to three planes being launched into the WTC from complete collapse, yet the tower collapsed in a pan-cake style which is most likely done only by demolitions? Reporter: Mr. President, How do you comment on the fact that metal parts that is way hotter then jetfuel is found at the rubbles of WTC? Reporter: Mr. President, Why did the reports state that all the accusations regarding the fact that WTC was demolitioned to the ground was false? and that all those reports was done by people very close or simply have ties to the government? Reporter: Mr. President, Why did you tell the CIA and all agencies to back-off from investigating their own government? Reporter: Mr. President, Why did you have the Iraq invasion plans on your desk the day before 9/11?

:| Seriously? Anyway, force must be met with equal force. You don't bring fists to a sword fight and you don't bring a sword to a gun fight.

VoodooGamer

You didn't read what I said, I said people should only ever fight with fists, the problem is, they are too pathetic and weak to learn how, so they need pathetic weapons like guns to make up for their obvious failures.

I'm sorry, but you're in no position to call anyone pathetic and weak.

According to what? Anyone who needs guns is pathetic and weak. It's simple fact. Any time I see people screaming that guns are necessary, I think 3 things, A. They must be packing nothing in their pants, B. They must really fail at life, and C. They must be beyond useless.

This, in this thread where i have already heard many outlandish comments, is probably the most despicable thing I have read in a long time. You have absolutely no value for human life, and it is people like you who shouldn't have guns. You talk of being able to kill a person and not lose any sleep over it, and compare a human to being just a lifeless target. I have read what has happened to you in your past, but from what you have said, i would put you below some of the people described as criminals in this thread.

It's a known fact that some people are weaker than others, but to demand that everyone should fight hand to hand is a bit outlandish. As a woman I don't even want to give a threatening person the chance to get near me because I know that my odds of winning, or even surviving a fight with a man are quite slim. Even with other weapons! Yes, I have a stun gun, but I have to get within an arms reach to use it. Yes, I can swing a baseball bat, but I have to get within arms reach. This is why I specifically have a stainless steel gun. I want there to be zero doubt whether or not it's a real gun so that seeing it is a deterrent. And be honest, which would scare you more, a woman with her keys between her finger, or a woman who pulls a pistol out of her purse? I don't want to have to shoot it, but I will if necessary.

When two guys are breaking into your house, you don't try to play hero and shoot them, you get out of your house and called the cops. If he had done that, then the cops could have possibly came and arrested them while they were in his place, and then they wouldn't have been able to break into the other woman's place later.

No physical object is more valuable than a human life, not even a criminal's life. Just let them take what they want and hope the cops come is the best decision.

This is my theory on gun ownership-

I could care less. Own as many as you want. However, it's YOUR responsibility to keep it locked up very tight. If your kid grabs it and kills himself or brings it to school I want YOU in jail for a veryyy long time.

Force still must be met with equal force. Just because it's a fist fight, doesn't mean it's fair. A 90 year old grandma is not going to fair well against a 20 year old meth head. Leave the cauliflower ear to GSP.

No one has a right to steal your belongings. A person that comes into your house, trespasses on your property with the intent of taking your things and harming you deserves whatever fate comes to him. His life is not worth more than the law against theft, and his life is certainly not worth more than your own.

So learn how to temporarily disable the criminal (NOT KILL) who is attempting to steal your belongings without needing a gun. Guns are for pathetic people, even a stun gun would show some inner strength, and wouldn't kill the robber, guns are for morons who think human life isn't a good thing, but need point and click kill devices to demonstrate as such.

Sorry, but if someone broke into my house with a machete, I'm not gonna say. 'Hey look, this guy doesn't have a gun. I'll go into the kitchen and we can have a good ol' fasion knife fight!" Most gun owners put their safety as a higher priority than their egos. p.s. All the fighting skills in the world isn't going to help you dodge bullets like in the matrix.

Common sense? Hmmm...let's see. The story clearly describes me as being upstairs (at the top of the steps). The story also clearly describes me going directly from stepping out of the shower the running acoss the hall and getting a gun.

Common sense would therefore indicate that I would have had a drop of at least from the second story from a window onto the hard pavement below, naked.

Screw that I'm shooting somebody.

I was speaking for myself. Not the use of the pronoun "I". Furthermore, I'm not defending owning a gun; it's my right. So when your house gets broken into, you better hope that they don't have a gun. As for me, I know that I can take care of myself unless they attack me with a rocket launcher. What's funny to me is that I view your opinion as being more aggressive than mine.

Well he's right you know. Shooting someone, or anything for that matter doesnt really have a certain feeling to it. All you do is pull the trigger and feel the gun kick back, doesnt matter what you shoot thats not going to change. Now whats different about shooting an actual human is the emotions that are tied to it. He never said he didnt care if he shot someone, but was rather talking about the general feeling of shooting; you assumed that he was being emotionless. But what he said was really true. The physical feeling of shooting a gun is the same no matter what you shoot at, the difference just lies in the emotions that come into play depending on what you shoot.

The one problem I have, is when a mentally unfit person, ventures somewhere such as onto a property without realising where they are or what they're doing, you can still put a bullet between their eyes if you feel threatened. I guess I'm for the right to carry in the USA now, I mean guns are SO wide spread that there is no way to contain guns from criminals, and so the public probably should have the option to be able to defend themselves with equal force. However, I shudder when I think of some of the mix ups and killings that have happened in the past and I'm glad we don't have the right to firearms here in the UK.

I do believe that once a person breaks into your house you should have the right to kill them, if you're into that kind of thing. Personally I'd much rather cause them some kind lifelong bodily damage which doesn't kill them. Something which would make their whole life much harder and a total misery, like severing all their limbs or something like that. Why kill them when you can make them suffer for longer.

This is my theory on gun ownership-

I could care less. Own as many as you want. However, it's YOUR responsibility to keep it locked up very tight. If your kid grabs it and kills himself or brings it to school I want YOU in jail for a veryyy long time.

true. most people end up getting hurt from the gun anyway. the chances of a home invasion are small

I like being able to have a gun in case of home invasions and self defense. However there are a ton of people that have guns that should not whatsoever be able to ever ever possess them. Guns are just too easy for some people to get.

People keeping guns in their house? Ah... only in America! And this is why there is so many crimes in America!

If someone breaks into my house, I'll be VERY VERY violent! Beat the crap out of him and call the police.

The good thing about the UK is that, We don't have guns and neither do 99% of criminals. Most of our criminals are just petty thieves who will just ask you for your valuable stuff using no weapon. But if you stand up to them they will most likely leave you alone. The worst I think that could possibly happen is that you get confronted by a gang of youths with a knife. And even then I doubt they would actually use it. About house breaking's In the UK, If a criminaltries to burgleyou,Just hearing your footsteps is enough to scare them away. When someone is trying to rob items from your house they generally don't want to have a violent confrontation with you (Last thing they would want) they just want to get the stuff and go as quick as possible.

As a Brit and european, I'm reading some of your guys posts and it disturbs me. Howyou can surport guns is just beyond me,No one shouldhave another persons life in thier hands even if they are trying to rob you, Just phone the cops or use a non lethal weapon insteadBut then again you guys are from a country which is rife with guns and stupid people, which can't be a good combo.

No, people carry guns on streets. You, as an American, look at the gun at home and think "Why not I carry this out there" and that how all chaos starts...

I agree, people who post here is disturbing who are Americans who own guns at their homes which they shouldn't. I remember in Call of Duty forums, bunch of Americans posted photos of their guns - As a British, that scared me. :?

People shouldn't have guns at all unless they have a license. I doubt America will use the license, maybe they just giving them out for nothing... :? Scary stuff.

That's not true at all. Also, our "liscense" to own firearms is the 2nd amendment.

You seem very knowledgeable about America and its culture. I'm curious in where you learned all of this.

I like the situation in the UK. You very rarely hear about gun crime, infact i live in the city with the most guncrime in the UK and ive never seen or heard someone with one. Of course it gets replaced with knives insteed but it is alot harder to stab someone than shootinging someone.

Gun control would take most guns off the hands of criminals as well, so neither person has to worry about guns. Use a knife or a baseball bat or something.

It just seems like guns do more harm than good.

Lack common sense? You can use the phone of a neighbor to call 911. it doesn't have to be your own phone.

br0kenrabbit

Common sense? Hmmm...let's see. The story clearly describes me as being upstairs (at the top of the steps). The story also clearly describes me going directly from stepping out of the shower the running acoss the hall and getting a gun.

Common sense would therefore indicate that I would have had a drop of at least from the second story from a window onto the hard pavement below, naked.

Screw that I'm shooting somebody.

That also doesn't even take in consideration of the possibility of having a family in the home, cant take any chances in not being armed.
