I my Canadian and American history classes (yeah I'm taking both) there have been countless chances were they very easily could just had a small war and got all of Canada. For once for example they had 30 000 troops in the Oregon Territory and told Canada up to 54 40 (longitude latitude) of BC was theres. But they didn't want to fight a milita and a few redcoats.

I guess my point is that Canada is lucky (thankfully) to be a country today and wonder how Americans feel about not having Canada part of their country

Canada exists due to the whims of the Americans that chose not to conquer it, and you say it's America that failed back in the day?

you don't know American history then.... it's hilarious hearing about America's military prowess then to read on America's early fights (after the war for independence) and seeing US fall flat on it's face. .

I'm talking about times we've had the military strength to take Canada, as per the OP. I know about the failed expeditions of the Revolution to take Canada.

I'm not sure we really care that much about Canada. Now a days we don't have any desire to take you over, but we most certainly weren't the greatest army back in the day. It was more or less a fluke that we won the Revolutionary War.

An early American politician, I'm not sure who it was (might have been John Adams) once said on the topic of America conquering Canada (I'm paraphrasing), "Why climb the tree to get the apple, when you can wait for the apple to drop to your feet?"

Fighting Canada would have meant fighting England. Canada is England's biotch and if someone messes with them England would have to throw down.

There's your first mistake. You don't honestly believe that you're being told the whole truth in the classes you're taking do you? I didn't learn about American history until I started doing my own research, and not just reading what I was told to read. For instance - did you know that there were black plantation owners - who owned slaves? I bet they censored that out of your classes too.

so you are criticizing the US for teaching this subject, and then you criticize Americans b/c it actually wasnt covered in depth? okay... Anyway, US history classes cover certain areas very thoroughly. Pre-history, Rome, and Greece are covered. Of course, the revolutionary war and civil war are covered extensively. Also, my senior year, I took western civ which covered European history from after the fall of Rome until the Cold War... great class

The Civil War is not covered....... at all. The build up to the war? Yes. Reconstruction? Hell yes. The War itself? Not even talked about. I remember we skipped 1861-1865 in my AP US History class in High School.

Two letters, UK: they were the force back in the day and owned Canada.

Though we could of had Mexico after the Mexican America war (was actually discussed/debated), but racial beliefs stopped that from happening.

Yeah I've literally never heard of that happening. Every single American History class I've ever taken at least alluded to the Civil War at various points in the course, and those classes that covered a period of time that intersected with the Civil War went into it in some heavy detail.

Canada was a province of the most powerful country in the world back in the day - England. The US was a fledling country that had neither the military nor the infrastructure to oppose England in a prolonged confrontation. I don't think Canada ever would have fallen to american forces unless England decided to abandon their investment.

Honestly I could care less about Canada and I assume most Americans feel the same too. They only have like 5 great cities, the majority of it is just nothing. The US has a city with 500K plus people and different cultures in almost every state. Also its freekin cold there. Most of Canada is a carbon copy of the worst states in the US. Cold and barren.
In the US we have palm trees, skyscrapers, beaches, multiple mountain ranges, the grand canyon, and places where its 75 degrees in christmas, and every single culture and race in the entire world. Can canada say any of that? No, they just have good weed, but so do we, especially in states where there medicinal MJ.

Toronto however is one of the best cities in the entire world.

Them yankees stole Torontos fire engine...............so we burned down the white house. Fair trade. Anyways theres a bunch of really funny stories of "battles" in the war of 1812, one was the US went to take a town and th local garrison took the train to the next town. So the US soldiers didn't want to walk alway the way to the next town get the train and went back across the border! LOL...... Theres really funny storys on both sides.

i have to agree with u. most of the country are open land and very few big citys.

i know a girl i talk to and she lives in the middle of no where.

the town is so small that mostly everyone knows every body and knows what happens to one family.

she told me the nearest towns and citys are about 20miles+ away.

Canada has really no real value but for mining or and commodities.

but in the filp side if the US do take over the Canada we will gain alot more land to build new citys or send people ( like pedos) to the middle of no where to live.

but in the same time that will cost us more tax money to just maintain the states.

After reading this thread I have lost a little faith in humanity. @Pariahdox Canada does in fact have Skyscrapers, and mountain ranges, and oh yeah the most surprising thing about Canada, we have beaches too!
