[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"][QUOTE="kuraimen"] So telling me to go read history is your idea of a historically written basis to your claims? lol OMG, you're quickly falling into the first grader category of historical analysis.kuraimen

I already gave you one major difference several times. You have not provided any counter to that. Which means you don't have one. So instead you just try to insult me. What ever level you want to insult me with......you can't reach yourself so it's more an insult toward yourself not that I think you'll see that.

I already answered your "major difference" but I guess you failed to comprehend yet again which is not surprising at all. I find it insulting that your debating tactics amount to telling me to go read history and look at a map when you can't even read a link a provided properly. Debating with you is normally insulting to general intelligence.

No you didn't. You provided a link to an editorial about a book. Which I said isn't sufficient. You did not address the differences. In fact...you addressed nothing. And Fidoism...Fergie? Have I offended you?:(

I like how this thread ends up being ignorant on two points that should make it so no one could possibly agree. Saying all Iraqi's live in mud huts and are barbariands, while claiming the US lost after they displaced the prevous regime, installed a new one, and killed the terrorist leader of Al Qaeda (thus accomplishing all the primary objectives). Yep, total loss.

Lets see something, the americans could have easly won this war. They should just bomb every Muslim country, starting on Morroco and ending on Mexico, for example. Cause muslims are people that at a very young age are taught to make bombs with just a bottle of whiskey and a matchbox, do ya get me? They are only happy when they are blowing things up. A muslim kid that by the age of 15 hadnt blowed up something is someone who is disrespecting Buddha or whatever. Some gypsy stole my son lunchbox back at school the other day, how can people want world peace when this **** keeps happening? This is also USA military force fault too. I salute them and all but i was in vietnam and i know how this kind of stuff works. Cause many times, on the eve of a battle ( i saw this, nobody told me) there were guys that would just put garlic on their, lets say ass, cause this are the way things are ya know. A garlic up your ass gives you fever, and on the next day there were like " Captain iv got an hugh fever i cant go to battle" and i that never put anything on my ass had to go. So military people respect and all, but you dont fool me. I could have just got shot cause iv never put anything on my ass, not garlic not anything. Thats all i have to say about this war.Drakes_Fortune

lol omg it was not an editorial about a book... the only things it mentioned about the book were mainly on the first couple of paragraphs as an introduction to an idea... and I answered to your claims even before I provided the link... lol you sure are something else.

I'm tired of hearing all this crap about oil. If we are getting all of this oil seccretly from Iraq, then why the hell do gas prices keep going up?

sherman-tank1

For one thing it's not like we can just pack the oil up in suitcases and ship it off. Another thing it's not about relieving the price you pay at the pump, but rather about making sure we have secure access to the oil. Thirdly oil prices are pretty much dictated by OPEC, so talk to them.

This is the same forum where a guy called the US terrorists for dropping the Atom bomb in WWII and ending the war, and where another guy talked about how awesome being Vegan while insulting everyone else was. These threads were some of the most replied topics ever.

Because we've never had secure access to it. That will change now, perhaps. But even if we have ultimately failed in that goal I do not doubt for one second that that was one of the motivations for going into Iraq. Not going to say it was the sole reason, but it was a reason. The US doesn't act out of altruism in such operations. We're not going to do anything that doesn't aid our national interests. I don't know of any country that would.

You know the war ended a long long time ago and the objectives were achieved? Trolling now no?LJS9502_basic

Correction, the invasion ended a long time ago, the war is ongoing, or was ongoing uintil the US left. The Invasion was successful in it's objectives, but has the occupation been a success? only time will tell

Was there even an objective? Dont know if you can classify this as a win/lose scenario. I would consider the war a loss in the sense that we shouldnt have gone to war.

That Iraq's production had lessened is irrlevant to the fact that Iraq still has oil. Lots of it. Production can be restarted.

What nonsense. Are you seriously buying that 'non-combat troops' nonsense? EVERY soldier is a combat soldier. The war in Iraq has been ongoing from day one til the day we left. Iraqis and Coalition troops died in FIREFIGHTS every. single. day.

Saddam had also announced that he was going to start trading in Euros, which would cost the USA big time because the dollar is so weak.

What the f*ck are you talking about? Do you even know? The war itself ended when the Iraq government fell. The US was NO LONGER attacking the Iraq military. Talk about nonsense. Staying to help out the new government does not mean one is engaging in war.

I was in the Army and all over in the Middle East for 3 years of the war...I seen alot of things change for the better just by our presence being there...few things feel as good as a mother and 4 kids coming up to you, struggling to speak your language, telling you that they are glad your here to help and thanking you for all youve done...I truely believe that it wasnt about "winning" it was about change and there was a lot of that IMO

That Iraq's production had lessened is irrlevant to the fact that Iraq still has oil. Lots of it. Production can be restarted.

worlock77

Then I guess I'll have to ask for your evidence that since the war more oil has been imported to the US.

You're asking for evidence of a claim that I never made? Seriously?

Then you were arguing Iraq for oil because ???

Securing access to =/= importing more at this moment.

Like I pointed out before: that we may have failed in that goal does not mean that it was not a goal. We didn't invade Iraq just because Shurb wanted to one-up daddy. This country does nothing without considering its national interests (nor would I expect otherwise).

That may be true but on the other hand it does tend to go down the murky path of assumption as well.

[QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] No the US was no longer at war with Iraq. You are wrong.LJS9502_basic

What nonsense. Are you seriously buying that 'non-combat troops' nonsense? EVERY soldier is a combat soldier. The war in Iraq has been ongoing from day one til the day we left. Iraqis and Coalition troops died in FIREFIGHTS every. single. day.

What the f*ck are you talking about? Do you even know? The war itself ended when the Iraq government fell. The US was NO LONGER attacking the Iraq military. Talk about nonsense. Staying to help out the new government does not mean one is engaging in war.

I'm sorry, you're telling me that USA forces are engaged with militia on a daily basis but that's NOT A WAR? Are you serious? "We're not at war, we're just armed soldier who go out on patrol every day and engage in firefights with a hostile enemy. Occasionally we call in air strikes. Totally not a war, though." Please...

The war was with the Hussein government. That means armed conflict to achieve objectives. They toppled the government. A new government is in place...the US is not engaged in war with this new government. Some insurgents hitting areas and needing to be dealt with is not the same as the war. Period. The US Congress declares war. Show me where war was declared on the insurgents.

Well, when you use logic then yeah, but if you just smack your head against concrete until it stops working then what you say is clearly wrong.

You do know the difference between a war between two combatants and insurgents attacking posts/soldiers/military vehicles? Maybe not.

What babble is this? You have to be engaged in a conflict with a GOVERNMENT for it to be a war?

Yeah, asymmetric warfare is a myth, just like gravity and unsalted peanut butter. :P
