Now listening to 'I Apologize' by Husker Du

Another great little pop song, only given a little makeover by the Huskers :P

New Day Rising is such an incredible album...I dunno whether it or Zen Arcade are my favourites, or Flip Your Wig...

Great band all the same :D

zepman71

Zen Arcade was the last real hardcore album by the Huskers, so it's automatically better.

Nothing wrong with Flip Your Wig, though.

No love for New Day Rising? :(

I'd say its a tie between Zen Arcade and NDR

Both albums are amazing and are definitely up their with SST's best along with Meat Puppets II, Double Nickels on the Dime and Damaged.

Something's Wrong - The Jesus and Mary Chain

From the album Psychocandy, it was later re-written as Happy When It Rains on the album Darklands. Anyone else like The Jesus and Mary Chain?

Samwel_X

Thats my favourite song on Psychocandy

I've only got that album, but it is amazing

I've always thought of them as the Ramones only even louder :P Great pop music played with chainsaws

I'd venture to say the rest of the album is pretty solid.

Black Flag - My War.

The whole album, not just the song. All of this discussion about SST has, once again, inspired me to listen to something. It's Black Flag's best album, and anybody who says otherwise is wrong.

I'm very much a fan of the album Darklands, which was the follow up to Psychocandy, but after that everything just sort of falls off. Which is a shame, but after Psychocandy the feedback and stuff was cleared up, and some of the unique sound was lost. I feel it was for the worse.

Damaged was essentially a straight-up hardcore album, whereas My War was much sludgier and jazzier.

It was released in 2005, I think. I'm pretty sure you could find it if you just dig around. Especially online. Just google it or go out and check your local record stores. You'd most likely find it in the Elecctronic section if you go somewhere like FYE.

He might be able to find Discovery. It's an oldie, but a goodie. Just check the Electronic section of the local record stores. If all else fails, the internets are your friend.

I love The Holy Bible, but again, its the only album I have by the Manics

I used to listen to it last year when I was in a bad mood, so I can't really listen to it now unless I'm in a certain mood

4st 7lbs is a chilling song as well - probably my favourite track on the album, so powerful

I don't know if you are aware of the Manics' history, but before Ritchy (who wrote most of the songs) disappeared they were pretty good. I like the albums before Holy Bible, and I like the one after which was the first without Ritchy but was made up of his material. After that they became sort of middle of the road.

I saw them live as a three piece about 7 years ago with the release of Know Your Enemy... and their current material at that point was pretty poor.

Anyway, Holy Bible is the best album of theirs by quite a long way, but "Everything Must Go" which was after Holy bible is worth a look, it is lighter, but has some great songs on it.

Sunday Morning - ModWheelMood

This is from the second Pearls to Pigs EP. While I find the quality of the music to be very mixed, when it is good it is very good. I thought the first two volumes of Pearls to Pigs were excellent, so naturally the third volume was very disappointing. Anyone else a heard ModWheelMood?

Im listening to Jay-Z's December 4th remixed by Danger Mouse with samples of The Beatles' Mother Nature's Son.

Here's a youtube link to the song.

Being mixed with Mother Nature's son gives it a totally different feel. Check it out if you're a fan of either.

Good song, but even better video. If anyone hasn't seen it, it is directed by Michael Moore. Basically RATM plays in front of the New York Stock Exchange and causes a scene. Pretty cool.

Destroying Angels - Bohren and Der Club of Gore Strange music, I'm not completely sure I love it myself. It's a sort of doom jazz, a very depressing and mellow feel behind a beautiful melody. Still, it's worth checking out for jazz fans interested in something a bit different.

She Is Everything (Live) - Spock's Beard

I'm trying out some new music today as recommended by Film-Guy. The song is decent, but it's a bit slow for my tastes and too dependent on the guitar but it has excelent piano melodies.
