I think its ok for really hard working immigrants to come in. But not by the boat loads. There should be a screening period or some kind of regulations to keep only the hard working contributor to society immigrants coming in. As long as they are working hard to become a citizen and a good one at that then they are just as worthy of living here as any other American imo. Not a fan of the immigrants that come and get invloved with all types of crime and get welfare.

It's unfortunate that conditions in their home country are so severe and that immigration requirements are so screwed up that they have to resort to breaking the law to come find a better life. The system should be revamped and current immigrants in here illegally should be given the chance to learn English (if applicable) in order to become tax-paying citizens.

There's prerequisites for becoming an immigrant?
I'm not sure how anyone can actually be in favor of illegal immigration. It's just a huge slap int he face to those that actually immigrated here legally. I wouldn't consider them a danger to society, but the law is the law.Toxic-SeahorsePrecisely why nobody is in favor of illegal immigration, except the people who hire illegal immigrants for pennies an hour.

No one is "in favor" of illegal immigration, save for those who hire illegals for near slave wages, some of us just don't see it as a big deal.
It shouldn't be such a nightmare to get in to the country legally. Reform is needed. Let those that are already in stay but make them pay a MUCH higher tax rate for the next decade or so to make up for the fact they snuck in illegaly, or give them the option to serve in the military for a few years to make up for it. Something along those lines. If they have a problem with that then they can have a free bus ride to the border.Â
They are not helping. It's not 1910 anymore, we don't need immigrants. At this point they are a detriment.
In my country, they are a plague.
Many of them are criminals, and at about 90% of the time they don't pay taxes and their existence is ignored.
They also occupy many job places, because they ask way fewer money than the locals. On many cases, they are being used and they aren't paid at all.
It isn't their fault though. They are just searching for a better life.
The goverment must always be on its guard and protect the borders,to prevent any new ones from coming.

Yes I agree, but they would probably bring workers in if there were no illegals, or develop machines for it.
Ever seen one of these?

They hire illegals because no one else is willing to do the work for such small wages (not even minimum) and giant threshers aren't suited for small fruits and veggies (not to mention that most common fruits grown on trees, which you can't thresh anyway).
The problem of illegal immigration is one that is easily solved. Make all immigration legal.

I dunno, I feel that so long as they can support themselves and pay the rent, people should be free to live whereever they choose. There's practical considerations of course, so this is an unachievable ideal in many situations, but it's the direction we should move towards.
Â
With globalisation, money can go anywhere. You can use the money you made in America to set up factories in Vietnam. I feel people should have much the same freedom. If you can take your wealth to any country and give the job to the lowest bidder, workers should be able to take their labor to any country and sell that to the highest bidder.Â
Â
Consider the situation: As a US citizen, I can move thousands of miles, say from the east coast, from Maine or Vermont, all the way down to Southern California to take a job. Some poor Mexican maybe 5 miles south of the border can't take the same job.
Â
In an ideal world, all these borders should go the way of the Berlin wall.

Weak, let the market work. Prices shouldn't be an excuse for allowing people to break the law.[QUOTE="worlock77"][QUOTE="GOGOGOGURT"]

Im surprised a lot of you dont seem to care that illegal immigrants arent paying taxes. Capitan_KidThey do pay some taxes.
gotta have somebody working on the farms. Citizens won't do it.
I remember they passed some legislation banning the employment of illegals somewhere in the south and tons of farmers went out of business because they had no workers. This is during high rates of employment too! That's right, U.S. citizens would rather be unemployed then make minimum wage working in the field.

Certainly not in the midwest. I see very few non-white people working on farms here.gotta have somebody working on the farms. Citizens won't do it.

Many of them risked their lives to get here and may never see their families again because of it, in short they sacrificed a lot in the name of chasing a better life that they believe only America could provide. They deserve better than the semi-derogatory term illegal.
But that's exactly what they are. They broke the law and immigrated illegally. They're illegal immigrants. I sympathize with them and I know they're just looking for a better life, but the law is the law. We can't just let anybody come in that wants to.Many of them risked their lives to get here and may never see their families again because of it, in short they sacrificed a lot in the name of chasing a better life that they believe only America could provide.
