The 16 states that have passed "Stand Your Ground" laws beg to differ with you... :|

I have plenty of bats from my baseball days and a modest sword collection, most of them full-tangand fully sharpened.
Even if you see someone break into you house its not like you can shoot them unless the attempt to harm you.WhenPicklezFlyAnd they probably won't attempt to harm you if you have a shotgun and they have a pistol. Simple, really.

**EDIT: Assume the intruder has a pistol.**
Just curious. This is mine:
stupiddk
What is that? A Charles Daly, Mossberg, Remington, Stoeger? I own a Remington 870, 12G, 20" 8 shot. Loaded with 4 buck and 00 Buck. I am pretty sure it will stop the BG.
It's a Mossberg 930 SPX Autoloader 12ga. 7+1 rounds on an 18.5" barrel. Ghost reticle rear sight on a picatinny rail and a red fibre optic front sight. It brings the pain.
[QUOTE="Jaguar_Shade"]I'd post a picture of my shotgun, but merely showing people it is a war crime, it's just THAT powerful.luamhtrad
 Not fair. I showed you mine and I'm pretty sure it's in the Geneva Convention (look it up) that you now have to show me yours.
That doesn't apply to minors you perv! *storms off*[QUOTE="luamhtrad"][QUOTE="Jaguar_Shade"]I'd post a picture of my shotgun, but merely showing people it is a war crime, it's just THAT powerful.Jaguar_Shade

That doesn't apply to minors you perv! *storms off*Ahh... Australians. Complete with their "overreact to everything" mentality. ;)
That's only Australian politicians, otherwise Australian people would look at the apocolypse and take a drink from their beer. "nah mate, she'll be right, good as gold"Jaguar_Shade
If you're a minor, then you shouldn't be drinking. Especially when armed with such a powerful shotgun...8)
Gun control FTW!
Seriously though, the Founding Fathers wanted a 'well-regulated militia,' not a roving band od Libertarian rednecks trying to 'overthrow' the government.
(I'm referring of course to the incident where that guy shot those police because he wanted to 'take back the White House' to prevent Obama from 'taking his guns').
Hot-Tamale
Yeah, lets just forget about "The right of the PEOPLE to bare arms", probably just a typo, they meant to say the right of the militia. Those silly Founding Fathers always making mistakes.(also nice ad homium attack on Libertarians. Using the actions of one idiot to judge a whole political point of view, that is a great way to debate.)
You dont need a gun. Unless your a gangster.WhenPicklezFly
Um, No, Our family owned a good amount of guns and no one in our family is a gangster.
I would say a pistol over a shotgun because it would take too long to reload a shotgun.RenegadePatriot
It depends on the shotgun. It also depends on the capacity and whether or not you have a speed loader. Also, the pistol could be a revolver which takes considerably longer to load than a semi-automatic. Your argument fails.
I would say a pistol over a shotgun because it would take too long to reload a shotgun.RenegadePatriotWhy would you have to reload? It's one guy.

My favourite weapon of choice is the Eldar shuriken pistol.
Of course, the main problem is that when fire it, there's going to be a lot of holes in the house.... a lot.

aliblabla2007
Meh. Shurikens don't have a lot of penetrating power. It might be more effective as a wall decorating gun. ;)
Baseball bat would be best. The way the court systems work nowadays, you'd be better off not using a gun, because if they had the right lawyer you could end up with all sorts of crazy charges like attempted murder and crap. The govt is whack like that. I'd prefer to use this if I had to pick anything.
.... No because we don't have guns rampant here like you do. THe only guns i have ever seen in my life are those on the waist of a police officer where they belong.
And you call me a criminal because i don't want to live in America where the murder rate in every city is in the triple digits, real adult like.

Your country may not have as many guns as the US, but you still have crime. To think that you are somehow immune from crime being perpetrated against you in the form of a home invasion is just ignorant. The police are a reactionary force. Very few home invaders are caught in the act by police.
I asked if you were a criminal because it's the only reason I could think of to not live in the US based solely on this thread. I am glad that you had to bring discrimination and disdain into the conversation. You could have justsaid nothing.

Who is calling you a criminal? Also the murder rate in every city is no where near the triple digits, the murder rate for Tampa is 7.5, and DC has 29.1 (fun fact DC has the toughtest gun laws in the nation, IIRC it still hasa total ban on handguns). For the nation the murder rate is 7.
In the state where I live you don't have to try to get away, or letthe criminals try to run. That is how the old law worked. Now, if I am threatened or attacked in my home I have the right to use deadly force without fear of prosecution or civil suit. I can actually shoot a person through the door if they are breaking in. Huff
Same here. Shoot first, don't get prosecuted later.
So the last option... yeah.
I don't own a gun because I live in Iowa. There's nothing here. People get drunk a whole lot and that's about it.
Don't be biased with your poll. Some people have a weapon. That's fine for them and I support that, but I don't personally feel its necessary for where I live.
You've posted that gun like loads of times on here =_='' And I'm going to ignore the edit since burglars in the UK aren't usually armed. I'd go with a bat but I have a mini-fire extinguisher in my room that does the job fine :) tofu-lion91
So, you've posted your clone pics a ton of times too. Is there a limit on pic postings that I am not aware of? Also, armed robberies do happen in the UK especially in Manchester. Feel fortunate to live in a safe area, but everything's possible. Plan for the worst as they say.
