Mine, of course, is:

I'm not saying that this is the best album ever made (wouldn't make that claim about any album TBH) but it is definitely my personal #1 because it was the one that made me a fan of Madonna. I was actually buying this album for my Mom's birthday and I listened to it out of curiosity and was instantly hooked. The first reason for this is that the music is just so beautiful and hypnotic: its sound is very ethereal and its soundscapes are immensely rich and textured and are perfectly complimented by incredibly strong, dreamy melodies. This is the kind of album that sounds like the elements: much of it sounds like you're being submerged into some gorgeous underwater vista and other parts sound like you're flying through a beautiful sky. The album also has alot of earthy moments and many of the songs have a kind of dark eerie beauty about them like Frozen or Mer Girl or Skin. Furthermore, her vocal tone is extremely warm and mature, which is fitting for an album with a much wiser tone than some of her others. Along with Erotica and Like A Prayer, this album is one of her most compelling lyrically and only occasionally descends into lyrical triteness. The album definitely has spiritual mystical vibes to it, but it's not preachy. It's more introspective than anything.

I think there is a reason that people who are not typically fans of Madonna enjoy this album. Not only it is a pop cl@ssic, but there's a certain deep ambient quality to it that people who couldn't get into any of her other musical phases can appreciate. I wish she would make another serious album like this and get off the "I just want to dance!" train that she's been on ever since American Life alienated the listening public.

Anyway, what's your favorite album?

Probably Spiritual Healing by Death.

It's my favourite Death album, and in my opinion one of the best death metal albums ever - it's also one of the few albums that I can listen to without skipping a single song (another being Reign In Blood).

Haha, I like the contrast going on here.

This is a reaaaally hard question....Maybe Out come the wolves by Rancid, purely because it was the first record that got me into punk. Just reminds me of sitting in the park with friends while singing along to it, aaah....

Still the same one, Mutter by Rammstein:

All of the songs on this album are great (to me) and the album has no fillers. Something that I have found in their other albums.

It's not an album that I still listen to (I dont listen to Scorpions a lot nowadays anyway) but it's an album that I really liked at the time. I dont think I have liked an album as much as this one.

Known songs from it are "Holiday" and "Always Somewhere". At least here in Greece.

Oh and as for the reason why I like it, I like the vocals a lot. They remind me of the live vocals in Tokyo Tapes (released one year before Lovedrive, from their Japan tour in 1978). Tokyo Tapes is also a great live album which I have listened to countless times but Lovedrive has a more laid-back/carefree feel to it. Also, I first listened to it one summer and it always reminds me of summer vacation, the beach etc.

Well, it changes from time to time, but the one I've been listening to a lot lately is Sung Tongs by Animal Collective:

It's just a fun album and I space out listenting to it. I don't know anything else that sounds quite like it.

It's a tough choice between these two:

Californication

Wasting Light

Both albums have an incredibly strong set of tracks and sound amazing.

"The Blackening" by Machine Head It is brutal and extremely memorable, something I have had a hard time finding in extreme metal. It just comes together as a complete work unlike any other record I've heard. "Now I Lay Thee Down" is my favorite song. However, I just got into Vader, and their very first studio album is very impressive. I'm very optimistic about where it will all go.

Nice choice :P

This is one first one to come to mind - I remember the spring/summer of 2000 when I got this me and my best friend listened to this album over and over while we played Magic: The Gathering and NFL Blitz and Perfect Dark.

I really like this album as well - very melodic without sacrificing the intensity of the music. Beats Dissection IMO.

My personal favorite album is.... Feels like I have yet to hear better death metal than what's on this album.

One of thse two, can't decide which:

Everything Is Fire

chessmaster1989

This kid.

This album. Not only does it have one of the best home-finished productions ever, it has some of the most intensely technical and improvisational songwriting in all of metal. The jazz element isn't blatantly obvious, but its pretty apparent once you listen for it. Major 7ths are a huge deal, the use of "atmospheric" cymbals, linear song structures, etc.

The album has an extremely nihilistic, but very positive message too, and its one that really isn't explored often in metal. Essentially the message is an obvious but important one that fits so well with how fluid and dynamic the music is (thanks to linear songwriting techniques). One thing that puts off some listeners is the dense layering of the instruments. Loops are used pretty often and create an almost noise level of sound density.

It's rivaled by a few other albums: Fas by Deathspell Omega, Gigan's The Order Of The False Eye, Mitochondrion's Archaeaeon, and even to an extent this year's Flourishing - The Sum Of All Fossils. However it's one I always go back to and it remains just as powerful today as it did two years ago. Also if you listen to the album while tripping it is absolutely insane. :P

I've always liked Queen II by Queen. Even though it was one of their worst selling albums, I treasure it.

Just the lyrics and the music of its time... Anyone that hasn't listen to March of the Black Queen, youtube right now.

I also like Welcome To My Nightmare by Alice Cooper. The album kind of takes you somewhere... It's best listened to in a pitch black room. It's not scary, just...off.

PainKiller by Judas Priest is another great one. Love every song on the album.

Megadeth CountDown to Extinction is great too.

All these are my favorites.

The letters NIN set against a blue background with black, organic-looking outcroppings of black.

Color-reversed image of a band playing on a studio.

A nude male infant swimming in blue tinted water toward a dollar bill which is attached to a string.

A small grey equilateral and hollow triangle sits slightly above the centre of an opaque black image. A perfectly straight light-grey line enters from the middle of the left edge of the image, and is angled slightly upward to meet the left side of the triangle. Inside the triangle the grey line expands slightly, fading to black as it reaches the centre. On the right side of the triangle a thick bar composed of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet angles downward to the middle right edge of the image.

A landscape monochrome photograph of U2 in the desert sits in the center of a black background. U2 are standing on the left half of the photograph, with a mountain range on the right half. Tiny gold text reading

A square montage of square photographs arranged in a 4 by 4 grid. The photographs are mostly blue and red in tint, but some are monochrome. They are candid in nature and mostly show four men in various locations, including in an empty street, a crowded festival, under a bridge, in a car, and standing on sand. One photograph is a close-up of a man's hand wearing two rings bearing the characters
