You'll die if you smoke.

You'll die if you don't.

I don't see a problem, so why is there one?

You could always die tragically from something else. Maybe even before the lung cancer hits.

You could also be a heroin addict but couldn't die from anything either.

Just because there's a chance nothing could happen to you doesn't mean it's not a bad thing to do.

Would you prefer to be cough'n on the way to the coffin? Or perhaps, does the lack of cancer make you preform as a dancer? But as you say, even without the smoke'n you will end up croak'n.

I rarely see people throw trash out the window of their car, I do however see smokers throw cigarett butts (toxic trash) out the window constantly. That makes me wonder to myself if they'd care if they saw me throw a mcdonalds bag out the window of my car? I'm going out on a limb and saying "yeah, I'd imagine they would have issue with that" (and rightly so).... so is it because they don't want a little piece of stinky trash in their car that they "overlook" that trash is trash and therefor their toxic trash isn't trash, simply something they wouldn't want smelling/cluttering up their car?

Honestly I have always wondered that and it does irritate me when I see it happen several times on a daily basis. Anyway, that's my biggest issue with smoking is that it appears to make a lot of smokers look like they don't give a crap about others by the fact they are putting toxic crap in our shared environment (along with the fire hazard it introduces, yes fires do happen from them). Oh, and for as the actual act of smoking, please just keep it away from myself and my family as it stinks and it's bad for you....and I guess stop smoking in non smoking places, we do see you doing it...but you go right on ahead and smoke it where you should, dispose of the butt responsibly and most of all have fun.

In short as long as i'm not exposed to it and you're not being a jerk with your trash I could care less.

OK, I guess I could be wrong my whole life but i'm not seeing where that's true. A quick google of "are cigarett butts toxic" didn't show that they weren't? Here's an example of what the quick search came up with which are a crazy amount of links arguing against what you're saying:

http://www.cigarettelitter.org/index.asp?PageName=Facts

"each cigarette butt can contain up to 60 known human carcinogens including arsenic, formaldehyde, chromium and lead. Indeed, there are 1,400 potential chemical additives."

Or

http://www.kpbs.org/news/2009/nov/03/researchers-say-cigarette-butts-are-toxic-waste/

well you get the point... if you read the first one it even goes into the "myth" as they say that they are non-toxic and bio degradable. So you're saying they are not trash or harmful? If you're right you're right and I'll admit i'm wrong, that's just news to me. Seriously though, something to back that up would be cool. I'm doing another search and they are even saying "contrary to popular belief, cigarette butts are not bio-degrable. I searched on "cigarett butts are not toxic" and that came up.

yup and people often drink as well so you can really shorten your lifespan quite a bit and the health problems that come eith smoking are not pleasant in the least. Not only will you die way too young but it'll be a painful and miserable way to go. Of course some people manage to slip through that cracks but they are few and far between.

I usually respect people's opinions because I also have ridiculous opinions like this but this time I think it's going a little far. :P There are several issues with smoking. Yes you will die if you don't smoke, this is very very true. But smoking affects your life, it affects your body, what you said is like saying, "what's wrong with being fat?" There are health issues with being overweight, I don't have much experience with these things, but it affects your respiratory system, your heart, and life will be more discomforting. Second, you will probably die earlier, and possibly through cancer or other things I don't know much about. That sucks. Yes people do get cancer even if they don't smoke, but you are increasing your chances. Third, it affects the people around you. People that smoke smell disgusting and repulsive. The list goes on. I could tell you more but it's kinda a Google search thing.

EDIT: Oh wait... this is a troll, isn't it. You got me. :P

She lucky then. Some people are. There's a reason though why you almost never see a smoker past the age of 50 though...

thats is the definition of exaggeration, the vast majority of smokers live after 50 and 60.its the way they live that matters:P.And of course the amount of smoking.A couple of cigarettes a day are practically harmless, its just that very few people smoke a little

Right, most will live past 50 but the ones that were smoking up to that point typically already have had cancer and had to stop.

You die earlier.

Kcinz
You could always die tragically from something else. Maybe even before the lung cancer hits.

Exactly, so that's why you should live life on the edge and commit mass murders and rob banks. You're gonna die eventually so at least spice life up a bit.

If you are talking about cigarettes: they smell terrible, you become physically and mentally addicted to the nicotine, it stops being enjoyable and begins to become something that you must do in order to function at your normal level, there are all kinds of toxic chemicals in them, etc, etc, I could go on for days. If you are talking about tobacco (other than cigarettes): I don't really see anything wrong with smoking tobacco, but if I were going to do it, I would roll my own cigarettes, or I would smoke from a pipe because it is a much safer/healthier way to smoke. If you are talking about marijuana: Everyone should smoke it.
