It may be far more cost effective to just watch who these people are and then start dumping your trash in the lawn every week (just remove anything with your name or address on it of course)? Maybe after a while they would get the hint that it's not cool to liter just because they don't give a damn about anyone else.
rgsniper1
Who's lawn would you be dumping your trash in?
I was commenting on the DNA post and....
Sorry I meant to type "into the smokers lawn". I'm assuming they would be ok with it as litering wouldn't seem to be a problem.
Yeah I know what you were responding to, I've been reading the thread. How do you propose finding out who these people are?
You die earlier, more miserably, the cost, have trouble breathing in life, coughs (that can keep you up at night), it's rude to smoke around other people, may have to use voice box, cancer. There are plenty of reasons not to smoke. No benefits whatsoever.

Some countries actually make a massive profit on smokers, I hope that everyone realizes that? People who live extremely healthy are mostly a burden on the long run, especially in wellfare states.
rgsniper1
I'd rather pay even more if I had to to support extremely healthy living than I would to pay for a smoker who throws his butts in my lawn and around my community. That's just me though.
Honestly, I wasn't being serious. I suppose if you really wanted to you could stand outside almost any building and watch people walking in (a lot just drop there butts on the ground before entering) and then watch what vehicle they get into when they leave. Take that tag number to your cousin Vinny that works for the DMV and have him run the plate. Viola....
If they are driving down the road when they throw it out the window... well then you just skipped ahead to step two... congratulations.
Maybe a better idea in hindsight would be to just shout "oh excuse me sir, I see you've accidentaly dropped your piece of toxic trash here on the ground. I'm sure it was accidental because you sure don't look like the kind of douche who'd do it on purpose. Stay here while I scout out the proper disposal container... oh look it's right there an ashtray and only 5 feet away, lucky you".
:)

so you're saying my health premiums are lower because people smoke.. i'm not paying more.. man have I had it all wrong :/
And is "fatties" a PC term (no I'm not a PC police, I just thought the word choice was interesting)? I do however suppose that's why extremely large people tend to have a taboo about them huh.
Last I'll pay a little more to have a cleaner and better smelling community with lower starting healthcare premiums, is that a better way to put it.

As long as you do the same to any other person who drops any kind of litter on the ground. If not you're just being a hypocrite.

You know, I totally agree with you on that. And it's why when I see people liter it makes me angry. It's also why when years ago I had a girlfriend that while riding in my car down the highway casually threw trash out the window (a candy wrapper I think), I actually stopped the car went back and picked it up. She couldn't believe i'd actually done that so we had a small tiff about it although I tried to remain steady voiced and calm, my arguement was as I feel so strongly about it there was no way in hell trash was going to be coming from my car. I'm not perfect, far from it, I don't try to act like i'm better than anyone else, but having said that I know I try damn hard to not be part of the problem. All that said, you rarely see people throw other types of trash out because they hide it knowing it's trash and wrong to liter. People who smoke (not all) don't seem to think throwing butts on the ground is litering at all and therefor don't even hide it. A lot take that last drag and hold it up or flick it out far for all to see. Heck some even take the time to scrape it across the ground being considerate of not starting a fire while they are in the process of litering. Go figure.

Nothing
rgsniper1
Really? You think nothing? nothing at all? Not health, price, smell, consideration... nothing.... You my good man must live a peaceful life. :)
Here's a list of 100 reasons, you don't agree with even 1?

Not even 1?
NopeYou will die eventually. Smoking is something you can prevent, but there are other things you can't like being attacked by aliens.
stay under the sun and drink too much, yes I feel the same way. Work too much, how much is too much? Besides less of a social life, I don't see anything else happening. And if the person is fat and refuses to exercise, then yes I feel the same way about them as well. Extreme...no, just realistic. Expecting to government and/or employers to cover the health cost of health issues that were cause by stupid decisions from the person with the health issue/s is extreme and unrealistic.if the government can bail out the banks because of stupid business practices, why can't they bail me out for stupid health decisions? Because banks employ people who work hard and have families to support while smokers are doing no good at all to themselves or others.[QUOTE="AmazonTreeBoa"][QUOTE="nunovlopes"]
Gee that's a bit extreme. Do you feel the same way about people who stay too much time under the sun, who drink too much, who work too much, who don't do exercise, and many other conditions that can lead to health issues?
needled24-7
My friends smoke, whenever I go over to their house they're always rolling up and smoking non-stop. It can become an irritant after a while, I just try to keep upwind of them and hold my breath if smoke blows over into my face. It's their house though, so who am I to say anything? I can always leave, and I can always remove myself from a situation where 2nd hand smoke is present (most of the time).
Plus I like taking one drag every so oftern, it gives me an incredible head-rush.
Are you even old enough to smoke... Seriously that argument makes zero sense[QUOTE="fueled-system"][QUOTE="Arthur96"]
What about the people who don't like being raped, killed, run over, convicted unjustly, and so forth?

How is that, in any way, relevant?
