It isn't worth it in the long run. If you attempt to be larger then you're physically supposed to it puts strains on ligaments, and muscles. For short term rewards. Then if you don't continue to push yourself in a short time you'll return to your original size. Those big fake steroid dbags end up with fake chicks who spend the rest of their lives talking about how cool they were in highschool when they stock shelves at walmart for a living.

Did some buff guy in highschool bang the prom queen that you wanted bro or what? Because you could say i'm one of those buff dbags, but it just so happens this buff dbag is studying at university. Listen man i agree there are alot of those sorts of guys around but dont lump every guy that goes to the gym to get bigger into the same category.

Cuz college is hard, rite?

what are you on about mate?

Skarwolf said that buff guys are usually stupid, and you replied that you go to college, which would imply that going to college is proof of intelligence, but there are plenty of dumbasses with college degrees, so that's not true.

[QUOTE="k2theswiss"]do i need a reason to look like the hulk? i don't live in the woods with a pack of wolfs where i have to fight to be top every day, it serves no reason look like the hulk in this world, BranKetra

Actually, skinny, scrappy people are the ones who would survive an apocalypse anyways. You're not going to see big buff guys when the end of the world comes, I can tell you that. Their bodies require more energy, and they won't be able to get away as fast when the raiders come. Granted, they'll be able to fight more of them off - but it's only a matter of time before all of us are overwhelmed. Those of us akin to the likes of, say Steve Buscemi, will survive longer.

stevebuscemi

Nah I'm just screwing around. (not really though)

Look at a sprinter. They are built. Look at Michael Phelps, he's built. Has you ever seen Kurt Angle move? Skinny people would not have an advantage. Besides that, I find it a little odd that you're basing your physical health on an apocalypse scenerio.

...it was a joke.

I'm in Australia, we call them Universitys over here. Also we dont have as many dumbasses as american "colleges" would have as there arnt many uni's that do sports scholarships for things like NFL and Wrestling like american uni's give out. I know this doesnt help my case but i'm doing Sports Science at UWA, so being fit and "buff" helps abit with what i'm doing.

I'm pretty buff I guess. Not out to prove anything. I enjoy working out and it makes me feel good and healthy. I don't brag about it and don't post pics with my shirt off with my cell like many dbags do.

[QUOTE="Darthkaiser"]

[QUOTE="tocool340"] Yeah, I edited my post. I counted the weight and it was actually 180lbs, though my step dad said 230lbs. Still sound unbelievable though. But like I said, doesn't really matter to me... BTW, when you double 145, you get 290, which isn't very close to 230...sonofsmeagle

Don't know if someone cares but I believe the 180lb one

There's this guy at my gym that presses with four 45lb discs and he's like 5'8''

So yeah it's possible

Its not that were saying someone thats 6ft or 5'8'' cant bench that much for 3 reps but rather someone that is 6ft and 145 pounds cant bench that much. I dont care if you work with lumber that will give you abit of extra strength but at 6ft and 145lbs and suddenly doing weightlifting you wouldnt be able to bench press even 150. its not an assumption its a fact, i remember back when i was 5'8'' and about 140 pounds i couldnt even bench press 100 pounds, and i know fo people that with around the same weight and height who lead fairly active lifestyles couldnt bench anymore either. Now tocool340 is either a troll or a liar trying to make himself sound big on the internet when clearly he has no knoledge of weightlifting because if he did he'd know for dam sure that with his height and weight 180 let alone 140lbs would be out of his reach.

....Don't know why I'm doing this cause I doubt it will make a difference, but:

weights

Weights

That's 90 lbs on each side giving a total of 180 lbs to lift altogether. Here me lifting that 180 pounds:

Starting

Lifting

Now, did I miscalculate anything. Am I doing anything wrong here?...

Haha i never said i doubted you could lift it once on that machine, now go bench it like a man where you dont have a machine to worry about balance. And besides whats to say you didnt get your dad to pull it up and get you to hold it while he took the picture.

The way I dress mostly wouldn't look good with a buff body, but when I get into my mid to late twenties I'm ditchin my look and working out. You can only have the whole emo/scene look for soo long.

You just said I couldn't lift 150 let alone 180. I just showed I could. I said I WON'T be using the bars to lift those weights because I'm not interested in going out of my way to possibly injure myself just to prove something. And my step dad was sleep when I decided to lift. Everything I did was on my own, including taking the pictures where I set my camera up on a timer to flash....

You know what, forget that I even said that. I'll just go back to my original statement and say that I don't need to be in a gym trying to get buff when I'm plenty enough strong to do all the necessary things needed to get through the day....

Yeah, well I don't care anymore. I did it with the bar, but will not do it again cause I know it IS hard to lift. I see no reason to argue about it anymore. Just forget that I even said I lifted 180....

(Looks at Alex Louis Armstrong from Fullmetal Alchemist: a massive, buff guy who at any given opportunity laughs, cries, and sparkles)

I don't like gyms. I prefer to exercise outdoors, which means I usually run or ride my bike, which are two activities that do not turn you into a strong guy. Resistant, yes; strong, no.

Vomiting is the cause. Everytime I do too difficult or strenuous exercizes, I start to heavily vomit. First I need to get a cure for my vomiting, before I can start to do heavy excercizes again.

I seem to be more built like a runner. Also, I never seriously worked out (besides running) until a relatively later period than most people (a la late college). I'm still learning.

Thankyou, also great picture to go with it. I know for sure that i could push about 50% more on that machine, because your muscles dont have to worry about balance and you dont need absoloute concentration, its like when you do leg press you can press 2x the amount you can squat because you dont have to worry about balance and having the pain of holding the bar. Or lateral pull downs on a machine are soooo much easier than using a a barbell and standing there doing pull ups, all because of the muscular balance factor.
