terrorism has no clear definition, and certainly no clear beginning, but pretty much everyone who seriously talks about the issue says it began far earlier than 1961.

when the middle eastern religions are either abolished or really thought over and changed. I know there are other terrorists, but my god, something is wrong over there(not to say all middle easterns are bad people). I don't have a problem with people believing in religion, but when they are holy rollers, something needs to be stopped.

The problem is when people take religons out of context, not the religon itself.

Terrorism is really just a tactic more than anything else. I think nowadays in the post-9/11 world when people refer to terrorism they're usually referring to anti-western Islamic groups. I think the struggle against those Islamic groups has basically set the tone for the early 21st century. I see it being on the national conscience for maybe a couple decades.

The ends don't justify the means. Regardless of your "cause", if you start targetting innocent people and bystanders, then you've sacrificed your integrity, and have made yourself worse than what you are fighting.

Terrorism has always existed, terrorism will always exist. The United States and the West has simply been using the phrase since 911 to describe what they don't like. Pretty much everything gets called terrorism these days, from civil unrest, to civil wars, just because its the flavour of the month (pardon the expression). If you mean specifically when will the attacks on Western nations usually precipitated by Islamic fundamentalist groups using guerilla tactics will end, then I would doubt within our lifetimes.

Well terrorism is a lie that is created by the number one country in the world to expand its military bases in some third world countries and take advantage of its natural resources. Most of those who claim to commit such crimes in the name of Islam don't know the basics of Islam sadly.

Terrorism is a horribly useless, arbitrary, and misleading word. Wikipedia quote: "One 1988 study by the US Army found that over 100 definitions of the word "terrorism" have been used." Nowadays it's become a buzzword for western politicians to start greedy wars over. So the "Terrorist Era" won't stop until A) There are no more conflicts in the world between large, powerful countries and weaker countries employing guerilla tactics. B) Anarchy(there won't be any big organizations to label groups as "terrorists"). C) Western politicians move on to using a different word for their enemies.

Terrorism will never end. As long as their are people and injustices there will be terrorism. Hell, you want to know when terrorism ends? When we stop calling it that andstart saying that this are politically or religiously motivated criminals. Sacking towns, dropping bombs on civilians, extra-judicial killings, and so forth have been with us since eternity. They will stay with us till the end of humanity. I am of the opinion that anyone can become a terrorist; because like many before me have said before one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. This isn't some false moral equivalency, as obviously some causes are more just than others. Political terrorism can create nations, but also genocide. Just look at the history of any nation formed within the past 300 years. Terrorism is a battle of ideas and definition. Hell, if you go to Britain they hardly refer to terrorist as terrorist but rather as criminals. Will terrorist ever stop? NO, but branding them as criminals will take away the luster of appeal it has. And it might help if the media can stop portraying them as an entity that is deadlier than a force of nature. The amount of people that these people kill is small, but our media blows it out of proportion because it makes for a good story.

There will always be someone who is desperate, angry, and deranged enough to attack civilians to further their cause. We will never be rid of them, no matter how many extremist ideologies we stamp out. I mean, is the ALF or the KKK going to be dismayed if Osama Bin Laden dies? Not likely.

I think terrorism is part of human nature just like capitalism and other things. This is why, unfortunately, terrorism will always exist.
