Just wondering.

I'm looking around everyday at all these zombies just staring at their facebook and wonder why the hell people do this crap.
IDK, i already keep in touch with the people I want to talk to, so the only use for facebook I can see is to communicate with people I don't want to talk to.

It's like a sickness though. So many people live and die by this garbage.

Okay?, then don't use it? I don't see why people think somethings lame because everyone else uses it so they try to be different and rebel against it, but in this case who cares jeez, its just a social networking site, there's more just like it.

We plan a lot of stuff on facebook. I keep in touch with a lot of people I went to school with and if theres something happening like a big footy match or derby then we put an event on facebook to say what pub we'll be in and what not. It works great.

the only reason i joined myspace 2.0 is because everyone kept nagging me to do it. I was pretty much forced into it because everyone i know left myspace. I barely even use my facebook page. Unless it's related to music, i rarely, if ever comment on anything. My personal problems usually annoy people when talked about. And quite frankly, i'm not social enough to care about talking about what i did today. Once the next worthwhile social network site rises, i'll close my account.

People just want to feel as if they have all of these friends, they want to feel connected, and they want attention. While I think Facebook is boring, I keep it so that my girlfriend can have "In a relationship with Alex Escurra" on hers.

It might not be my cup of tea but some people like posting pictures of themselves and their friends who nobody cares about and nobody will ever look at. And others like to comment on these pictures, which in term makes them feel as if they are connected to each other.

In all honesty, who has over 200 friends? Who has 500? 1000? Nobody, these are all acquaintances, or people you just saw once in a class and what your friend count to increase so that you look popular/cool.

Every so often I go back and I get to see how some of my close friends are doing, friends who are in college or have move on with the friendship. I get to smile as I see them with new friends, relationships, family, etc...

Same here, I can understand why people that are still in highschool or whatever that see their friends everyday might get bored with it, but for a 20 something college kid or recent graduate it is nice especially if you have moved away or living in another city it is kind of cool to see what your old highschool people are still doing or see how they have changed.

Its nice to check up on briefly. Some of my friends live far away, so in that way it is nice.

I do hate it though when people spend hours on facebook.

I was just stereotyping, and I apologize. I never really ever had friends who were much into social websites anyway. If anything, they most often than not didn't have a Facebook or Myspace and if they did they didn't use them.

No worries. The way I see it is - if you and your friends utilize facebook to its fullest potential it works great - if not - then its not for you but that doesn't mean its lame or anything like that.

Me thinks me does it to feel better about meself, but let's not get all Psychological on self-esteem and the such.

Also, I personally, and sincerely apologize for my stereotypes... I'm sure somebody out there is making fun of me for being addicted to Gamespot just as I make fun of them for being addicted to Facebook/Myspace/Twitter.

I think it is fine now, but I am just tired of older people using it like my parents. I never added them as a friend but when my cousins try to add me I just reject them since I really don't want any part of them. I'm pretty sure I will stop using facebook when I am about 30.

I like it :) it lets you keep in touch if you travel a lot... or have many friends you don't see so often. Without it I would probably loose contact with a few people due to them living so far away and being busy.

Lame.. I mean its ok to occassionally check up on it like once every two weeks to keep in touch with old friends and such.. But the the fact that people are spending 1 to 3 hours a day on the site is just sad.

I use Facebook all the time to keep in contact with my family and friends who I don't live near anymore.

But I'll admit, all those people who check their facebook like every 5 minutes on their cell phones is taking it too far. Or the fail status like, "Omg I'm at P.E. now guys!!" >.>

I honestly think its a great way to keep in touch with your friends. Not to mention the notification bar is brilliant. I don't really play the games like I see so many do, but then again that is what I have video games for so I can't really say much.

Honestly being able to talk to my friends at any time of the day without texting is great.

I think its lame. If you don't have my phone number or I don't see you on a fairly regular basis, you are not my friend. My definition of friend is apparently different from everyone else's nowadays. What's wrong with a phone call?

It's a great way to keep in touch with old high school friends, and it'll be nice when I graduate college. It's also the only way I really keep in touch with hiking friends, and it allows me to see what other hikes/travels they've gone on without having to email me 100 pictures.
