Okay?, then don't use it? I don't see why people think somethings lame because everyone else uses it so they try to be different and rebel against it, but in this case who cares jeez, its just a social networking site, there's more just like it.

People just want to feel as if they have all of these friends, they want to feel connected, and they want attention. While I think Facebook is boring, I keep it so that my girlfriend can have "In a relationship with Alex Escurra" on hers.
It might not be my cup of tea but some people like posting pictures of themselves and their friends who nobody cares about and nobody will ever look at. And others like to comment on these pictures, which in term makes them feel as if they are connected to each other.
In all honesty, who has over 200 friends? Who has 500? 1000? Nobody, these are all acquaintances, or people you just saw once in a class and what your friend count to increase so that you look popular/cool.
Every so often I go back and I get to see how some of my close friends are doing, friends who are in college or have move on with the friendship. I get to smile as I see them with new friends, relationships, family, etc...
I delete people or dont add people I just met in class or whatever. And maybe people on your facebook don't care about the stuff you put up but my friends care on mine and I care for theirs. So you are just speaking for yourself here.I was just stereotyping, and I apologize. I never really ever had friends who were much into social websites anyway. If anything, they most often than not didn't have a Facebook or Myspace and if they did they didn't use them.
